Great timing for this video! I've had a guy "friend" in the friend zone for about 10 years now. He has expressed numerous times that he has emotional and physical attraction to me. We have always remained platonic, especially since I am very good friends with his sister (how we met). I am also not physically attracted to him in the least. Recently I have fallen into a dating rut after my divorce and have been working through issues with self concept and self esteem. In my weak moments I have almost considered giving him a chance, or even just sleeping with him out of sheer loneliness. Praise G-d I haven't!! I am staying strong as it is NOT worth it!!! You can usually spot the friend zone guys fast if you're alert. They usually - call/text too much too soon Get jealous when you mention other guys Literally hurt you with words Try to bring you down especially if you're confident and good looking 'listen' to all your problems only so they can unload on you and make you feel guilty for 'using' them. My boundaries were expressed and in place when we reconnected a decade ago, so there were no mixed signals, confusion or hidden agendas on either of our parts, so I thought. Of course a decade later, he tried it with me on my boundaries after I confided in him, as we always did with one another, about a toxic, abusive relationship I had just came out of it at the time. He called himself expressing "suppressed" feelings he so called still had for me. I reiterated to him about the conversation we had years prior. Shortly thereafter, his mask started to slip and he began to get beside himself with the monkey business thru text messages and phone convos where I had to call him out on it. All within that last conversation I had with him, he blame shifted, gaslighted and played the victim over his foul behavior. That was the beginning of the end for me. I began to distance myself which eventually led me to disengage completely. My peace is non-negotiable,

There was a guy who I put in the friend zone for a few years. I knew he wanted more but he was still involved with his baby's mother, he had a touch of femininity which kind of turned me off (said he was in touch with his feminine side), and he had gained weight from when I first met him. This “friend” had three baby mommas and didn’t have custody of any of his kids. I was being platonic throughout the entire friendship. I was dating my ex boyfriend at the time and I made it clear to my “friend” I didn’t have any strong feelings or intentions, we are only friends and nothing more. Time goes by, we knew each other for a year, we started hanging out as friends, next thing you know, my friend (I put in the friend zone)asked me at dinner about my current relationship with my boyfriend (current ex). I explained, “yes, things are rocky with my boyfriend, he and I are trying to make it work.” This “friend” says, “If that was the case, why are you here with me and not your man?” He had a point and I made excuses for my current ex’s behavior (I.e. jail) at the time and I was still dealing with my own trust issues. So, a month later, It was the end of the work day and got a text that he needed a ride back home (my first mistake). I drove 30 minutes away from my house to go get him, met at a 7-11 near a shopping center. He said he wanted to talk to me about one of his baby momma’s taking him to court and needed advice (about lawyers, witnesses, character references, etc.) So I started giving him advice(we are in the car), he grabbed my faux locs and kissed me very aggressively that I had a bruise inside of my bottom lip. I pushed him off and I told him I never ever looked at him like more than a friend. He says, the more I hangout with you I feel like we are dating and you are forgetting your boyfriend. I told the “friend” to exit my car and I went home,sobbing. I was feeling like I cheated. After that night, I stopped hanging out with him completely. Weeks later, he texted me on FB messenger stating that I led him on to thinking this was serious and I was walking away from my boyfriend. First of all, I never told him I was leaving my BF, secondly, I never had feelings for him at all just platonic, I hugged him a few times but never kissed or held hands. From the title alone, I have always agreed with this sentiment. I have had male friends that were strictly platonic. I wasn’t stringing them along, I wasn’t jealous if they had relationships, I wasn’t using them and I was not involved with them sexually in any fashion…they were just my friend! I honestly don't even know why the term "friend zone" is a thing.

It could’ve been that she kept Him in friend zone all those years because he’s not that physically attractive. She’s older now, more mature and his looks probably aren’t a major factor anymore.
