This animation really points out the fact that Pokémon only evolve in dire situations regardless of age, that’s why you have really old Pokémon who never evolve simply because they never needed to

@@X3H3X I'm going only off of memory, but I think that was an episode in the Orange Island arc when he had Squirtle attack a trainer's Gloom with water gun and Misty yelled at him for doing that since he was essentially "watering a plant." I believe it was the episode when Snorlax's Poké Ball broke, but as I said, it's all memory from watching the first two seasons over and over again as a kid.
