LOVE mine!!! No more calibrating refracs! Fwiw I’ve even hit the skinny read out part on the basement rafters a few times and it didn’t break…sounded like a tuning fork but it held up.

Interesting. I’m sure it’s very accurate but I think I would wind up breaking it since it’s a pretty fragile instrument. 😊

Do they have a high precision thermometer out there on the market? I have used a bunch of them and they don’t seem to be that good.

One of our favorites is the Hanna CheckTemp. Accurate +/- 0.5 degrees F, which is close enough for our aquarium related needs. www.bulkreefsupply.com/hi98509-checktemp-1-digital-thermometer-hanna-instruments.html

Be SUPER careful with these. They are fantastic and super accurate, but DO NOT handle by the thin glass readout section. Rinse with fresh water after use but do not scrub with your hand or anything. The glass body is not what you have to worry about, it's the glass shaft that will break super easy. Just pay attention and you'll be fine. Oh another note, in my 28 years of Reefing, I've never found a more accurate Salinity meter than the 11 to 15 dollar instant ocean plastic hydrometer. Mine is spit in every single time. After each use, I rinse it in fresh water well. Salt buildup on anything is bad.

Please do tell how you learned it’s extremely fragile. Was it the hard way, by any chance? 😂

Indeed it was!

We need a video comparing results from these various salinity meters. I get DRASTIC differences between a hydrometer and refractometer. If I take it to the lfs, they give me a different reading. Has anyone done a video? If not, WHY? you guys compare results from EVERYTHING!
