Hey mark please do a full series of this game! Some tips: Mushrooms, meat, and embryos give you dosages if you cook them. Muchrooms give you the least ans most common, meat is next best, and embryos are the best but rare. Always barracage every entrance to your hide out, add bear traps or chained traps outside to pervent savages from breaking the barricades down. If you seen bear traps outside pick them up, its free scrap. Meat is valueable to the wolf and you can trade it. At night don't move or stay close to windows and doors, they will hear and smell you and hunt you down. Focus on securing one room and using all the other rooms as a labyrinth inorder to slow down enemies, this gives you time until morning. Some nights you will hear wispering and your lights will go out (all lamps but one will stop producing light), make sure to stay in the light. You will get damaged. If you hear knocking at the door, answer it. You have been invited to the wedding, you will see the note on the ground. And lastly, shiney stones are good for trading. If you find them, keep them.

U forgot the most important tips tho. Don't pick mushrooms until u cleared out the second map and use it's hideout for more efficient cooking to get more essence from the same stuff plus u delay getting the shadow debuff which saves u all the fuel and make enough molotovs to clear out every enemy which makes the game way too easy! U can make a nuke if u mix rot with empty bottle which is stupid op but u need a match tho. Just live in the first and second hideout and just have an empty inventory with five lockpicks and only go to the third area and avoid enemies just open crates and get shovel early and good loot. Get the gameboy item from the church and give it to wolfman and pick "yes it's a joke" dialogue option to get FREE handgun. U don't have to spend a single night in the third area this way. At the end trick the Wolfguy to step on a bear trap for easy kill and get assault rifle for free. I can go on and on lol.

Love this game, I'm currently on my third run. When that door opened at night it was because SOMETHING actually entered the house and opened it, you got lucky it didn't see you. Also you really need a weapon, you can make a board with nails at the workbench, for starters. Really hope to see more of this game!

Aight, this is looking to be pretty cool and I hope this game is covered as a whole series... That being said; Heres some tips that I havent seen anyone mention yet that should help out immensely. 1. Make sure that the lamps or any light sources (Excluding handheld ones like torches and the like) DO NOT LEAK OUTSIDE OF THE HIDEOUT. That will attract bullshit to come and wreck your shit something fierce because they will know that you are in the hideout and will not get bored from tapping your barricades a few times. They WILL Try to get in if light escapes your house. Same goes for noises; Try to remain as quiet as you can. Walking makes no noise. Running does and especially fighting! But remember; If you have to bring the smackdown on something... Do it. 2. Contrary to popular belief... Dont barricade every single entrance to your house; But You SHOULD barricade all of the windows. At least leave the front door unbarricaded but blocked off by a wardrobe or the like so you can move it aside and drag it back to place. 3. If you are fine with spending the time to do so... You can take furniture from other locations (Like the big wardrobes that block your view... For example, The one in the bunker entrance building) and drag it all the way back to your hideout to block off something. 4. Chain traps dont do shit for damage. At all. Dont make them. Bear Traps for life. They can one-shot most common enemies and if it doesnt kill them outright? They are stunned for almost a solid minute for you to curb stomp them with an axe. 5. Flashlights are inferior to lanterns. Sell the damn things as well as the 9v batteries... Speaking of Lanterns; Those are worth a solid 100 rep to the Trader a piece. Torches are worth 50... Got too much resources? Sell light to the trader. (Also, In order to use the lanterns; They have to be in your hotbar. That way you can use a weapon while being able to use your eyes. 6. Hoard Fabric and Rope. Make as much inventory upgrades and hotbar upgrades as you can... Which is 3 of each. After you make 3 of each upgrade; You cant make more so... Dump the rope, Sell the fabric. 7. If you hear that weird... gurgly sound... That tells you that a mushroom that you can pick is around. White mushrooms are poison landmines essentually. Red ones are also poison landmines, But you can disarm them and get dosage from them. On that note; Keep in mind that each hideout has a different efficiency... Which is the multiplier for how much you can extract from your mushrooms and other cookables. 8. At night; Keep your eyes and ears open... There CAN be some GOOD night events but not all of them are. Knocking on the door is always good and usually nets you some useful item like healing pills. As well as the faint lights outside which can net you better mushrooms that give you more essence if you cook them... Just be sure to bring a lantern and dont go out too far away from your hideout or you will regret it. 9. Do things in the Wolfman's favor. Trust me man. Make nice nice with the guy with the gun and you get good stuff; even if what he tells you to do is immoral... Who the fuck cares in this shithole of a forest where anything that moves might rip you to shreds? 10. After every morning; Whether you live through the night to see the glorious sunrise... Or you get yourself disembowelled by your own bear trap; You will have a time freeze that lasts however long it takes for you to step outside of the fenced in area of your hideout. Take this time to move furnature around, turn off and refuel your generator, trade stuff, repair doors and barricades. Take however long you need to. 11. Buy the goddamn watch. Nighttime ALWAYS officially starts at 20:00 and ends at 7:00. You only need to buy the watch once and keep it in your inventory, not your hotbar; Though it will work there as well. 12. Upgrade the workbench as soon and as much as you can. No if's and's or but's... Always do it. 13. ... Use keyboard and mouse if you can. That way you can actually check things to see interactables in the screen and mouse over... say, the trees; So you can see under them as well as look a little further out. 14. The well gives you health regeneration once a day, now. Its not manditory to drink from anymore; But its still useful to heal up for free once a day. 15. Most of your weapons; Unless stated otherwise, Will interrupt enemy attacks. If you can get in the jive of getting the timing down to bring down the plank and move away... You can get through most scuffles without a scratch. ... Or just use a gun because ammo is a bit easy to get daily thanks to every morning bringing you a trade opportunity. Generally, Some of these tips make more sense if you have been playing for a bit and know what to do. But All 15 of these should ease up the dum-dum brain and make the game a LITTLE less stressful. ... Then again, These tips likely wont be seen because pre-recording episodes is a factor that exists.

