Great finds RM. the Detroit Spinners album is an absolute classic 100%...& hard to find in the U.K. The Bee Gees album is also superb, Definately their best. Tracy Chapman is about £30.00 plus nowadays. I’ve just got the ‘Fast Car’ 12” single.
@retromusings7 ай бұрын
Wow. A maxi "Fast Car" single is awesome. Well done. On Discogs it seems the average price is about £30 and I saw on Ebay that record is being auctioned with starting bids at £20 -£30. This is the first time I have ever seen that "Detroit Spinners" in the wild and it is in excellent condition. I've never seen that 1973 Temptations album "1990" before which was produced by Norman Whitfield so it's great to have it as he is such an amazing producer. And to find it in the wild like that...it was just mental. Thanks for watching.

@retromusings7 ай бұрын
10 to 15 years ago, you could find a decent copy for a reasonable price but her debut album is pretty hard to find in the wild or even in record shops and the prices are usually £30 for a good condition copy. Just plain lucky that day. Thanks for watching.

Wow. Incredible stack of records there. I have that Tracy Chapman album and it’s truly terrific as you know. I think I paid more for just that one record than all of those stack of records you got there. Feel so happy for you that you found all those. And here I have given up on used records and only buy new. Mainly because of all the noise. You have me rethinking that decision. Terrific finds. Have a great day and happy listening.
@retromusings7 ай бұрын
Still can't believe the whole lot cost £25. I rarely buy new records anymore due to the cost but also the quality of some of the pressings is so bad. I bought the newest Pat Metheny record last year and had to return it twice because the pressing was so awful. Thanks for watching.
@VictorEnnis-n1w7 ай бұрын
@@retromusings Yeah I hear you on the price of new records. It really is quite ridiculous. I am very selective with my choices now because of it. I’ve had much better luck with newer records than used but I will agree I have had 2 or 3 that I returned and exchanged for a less noisy copy. But after your awesome haul I think I will not be so quick to dismiss used records anymore as well. And once again, you got a terrific stack. It’s awesome.

Jewel Akens! I remember that song growing up. I think "Main Course" by The Bee Gees was a transitional LP of sorts, as they moved away from the lush ballads; the "Saturday Night Fever" soundtrack wasn't far off. That's quite a haul! Hope you've been hitting the gym.

@@retromusings Thanks for the reply : -) I listened to it yesterday and remembered that my copy has a bad edge warp that makes the first song on both sides unplayable, as the needle jumps off the groove. A couple of 1 yen coins on the tonearm can't keep the needle in the groove. As a coincidence, I also saw another video yesterday by Dillon at Noble Records about removing warps from records. The only way I ever knew to do this was with a record pressing machine or that two-sheets-of-glass method, but I think I may try Dillons Hairdryer method, which sounds very very risky, but I'm confident I can not cook it. Wish me luck!
