In my mind all knives are tools, it’s a matter of matching the tool for the job. If we’re hammering nails we’re unlikely to use a sledgehammer. If we’re carving twigs we’re not going to use a bug heavy knife. The difficulty with knives for the outdoors is we could end up doing the unexpected and we all have limitations to what we can carry.

I am 64 years old I do not camp or bushcraft anymore, though I do go out trout fishing in the mountains for a day. My knife choices are for fishing use and urban use small LT Wright fixed blades bird and trout knives and Spyderco folding knives. I also carry a slip joint knife once in a while or Victorinox knife outdoors which are very useful especially Victorinox knives and a fixed blade. It depends on what you do your lifestyle and that will decide what knives will be the best for your needs everyone is different.

You are absolutely correct re "best for your needs everyone is different." and naturally it's not possible for me to show all of my folders etc and or smaller knives. I just grabbed these somewhat randomly from the room before setting out. LOL maybe i should have taken lighter knives. Some time back, almost 13 years i did do a video on this subject, in fact now that i think about it I have made several, especially for lighter knives.

Can't see a Mora or Opinel - cheap and useful for most tasks. Why spend big money? Thanks for sharing.
@BushCampingToolsАй бұрын
LOL well I can only carry so much out into the bush LOL but rest assured the Opinel, SAKs etc. are all these at BushCampingTools residence LOL. and over the years we have indeed reviewed these types of knives. One knife is enough as the missus keeps telling me.

I do more trekking and I totally agree with MORA.
