Omg when you said "some people don't like talking to people or working with a team, I don't really understand why they become a Dr..." And straight away I thought about my friend whose a Dr and doesn't like people and then you said "I guess they could become a radiologist." I laughed out loud. That's exactly what she did! Hahahahahaha

I appreciate this video so much! I believe I can apply this information in my interviews one day as I complete my postbac. I am a former actress model wanting to go into medical school and things such a grit when others don't always believe in you is, I believe very common- if not worse- in the Hollywood/Broadway field. Anyway, you are very blessed and beautiful :)

How do students declare a specialty in medical school?! Like at what point does this occur?
@DrTreMD3 жыл бұрын
We pick during our fourth year when we send out our residency applications. Most people know what they want to do by the end of third year once you’ve gone through all of your rotations!

🦷 I see that you mentioned shadowing while talking about clinical rotations, is that basically what clinical rotations in 3rd and 4th year is all about? Btw I love watching your videos. They are very informative and I think I see a lot of myself in you which is why I keep watching them. Lol.
@DrTreMD3 жыл бұрын
Shadowing is moreso following a doctor around for the day! You typically shadow during the pre-med years and a little bit during 1st and 2nd year. During 3rd and 4th year you actually work on a team and are expected to help out with taking care of the patients while also learning! It’s much more involved and you can share your opinion on what you think is going on with your patients.

I currently work at a HBCU med school in my hometown. This is my number one pick. I've been messaging and completing Zoom calls with some of the top admissions/administration for the program. Could I ask one of them to be my mentor?? They told us to keep in touch and give them regular updates about my mcat, application,etc.
@DrTreMD3 жыл бұрын
It wouldn’t hurt to ask but I’m also sure they may be extremely busy. If they aren’t able to mentor you, don’t be discouraged! They may be able to recommend a doctor with more availability.

co operability? but i googled it and youtube: "Pronunciation Guide" said it like you did the first time. I would have said it KO - Upperability- ma native tongue is French. hihi. i felt I had to comment because to me, the definition of this word is " We all help each other"

Do you know any people who didn't go to med school straight after college? that took like 2 years before getting accepted? Are those people at a disadvantage?
@DrTreMD3 жыл бұрын
Most people don’t go straight to med school from college! I think it’s more of an advantage because you have time to get your masters or work in another field to build your resume/CV!
