Please note that as far as we are currently aware a type 3 is as far as a civilization can progress. Everything beyond that is speculative. Type 4 would require massively faster than light travel or wormhole technology, which we don’t know for a fact is possible. Type 5 and up assumes the existence of multiverses, which while very VERY popular in media right now, are purely hypothetical.
@nevyanplamenov54092 ай бұрын
I don't think even type 3 is possible, the distances in space are simply mind blowing, Even our nearest star would require a travel of half a decade with light speed to reach it. This doesn't exclude the possibility for some kind of technology to open portals between parallel universes or dimensions, allowing us to expand and escape catastrophies
@lunyxappocalypse70712 ай бұрын
Except there are several things in physics that could suggest it is true. Collapsed dimensions from the beginning singularity (Following that a singularity was true), possibly black holes, dark matter, the rare conditions/parameters for life to exist is pretty telling. (For the last example, two such parameters are the balance of the weak force and the strong force. Given the assumption that a emerging universe does not need to have said balance in order to exist; in which the opposite is a silly argument to assume. Totally not ripping on my cousin.) And of course quantum physics seemingly loosed information, though I would not state that as an argument by itself, given how little we currently know about it. Its at the very least a workable theory that's worth investigating.
@Raptor_Ren2 ай бұрын
@@lunyxappocalypse7071 Please note you used words like "assumption" and "seemingly" in your comment, that's why I said it's speculative. Our understanding of how the universe works changes with each leap forward in technology and mathematics we make, and many previous models of understanding have been proven inaccurate. Until we build FTL or warp drives, we don't know for certain we can. Until we peer into another universe and study it, we don't know others exist. It's something our descendants will discover.
@Raptor_Ren2 ай бұрын
@@nevyanplamenov5409 Type 3 is possible, it would just take a timespan of millions of years to accomplish. We'll likely need to alter our biology to handle the trips, but colony ships, once built, can still reach other stars. The reason expanding beyond a galaxy/galaxy cluster may be impossible is because the universe's expansion rate is faster than any rocket we can figure out how to create right now. Our galaxy cluster clings together due to gravitational pull. A ship that leaves a galaxy cluster that DOESN'T have FTL capabilities would never catch up to the retreating galaxies and be lost forever to the void.

One of my favorite religious ideas I've ever heard went something like: A type-5 civilization (gods, basically) fell into power-hungry war and internal conflict. By the time it reached type 7, the survivors had determined the best course of action was to tweak the laws of reality so 'gods' simply could no longer exist. This resulted in their own deaths and bars any being in our present reality from ever reaching that level again. Essentially, 'There were creator gods, and they fought a terrible multiversal war...So the survivors baby-proofed reality then killed themselves.'

"Developing nuclear fusion, also carries the risk of causing catastrophic damage." No it doesn't. 1: Fusion has already been 'developed' in weapon form for decades. Any damage caused isn't a risk, it's deliberate. 2: The weapon form of fusion piggy-backs on nuclear fission weapons, which are in fact, very difficult to set off, and cannot be done so by someone say, accidentally poking them or flipping a truck. 3: In power production, fusion is actually inherently safe. Fusion requires very intense and precise conditions to occur. Thus, a failure of any kind of reactor will cause such conditions to collapse, and the reaction will puff out. This is in contrast to fission reactors, which in an oversimplified comparison, is a bunch of angry rocks being held close together in a _kettle._ Failure of this kettle more often than not, results in the angry rocks falling on top of each other and starting a fist fight with the ground. Neither power-production version of nuclear power will detonate in a nuclear style. And only fission makes a dirty radioactive mess when the reactor breaks.

