@ItsPoppin

Hopefully the slides aren’t bent. It might just be a matter of evenly pushing the bed back in, making sure there aren’t any obstructions inside the camper, and/or applying 100% silicone spray to lubricate the rails.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! We bought a 2012 palomino a couple months ago, we are the third owners, it didn’t come with instructions. I looked on the palomino site, and I guess they had a fire and lost most of their camper manuals and just have a very generic manual for all of them. So KZbin has been what my husband and I go to and your videos are so helpful. My husband was a machinist and is very handy. Even so, some videos are hard to understand, kind of vague and don’t make sense. All yours make sense and are very clear in a way he can understand. We just took our pop up for our first drive. We just went around our town close to our house to be sure it was ok. Your video showing how to hitch correctly was great. Our driveway has a steep incline, so backing it back in the garage was a little stressful but we did it! We are planning our first camping trip with her (we named her Poppy) will be in a couple months, up to Minnesota to visit my husband’s folks, about 350 miles from our home.

Great video, I am going to refer to it as a checklist! I don't recall seeing it in the video but Goshen systems also have another Zerk fitting on top of the main channel near the rear of the camper. This needs grease too.... Also, when lubricating the winch it's worth mentioning to avoid any lubrication on the clutch disk, or it will start slipping when you raise the camper....thanks

We bought a 2009 star craft pop-up camper. We have some questions on the sink. -We cannot seem to get the sink to drain completely. Any suggestions on how to get the sink to drain completely? -Also is there supposed to be a stopper for the sink? We can’t keep the water from draining. -We would like to use the water tank. We read our instructions about adding bleach to the tank for cleaning and to do that several times. How do we clean the tank and drain out the bleach water? I don’t think we have a tank release under the camper. Thank you. Your videos are very informative. We are new to pop up campers.
@ItsPoppin
@ItsPoppin 3 жыл бұрын
Sounds like your sink doesn't have enough air flow behind it if it's not draining properly. Every camper we've had did not come with a stopper, so that may be something you'll have to purchase. Also we have a video on de-winterizing and sanitizing your water system if you want to check it out.

Tire pressure is 60 psi MAX! always run 55psi to allow for expansion. That 60 psi MAX is for seating the bead when your changing the tire. If you always run the max and it expands you could potentially over pressurize and blow belts it the tires causing damage to the tires and possibly the wheel bearings.
@ItsPoppin
@ItsPoppin 2 жыл бұрын
This is incorrect. Trailer tires should be filled to their maximum tire pressure. If you don’t believe me do a quick google search.

People DO NOT maintain the crank systems on these campers. When we got ours, the system was loud and squealing from being dry of lubricants. A good cable lube can be used on all the cables and pulleys. It is important not to use anything that stains canvas or fabrics so being careful when spraying any lubricant is important. I find people do not bother checking the wheel bearings. I found mine were worn even though they were well greased. I had no idea how old my bearings were other than apparent wear. The nylon bed roller on one of my bed ends was completely worn out. Anyone that owns a popup camper needs to watch this video.When you buy a used popup camper, go through EVERYTHING. Do not assume everything was taken care of.

When you say cable lube for the crank system, what exactly is that? Ours makes noise on the way up. Also, with the switch it rises about a foot, then stops, after minute the switch can raise it another foot, then repeat until it is all the way up. What could be causing this? Any thoughts are appreciated!
@scottfirman
@scottfirman 2 жыл бұрын
@@kdadman Garage door lubricant is the best on the cable system. Sounds like you have an electric system? If it keeps stopping, it could be a limiter switch or the motor is experiencing a binding issue That will put an undo load on the motor and the thermal switch kicks it off. How old is the camper?

great stuff most people have no clue about preventative maintenance. and with popup its the most important thing. number 1 is the cables. question would you have a issue with putting a light coat of grease on the best slides instead of they spray?
@ItsPoppin
@ItsPoppin 4 жыл бұрын
I just follow what the manual says. I suppose you could use grease, but it sounds messy and I imagine it would attract more dirt and other stuff you wouldn't want in your bed rails. I know our sheets sometimes come in contact with the rails, which would definately get grease on them if that's what you used to lubricate the rails. Overall, I wouldn't recommend.
@butterbean4195

@@ItsPoppin yea good idea not to put grease near the bed rails I used silicone like the bood said. i did grease all the cables under the camper the tree etc under the camper and used STP oil treatment in a oil can to oil the pully`s because it will last longer than silicone and get into places you cant get grease. learning as we go.. thanks
@scottfirman
@scottfirman 4 жыл бұрын
Never use grease on the side rails. They attract dirt. Its best to use a dry lubricant if possible. We clean our channels out every year. The main concern is anything that slides or rolls. Lube those things. That crank system should be addressed as well. Many people never lubricate it thinking it doesnt require maintenance.
@butterbean4195
@butterbean4195 4 жыл бұрын
@@scottfirman yes i use 100% silicone on the bed rails and the smooth side (outer) of the crank up`s but marine grease on cables and STP on all pully`s. of course grease on the wiffle tree and tray. when i got the pop-up the guy had folded paper towels between the crank up post and canvas to prevent grease from getting on them but to ugly for me so i cut some foam i have laying around for shipping thats black that stops all grease now from getting on canvas..when it gets to dirty throw them away and cut more.

It's poppin. We're heading out this weekend. My question is: does the water pump stay "on" the whole time? We won't be connected to city water. Just on board water (full tank) Pump works well. When it's on I hear the pump machine working.
@ItsPoppin
@ItsPoppin 2 жыл бұрын
You should be able to leave the water pump on the whole time you’re camping. It’s best practice to turn it off when you’re away from the camper or when sleeping in case of a leak, which the pump would exacerbate. The pump should only run to re-pressurize the system, that is to say, it should not constantly run. If it is constantly running, try running the faucet for a bit to bleed out any air in the system.
@defenderoFreedom
@defenderoFreedom 2 жыл бұрын
@@ItsPoppin ok. Just want to make sure as I can hear it running in the "on" position. Works great. But don't want to overload pump (if that even happens)

@ItsPoppin
@ItsPoppin 3 жыл бұрын
Regarding your first question, what make pop up do you have? Regarding your second question, no. No need to lube anything on the slide out dinette. It’s just like a really big drawer with multiple heavy duty slides. I’ve never read any manual that said you have to lubricate the slide out. With that being said, you could probably get away with applying some silicone spray lubricant to the rails if it’s not sliding properly, just like your bed slides and the roof lift arms.
