After applying chassis shield don't wait an hour as you suggested and then rinse off....leave for 24 to 48 hours to dry and don't rinse off 👌

They say 4-5 hours but yeah you could definitely keep it on for longer :)

on my JB74W, I had rust proofed it with SikaGard 6220 Cavity wax which does create an excellent seal and barrier against corrosion. After every offroad trip when being cleaned; undercarriage, engine, the inspection does reveal how good of a protection the cavity wax is on the undercarriage.

Definitely, I think it's worth it if you take it heaps off-road. I do a top up with a Lenoz anti corrosion spray here and there too to maintain, works pretty good!

awesome video and some great ideas with the sprinkler. what wheel and tyre combo are you running? and what did they cost you? i’m in QLD too.
@ExploreJimny2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Yeah it actually works better than what most people think, and such a cheap thing to get from Bunnings. I’m running 235/75/15 with 15x6 rims and +3 offset with a 50mm lift (2inch) Ironman GVM upgrade ☺️ rims we’re about $90 each and tyres I got for a special price around $229 per tyre Vi Tyroola

haha yeah rust proofing a must! 20 yr old rav4 that was rust proofed when bought - multiple beach trips each year, never stayed in garage and we live 100 meters from the beach, we are quite terrible at cleaning too! Only a few spots of rust now but totally expected, esp after 420,000km! New sandy jimny coming in novemeber 2023, interested in that fuse for traction control - is there not a way to permanently disable traction control for a while?
@ExploreJimny2 жыл бұрын
Yeah definitely, it’s just something I reckon you need to invest in if you’re a regular up the beach 😉 There is a way where you can add an “extension” to the fuse which runs the traction control, enabling you to turn it on and off when you install a button. Big_guy_jimny_adventures did a video on it however I’m not sure if fiddling with that will affect anything diagnostically with your car, I.e let’s say you crash and they check the diagnostics and find out you have a switch to it - not sure how that would pan out insurance wise, however I just take the fuse out manually and put it back in again once I’m on the road. I don’t see how they could argue against that as long as it’s placed back in properly etc. Definitely worth doing though for ease of driving but it’s on your own risk I guess 🤔

There is a dude who runs a channel called 'Life of Smokey' here on YT, he's got a clever fix for the TC problem 😊

I think spray on a rust proofing on all undercarriage will be a better care for chassis?
@ExploreJimny2 жыл бұрын
Do you mean ceramic or electronic? I’ve been recommended ceramic rust proofing (I got a clear coat as it was a new vehicle) and definitely worth it as I go up the beach a lot 😊
@cloud9eddie4542 жыл бұрын
When professionaly rust proofing do they just apply some sort of oil on the chassis?
@ExploreJimny2 жыл бұрын
Hey! So, I did ceramic rustproofing, which comes as either a clear or a black coat. Because I applied it when my car was brand new, they applied a clear coat (basically looks like a shiny oil yes), however I like to refer to it more as a clear nailpolish, haha. If your car is a bit older they generally apply a black coated ceramic coat. ☺️

What the blue hose adaptor on the end of the Ozito tool? I just bought the Ozito tool but struggling to find a 1/4" BSP to hose quick connect adaptor.
@mattwhite9602 Жыл бұрын
I used a 1/4” BSP to 10mm barbed hose plug, then use a heat gun to stretch onto a 12mm garden spray hose fitting. Leaks a little bit does the job
@ExploreJimny11 ай бұрын
Yeah same I was just lucky and got it with mine from the rustproofing place. If you head into bunnings and show someone a pic I'm sure they'll be able to find the adaptor.

@@ExploreJimny no worries, managed to find an adaptor at Bunnings that worked perfect, 2pc for $11 👍

Did you professional got your jimny rust proof When you first bought the Jimny or did y’all do it yourself ?? It’ll prob be better to do it yourself than spending 900 dollars at the rust proof shops ?
@ExploreJimny11 ай бұрын
Yes I got it professionally done with DT Rustproofing in Maroochydore (Sunshine Coast, QLD). It's worth doing, followed up by a top-up every year. I paid $550 but somewhere around $650 would be normal to pay.
@clooperman37452 жыл бұрын
lf you don't rust proof the inside of a Jimnys chassis and other box sections it will very soon start to rust as there is zero rust protection from the factory, inside the engine bay large areas have no top coat so spraying the underside will remove sand, mud etc, without the internal rust proofing the chassis will soon dissolve!!
@ExploreJimny2 жыл бұрын
Yeah 100% good point. You can buy liquid rustproofing and spray it with a gun inside the chassis, definitely recommend that however the guys I get my rustproofing done at already does this which is awesome. And again, the top-up every year is essential 😄