So in the "Type IV" part we need to explain this: Saying could attempt to reverse entropy after already saying "harvesting Hawking radiation" is not necessarily wrong but a bit spread apart from each other, more than it should be. The reason I'm saying this is that the entropy of the black hole (with the entropy of a black hole being proportionate to the surface area of the black hole) in the middle of our galaxy, Sagittarius A, has 10 times more entropy (which is 1x10^91 Boltzmann constants) than the rest of the particles combined in the whole universe, and if we take into account all the black holes in the universe we get 3x10^104 Boltzmann constants worth of entropy. All this means that nearly all the entropy in the universe is in black holes. So if we turn back to our initial proposition, being that humanity will attempt to reverse entropy is not thing that you build a machine that reverses entropy, it is that if you are already harvesting Hawking radiation from black holes , where nearly all of entropy is, you will be decreasing entropy. But all this written might be useless in the future because if there is Hawking radiation it must meen that by time the black hole should shrink and eventually cease to exist but the problem is the question, "What happened to all the stuff that fell into the black hole?" Hawking's calculation said that there's no record at all, meaning infromation is lost which is not seen in anywhere in physics because the light in all that radiation is information but Hawking's calculation said that there is no information. The reason why I wrote that all of this might be useless in the future is that there is now research made on this topic which states that information is not lost because we found out that Stephen Hawking miscalculated it and there is no matter and antimatter emitted through Hawking radiation but low energy photons which is also a great example of entropy as for example all the energy from the Sun onto Earth must all be radiated back as energy can't be used up which begs the question how can there be life if that's the case, bu the thing is, entropy here is big consentrated energy coming from the Sun and what's radiated back from Earth is the same amount of energy but in smaller packages. So there is entropy in black holes and mass is decreasing but the premise of entropy not having to increase is not really the case, because the entropy of the black hole plus the Hawking radiation can't decrease not the entropy of the black hole. And this explanation on the entropy of a black hole not having to increase is good but the Hawking radiation has to be changed with low energy photons and then there shouldn't be an issue about the entropy of black holes as their mass is decreasing with the low energy photons which causes the entropy to decrease but not the sum of entropy and low energy photons. Although, as I wrote above, the thing with black holes is that the entropy of the black doesn't always have to increase (and the entropy is decreasing just not the sum of entropy and Hawking radiation which we said that needs to be changed with low energy photons) rather the entropy of the universe, and this is in correlation with the second law of thermodynamics; entropy of the universe tends to a maximum. Everything done is increasing entropy in the universe as a whole while it's decreasing in the system which explains why entropy of the system doesn't always have to be increasing which takes us back to the case; entropy of the universe is increasing at the same time while the entropy of the black hole is decreasing and again the sum is not decrasing. So, can this be harvested? Well we can now detect gravitational waves through the LIGO experiment meaning if we can detect, just like in conventional mining on Earth, we can later on mine it which will decrease the entropy of the black hole fastly if we are somehow "sucking" the energy off the blackhole but if we are collecting the energy just like how we use solar panels currently it won't affect the lifetime of the black hole as solar panels are also not decreasing the lifetime of Sun and here you might think of Dyson Sphere, but that's the same principal as solar panels there's no sucking which means Dyson Sphere would also not affect the lifetime of the star. Thanks for reading all the way to the end. Be wonderous!

@artimous9108Ай бұрын
I'm a bit late to make this reply, but a small correction needs to be made. Fusion, as you mentioned, is the combination of two "small" atomic nuclei being put together for energy purposes. We are not doing that outside of laboratories at the moment. What we are doing on a global scale is fission. That is splitting the atoms of a "large" nucleus into smaller nuclei and using its energy output. Fission is the form in which we consider "safe" for the most part. I hope this helps. I love your enthusiasm.
@mrseriousv1Ай бұрын
@@artimous9108 hi, I'm a little bit confused on what you mean. fusion is safe in a fusion reactor is what I meant. fission is less safe for power. (just compare nuclear reactors and fusion reactors, though nuclear reactors are still safer than most) fusion reaction has been done outside of labs with bombs, and fission vs fusion are both roughly the same in safeness(?) what makes fission dangerous is that it can easily get out of hand. while fusion takes a lot of effort to get going and keep going, and has no meltdown(in the same way as Chernobyl at least) risk, while also producing more energy. so I'm gonna need clarification on what you mean exactly.

And stripping CO2 from athmosphere is another scifi-techno-dream, just not putting it into the atmosphere in the first place is the better and cheaper way to go.

@@kitty.miracleI wrote some sort of similar sci-fi fanfic when I was around 13 that I ultimately ended up turning into a DnD campaign later on, how does your magic system work? Mine basically ended up as ‘more advanced control you have over magic, the more energy you can add to particles and the more types of particles you can manipulate at the same time, a fully mastered particle mage can shoot beams of gamma ray radiation, stranglets etc to break down foes’ molecular structure. (I was a nerd)

If you think about it too long. If the soul exists, a civilization formed of souls exists. If God exists becomes irrelevant at that point. If they do exist, they could just delegate tasks to anyone else they think can handle it, or not. If they don't exist, someone will evolve to the point of being such. 😱

I find it very hard to believe that renewable and nuclear energy sources are insufficient to accommodate human requirements. Can you please provide sources for this assertion?
@grd44dfg2 ай бұрын
It's false people who want funding to explore space. Spew these lies. If we had a state of solar panels we could accomodate the whole worlds energy supply.

Realistically, they are sufficient for now, but if humanity grows to explore and conquer our *entire* planet, then the moon, Mars, the solar system, and beyond, there'll eventually be a level where the renewable energy sources we have on Earth won't be enough. We'll run out of all our nonrenewable resources, including Uranium for nuclear *fission*, and realistically at a certain point we could fill the entire Earth with nuclear *fusion* power plants and have it not be enough. We'd be at the galactic or intergalactic scale at that point, but you get my point.
@jonaut57052 ай бұрын
I feel like it makes a lot of sense. For a type one civilization renewables would just be too expensive to produce at scale, and for the amount of energy a type 1 civilization would require there may not be enough fissile fuel. The World Nuclear Organization states that with the current measured amount of uranium, it may only last 90 years with conventional reactors, though reactors will get more efficient and use different fuels other than uranium at some point. Other possible options are to find some very cheap way to concentrate the very low concentration that is in the crust of the Earth.

None of this is real, it's theoretical. Almost nothing mentioned exsits & are "educated" guesses.
