I keep seeing videos advocating taking a year off from your social life and focusing on self improvement. While working on yourself is admirable, I don't recommend intentional isolation. Here's why ☝️

You can't tell me what to do! But seriously, no one should follow any advice without fully understanding or questioning it. This includes the advice in this video! I do fully agree with the notion that most growth you can have is interacting with other people however. I learned that rather late in life, but better late than never.

You're not my real dad! Yes, that's exactly right. I wouldn't want anyone to blindly do what I say. In fact, my ultimate goal is to encourage people to think for themselves :) I feel you. I didn't learn late, but I put it into practice late. But yes, no such thing as "too late".

So i took a path through life where i would have loved nothing more than to have left the world and come back my new and improved self, that was clearly never going to be a realistic option, it was fucking hard work and awkward but i'm better for it.

I feel like people often try to find cynical logic in the way that people interact, and they try to develop strategies and life hacks that they think will be a shortcut to getting what they want. They want to game the system. There's no shortcut and there's no trick, you just have to put in the work, and self-improvement is difficult. It's how you get the Sigma male the stuff, the PUAs, the Liver Kings, the Hustler's University, and other stuff like that. There are lots of people out there who either have no guidance or want an easy path to becoming the person they want to be, and there are lots of people willing to sell snake oil to them.

You have a good mindset man :) I think a "sigma/gigachad" youtuber you'd like is "Hamza". I've been watching him for a few months and he is really intelligent and wise. He's someone who really tries to understand and question each thing, and gives you the most beneficial part out of that thing.

Looking at the responses to this video, I think I fall somewhere in the middle. I appreciate Mr. Summer mentions the value of stoicism, but the isolation part of "sigma" advice does bring up a healthy option for clear and fortify ones mind. While this point is often crudely explained, it has a similar principle to monasticism. Isolation from the world for a period of time to clear out any junk built up in your head and to hone a harmony between your mind and body has and still works today. I find excuses of the oppression of society and the weight of the world to often be shallow reasons for why someone hasn't changed as there is always the choice to do something differently. However, the world (in the sense of input and a constant repetition of failures) can end up overwhelming anyone without focus on a goal. A brief period of isolation allows for a person to sort out their priorities, hone or find their ledger of morality, and get their body in a healthy state, which in turn makes for a healthier mind. I agree that social interaction is essential for a healthy human life, but we should also value the power of taking time to break down and reconstruct one's self away from the temptations and input of the world (this usually works better with a small group attempting to do the same thing). Thanks for having such an approachable form of input on the matter. This subject is often a defining part of people's lives.

When something went wrong in life, people are tend to switch from one extreme to another. Sigma's most of the time are people who got hurt from something, or guy who wanna sell his book to you for 9,99$. Or his online courses for 15,99$ a month or 99,99$ for annual access. So you can improve your life - like he does; -by selling stuff to suckers.- Most Sigmas are not real, they just an image, that guys build for themselves, like a castle. But like any walls, with time, they will crumble and open what lays inside. "When you became someone else, new people will love the new you, but not real you." In closing thoughts. Don't be a vegan / sigma / left / right / insert other name, that people tent to chain themselves with. Don't build that castle, sooner or later, it will fall. Start with small steps, and with time, you will become a better version of your real self. P.s. If something use high amount of your day to day life, look at it from other angle and ask yourself: "Why I'm doing this? Is it healthy? Or it's just another way for me to escape reality?" P.p.s. If someone gonna comment about: "muh eNgrish is a bud!" I'm gonna coom'in for ya! 🚅👏

I agree, Poz. It seems to be part of human nature to over correct when something goes wrong. Balance is usually the best course of action :)

I'm not sure I understand your point, Peryite. Making friends isn't an extreme. If you want to be around people, there's nothing wrong with making friends.

That is one of my concerns, that it's bandaid advice that gives us an excuse to shy away from uncomfortable situations.

As a teen I think the Internets ruins people mindset, well It's like their perspective I don't want to offend people who believe in sigma but like why, the first question chads/sigma or whatever you called it doesn't worth anything and advice I feel like society is judging us If I said like "hey you look beautiful" there will be 2 ways I think is people will think I'm weird and some just looked at me confused because you know we are out of safe zone we have to think before start speak it out but great opinion man🤌
