At what age does the butyl tape generally need to be replaced? I think you said that yours was a 2008 Jayco. We just bought a 2017 Jayco, and I think it will need caulking this year, but not sure if I need to do the butyl tape. Thanks.

Hi there. Have you ever installed an exterior plug outlet on your pop up? Ours is a 2022 flagstaff and doesn’t have one but it would make a world of difference. Just don’t know how I feel about cutting into the sidewall especially where it’s still under warranty. Thanks!!

Do you know if you can use 1"x 12" pvc board to replace the roof side rail. Also, how much weight needed to be supported by the brackets that get mounted for the lift system?

Couple of questions: After being hooked up to city water, should I drain the hot water heater when returning home? Also, any tips on a kitchen sink that won’t drain? When I pull the sink/burner top to the floor it will drain just fine 🤷🏼
@ItsPoppin
@ItsPoppin 6 күн бұрын
We drain the water heater to save on weight. Do you have a long hose or something similar not allowing adequate air flow to allow for draining? If so, that may be the issue.
@Levi-xg1fz
@Levi-xg1fz 6 күн бұрын
@@ItsPoppin Yeah, I had a longer hose and realized that may be the issue so I cut it. The end of the hose just hovers above the ground but still doesn’t seem to be flowing. I’ll have to dig into it more I’m thinking.

I Appreciate all your videos since I'm new to this pop up camping.. Question.. I've filled my holding tank with water but am not getting any water to the sink after having the pump on for a while. How long should it take to get water to the sink? When I first turn on the pump does it first fill the water heater before sending any water to the sink? TIA..

Hey thanks for the video it's very informative I bought a 97 starcraft yesterday and we got rain last night the rain water was pouring in through my AC I'm thinking I may need to replace that seal could you correct me if I'm wrong
@ItsPoppin
@ItsPoppin 6 күн бұрын
Check the screws holding the AC down first. Second, check the drainage/weep holes in the bottom of the AC to ensure they’re not blocked. Third, replace the seal if one and/or two don’t fix the issue.

Great Video.. I have a 2001 pop-up new to me.. If the battery is dead or disconnected should I be able to run the lights on the inside of the trailer from shore power? The outlets inside are working but no lights. Also when the battery is fully charged and connected are the lights supposed to work or is there another place to check to make sure all is turned on?
@ItsPoppin

Yes and yes - try and find the disconnect switch for the lights and see if it’s actuated. Alternatively, check the fuses in the converter to see if one is blown.

the coldest I have been out in in my PUP is upper 30's. I use reflectix in every window but there is a 4" gap at the top for venting. I did my door too. My curtains are pretty heavy so they compensate for that gap. Aside from the insulating benefit the others benefits; on the bunks they keep the moisture from wicking through the canvas flaps on to pillows and bedding, from dew and rain, light blockage, sound deadening. for the tops of all the canvas pop up gizmos or silver/green camping tarps. I strongly suggest the the gizmos are oversized and cover down to the reflectix to the bunk widows. Pop gizmos should offer you custom sizing and frankly it was not expensive and so worth it, With a IR camera the gizmos make a 30 degree differences silver side up in the summer in the winter silver side down reflects the heat back in and captures the solar energy. the other thing i did was put a awning on the driver's side. IT MAKES A HUGE DIFFERENCE WHEN IT IS HOT. Plus more dry storage bikes coolers firewood, etc out from under your feet on my unit it also lets me open the windows on the dinette slide with no worry of rain getting in. I hybrid the heat I use a electric heater with two little fans to move the air around to the bunk end then set my gas furnace on about 63 as a back up. I use a 500 watt plug in so I can run my gen all night with the heater. 12' awning new $250 6/23/24 www.hannarv.com/P/38661/Dometic944NR13002TrimLineCaseAwning-Onyx-13FootLength you will need some awning track too in middle of the summer, in Florida, I can get my unit down to 78 in the direct sun with zero shade. bonus tip lastly a filet table with sink, connected to you out door shower warm water to wash dishes out side plus put a wye in the line and connect a spray nozzle like this www.amazon.com/GYMAX-Folding-Cleaning-Fillet-Hunting..... I drain mine into in vertically standing inverted 10 gallon barker tank, under the table then via a gray garden hose I run the waster water to the sewer. if no sewer I bring bigger tank with wheels using a collapsible large rectangular food strainer as the dish dryer/strainer. I have had 15 people in camp and that is a lot of cleaning

So I am trying to install this same converter on my Jayco Jay Series 806 pup. On the old Elixir the 30a shore power hot (black) was connected to the breaker bar. On this new converter there is no such connection. Or am I missing that? Where do I connect the AC hot from the 30a shore to the converter?
@IsmaelPR32
@IsmaelPR32 27 күн бұрын
Actually it looks like this new converter needs a dedicated 30am breaker for the hot line. My pup only has one breaker with 2 poles. I just ordered a dedicated 30a breaker.

Just got a new (to me 2019 jayco sport) pop up camper, it doesn’t have AC but does have AC prep. I tried using a couple different portable AC’s in the pop up and neither worked to cool it down at all, do the actual roof mounted AC units make a difference and would it be worth the investment? I’m anticipating it will cost $1,500 for the unit and professional installation but sitting on the fence on if it will work if the portable units didn’t? The portable units I have vent the hot exhaust out of the window btw, I’ve used the same units in a tent and they did fantastic so I’m so confused why they wouldn’t work in this set up

If you're just seeing this vid like I am... Great channel BTW Just bought a 19 Clipper to replace the old basic pup. Manual roof cranks (tongue mounted) get wonky fast, and being "long in the tooth" I replaced it with an electric from Anchor Express. Easy to install and operates well. Worth the expense IMHO. Now we'll see how long it lasts.

Thanks for this video. I have the same Jayco Select but a couple of years older than yours and I thought maybe the issue of getting the tires out of the wheel wheels was unique to mine. Even after deflating the tires I have still had a little difficulty getting the tires off. Also, I'd like to share a little story with everyone out there so you can use me as the example of a "lesson learned the hard way" and avoid it yourself. Last fall when returning from a camping trip I had a tire failure on the interstate. The entire tread face of the tire came off and, fortunately for me and my wife the tire did not deflate immediately. I was able to safely pull off onto the shoulder and about two minutes after stopping, the tire started going down and was completely flat within five minutes. As luck would have it, my spare's valve stem had dry rotted and it was useless and, I say "as luck would have it" because the tire on the other side probably would have gone flat within a few miles. Turns out that both tires were nearly ten years old and, even though they both had lots of tread and looked good, they were not. So, don't be a cheapskate like me and try to make your tires last longer than they are really intended to. I got very lucky that there was no damage to the camper and even luckier that the tire didn't go flat immediately. I've seen plenty of video of trailer tires going flat with some very dangerous consequences.

Another tip for cooling coolers, is the night before you plan on leaving, bring the coolers inside, turn open upside down over the floor vents (if you are using your home ac). The vents will cool the cooler down enough that will help keep things cool. You can also use PVP 3 or 4 inch pipes, glue an end cap on one ends, then fill 3/4 full with salt water and glue another cap on top. Stick in freezer, and use them in the cooler. They will last longer than frozen water gallons and do not take as much room. Video the videos and am looking for my first pop up camper (moving from tent to camper - age...lol). Your videos have been a huge help. Happy Camping!!
