Is it better to buy or rent equipment for your farm or homestead? That is the question that we often find ourselves asking. Finding the right equipment for your property is an important process and in order to keep yourself from getting burned, you may want to ask yourself a few very important questions. We recently bought a Kubota SVL Skid loader and in the process of buying this equipment we looked at John Deere, Kioti, ASV, Yanmar and Kubota. In this video, I share the main reasons why we bought a kubota.

Oh my Lord that is my worst nightmare. I am super claustrophobic and would lose it. Really appreciate you sharing that with the group. You would think the swing out door would have some kind of release. Glad you are safe brother. 👊🏼

Hi Joe , my name is Tory and I’m from the state of New South Wales ,Australia , I’ve been watching you and other American u tubers doing the homestead lifestyle, I have 65 acres and I can’t believe just how similar you Americans and us Australians are , you could be my next door neighbour as we do and think the same about lifestyle , freedom, tractors , and all types of other machinery to use on our farms . I too have brought a Kubota Svl 75 outright about 3years ago and it is a weapon around our farm to get things done, you have a great machine in the 95 series and it won’t disappoint you. Keep up the good work as we in Australia love your videos and content . our farm is a hobby and flower farm ,my daughter Tina has put up some videos of her flower farming journey. The videos are under the name of Woodstock Flower Farm , cheers Tory.

Hi Tori, thanks for taking the time to reach out! It is amazing how YT can remind us how much we all have in common. Sounds like you would be a great neighbor! The SVL 75 was almost the machine I bought, but the 97-2 won out. I'd love to know what projects you use yours for! Thanks for the kind words and I look forward to checking out Tina's channel. Take care and God Bless!

Morning Joe, I was stoked to receive your reply, I have a 1800 mm or a 6 foot slasher / bush hog i think you call them , works fantastic as I can see everything in front of me , in Australia we mostly have 4 in one buckets on all our machines and I do trail clearing and general farm cleaning with it , we also have a Bx tractor that my wife Dawn loves and two excavators a Kubota kx 1.7 ton and a Kobelco 3.3 ton , The Kobelo has done so much general work around our farm I could not be without it. I am a house Builder in our local district , now looking at semi retirement and performing more work on our farm , just so much to do and so much enjoyment for my family and I. God Bless your family as well and looking forward to and the inspiration you provide on your channel. PS I am looking at a TYM 50 hp tractor also , so will be interested in your reviews . Cheers mate Tory.

Joe....I kept a 1972 Corvette in my garage for 10 years and the mice love these old cars so it was important to me to do what ever I could to keep them out. I kept a few of the old time toilet cakes on the floor under the car and I never had a mouse get in the car. I bought them by the case at the grocery store and I did get quite a few odd looks at the check out counter.

In my state the DMV has a "covered farm vehicle" registration for trucks and trailers so you can haul your agricultural equipment without a CDL within a certain distance of your farm. Also check out the payload of a 26,000 lb gross weight truck. Maybe you could haul the skid-steer on the truck and use a 10,000 lb trailer for attachments while staying under the CDL limit.

Hey! I think you are right. In Tennessee I believe it's within 100 miles but not positive. Is there a trailer type you prefer?

@scottbarnwell512
@scottbarnwell512 6 күн бұрын
Congrats! Small nit - Bobcat was the pioneer in the skid steer (ie. wheels), but ASV was the pioneer in track loaders. At work, our crews were running ASV with a heavy duty brush hog about '99 or '00. It really cut their clean up time down as they didn't rut or get stuck last past heavy duty brush hogging equipment. ASV has been through a lot of mergers and acquisitions since then and are now owned by Yanmar (2019).

You're definitely right about property prices here in TN. I couldn't buy my own house now. To bad Kapper couldn't buy here looks like he did good. My brother in-law has bobcats he does it professionally. I go on bids with him surprisingly fun. He rents larger machines depending on the job. Looking forward to seeing you putting it to work.

Hey Vaughn, thanks for watching. I did briefly consider it but there aren't any dealers close and they are expensive! An EXCELLENT machine, but for us using it on our property, the 112 would be a lot for us. But great point and thanks for bringing that up!

can you help me understand what this machine will do that your tractor won't?
@JoeTheFarmer
@JoeTheFarmer 6 күн бұрын
For one tear up the ground! Lol. In all honesty, there is a lot. More consistent loader controls, ground leveling and grading, more heavy duty implements on the front, heavier lift capacity, far more maneuverability, etc. The tractor can do a lot…but this is a totally different tool. Hang with me and we will learn it together!