@@droz74 Shit, I forgot to mention that too. It does use up the same amount of stamina as the Charge attack; But it still interrupts enemies. It DOES do a little bit less damage, But stunlocking enemies is quite fun, Especially if its not a 1 on 1 encounter. The quick attack will save your life on more than one occasion if you are in need of stopping an enemy's attack or if you just need to get out of dodge.

I think what makes this game extra terrifying is the fact that you can only see certain objects/enemies through your line of sight. It's like even though it's a top-down horror game, it still feels like first-person, in a sense. You still have to physically turn back to see what's lurking behind you.

I like the contrast of how in the alpha version the intro starts with the doctor(?) saying the trust and dependency of the villagers haunted him vs. now the doctor says the villagers view him with blame and hatred and he can't escape them. It 's two side of the same coin really. Both ways it captures the doctors failure to help the towns people and his inability the escape said failure. The only difference is who looks at him with disgust due to his failures, either himself or the people he failed.

Mark, if you wish to continue, you could consider starting over to get a better start. This game is *punishing* but here are a few tips to keep in mind: - Always carry a weapon. Make yourself a plank with nails. It's better than nothing. - Careful with your inventory management. You got a taste of what it's like to get full up and find good stuff. - Don't walk around with your torch out. It has a durability and you'll need it for dark areas. - Get as many shrooms as you can, to do it, you have to walk around carefully. - Be careful not to run out of stamina running around. You never know when you'll have to run for your life. You do not know the woods and they are treacherous. - There are items that are used only for selling, you'll find them. Also, I think the game generates different maps every time you play. Same locations, different arrangement, but I could be wrong on that.

@@lIlIlIlIllIl I said he could consider, not that he has to. The one advantage of restarting in this situation is due to him walking over shrooms. I don't wanna say much more to avoid spoiling things in case he reads this, but those early shrooms he destroyed can be harvested (as he found out) and are extremely useful. Since only one day has gone by, it's by no means the end of the world and it's possible to catch up. At the end of the day, these are only tips, it doesn't matter if he uses them or not, as long as he plays the way he likes. :)

"Droga do domu" in Polish simply means "Rode to home" and that book about mushrooms is real book written in 1928 by Józef Swoboda and its title means "Use of mushrooms in household". It is even title before linguistic revolution in Poland. Now it should be "... w gospodarstwie domoWYM" not "w gospodarstwie domoWEM". Radio Monika of Unitra company is also taken from real. Whole place of this game is some post-apocalyptic Poland from 1960s or 1970s. P.S. I always love when English spoken KZbinrs try to read Polish :D If it was your first try Mark it was pretty good :D

I gotta say I love the mechanics I'm seeing, like how everything is dark but you can kinda see, but you need light to see details like bear traps. A creative simulation of reality. And how the light is handy as a cone effect, but in the underground, the narrow path nearly takes that benefit away altogether and there could be anything anywhere and you won't see "it" until you are right on top of "it."
