Watching your video was for me being in the right spot at the right moment (as always). I would like to comment if I may. Well, you create your own reality even before you incarnate to this world. To advance your spiritual development, you follow a path that is unique to you as billions of other life forms. This morning I read a quote from Lao Tzu that says something like this: "God gives you people you need, not the ones you want. These people are gonna help you, hurt you, harm you, leave you, love you... In this way, they will make you turn into who you should become to be. So, to sum up, how can you exclude or ignore the "bad" things that are happening outside? They're not for avoiding/ running away, they're there for our attention for us to "see" the real purpose of them. Of course, I'm not saying "let's enjoy suffering" but greeting them with an awareness and a conscious mindset, without labeling them as "good" or "bad", seeing them as just experiences, and allowing them to happen may open new perspectives. Then you can free yourself from yourself (you don't necessarily need an external source to criticize yourself). I know saying these things is easy but implementing is much more difficult. Good luck to all of you in your journeys!

you are very correct. In fact we are all moving around the nucleus, getting closer and closer to our Supreme desideratum. And obstacles, challenges are the forces that help us to become stronger and to move ahead on the path. Seen in the light of this perspective, you can say that struggle against these obstacles is the very essence of life without which we would move towards retardation, toward our animalistic tendencies. But we must move ahead, with heads held high, not only in the physical and psychic strata but also in the spiritual arena. We must subtilize and channelise our mind's restlessness into the grand ocean of inner peace and fulfilment. This is only done through spiritual practice.

"Learn to be indifferent to indifferent things" is a very specific & incredible point you made in this video. Sometimes, the people who cause the most chaos in our lives are actually indifferent about everything & they simply float around like that. It is our own reaction to them that causes a lack of peace within ourselves. Something which is telling. I've recently learned that many people tend to be indifferent towards me or they don't pay any attention to anything in general. Only mindless topics. This however dictates nothing when it comes to our own value & our potential. So yes, learning to be indifferent towards indifferent things truly is a conscious choice one must make again & again whilst reminding themselves as to what naturally aligns & sparks passion. Indifferent things being indifferent towards us do not dictate our value, unless we let it.

I've had incessant negative thoughts for half my life, it really slowed down my life process and self belief. I have been trying to learn how NOT to think anymore and instead ACT on my life in the best way i know how.. if you act things feel better, that i am making some progress and as much as a negative thought pattern can paralyze you, a positive or even slightly positive thought pattern can produce its own positive mind cycles.. It will take months maybe years but at least i am taking life in my own hands now. My biggest problem lately has been feeling like since I finished university, my social life and friends have drifted away from me. I'm getting older, approaching 30, I'll be 27 this year, and most of my friends have moved away, either far away or abroad. It was difficult for a while to come to terms with this, but now I've reached a point where I can be completely happy alone. Many people are not capable of being alone; I think this is something you have to learn. My best friend has become my girlfriend, although I still meet with 'buddies' a few times a month, my true, best friends are far away from me, and we mostly keep in touch online, but we talk about everything every day and sometimes meet. We might have to see the experience of friends drifting away as an opportunity for personal transformation and the cultivation of inner strength. So, the essence is: you have to learn to be alone and accept the changes in life. Edit: this guy's hair is insane as always! :D

"What stands in the way becomes the way" seems to be the essential perception of truth. Truth has always been the deepest source of happiness to me. Truly, no matter how things go my way, I'm eager to accept them with indifference, as it's not up to me to "fix" the world, but myself. Very interesting point of view that just "proves" the phenomenology of life. Philosophy teaches us how to be happy. That's why I've been in it since my childhood. Always creates some sort of "peace of mind". Thank you so much for your prudent speech that keeps on clarifying essential things.

How can I be indifferent towards the injustice taking place in the world? how can this injustice be changed if everyone was indifferent?? Even if it's out of our control, we can at least draw attention to it so the ones in control can change it 🙁
@davesharma89467 ай бұрын
Marcus aurelius says,"You can also commit injustice by doing nothing." Remember, the stoics were all about virtues, and when they talk about indifference, it is different from the conventional meaning(to show no emotions). Indifference, at least in marcus aurelius terms means to not get overwhelmed by emotions, whether something good happens to you or something bad, and to see the thing for what it is and then commit virtuous act. Standing up against injustice is something that aligns with stoic principles, and a great example of it is marcus cato, who stood up against the tyranny of Julius Ceasar. Apologies for my bad grammar 😅

It is worth mentioning that while you should be indifferent to indifferent things, this does not mean you should act indifferently to these things. Indifference to our happiness, not indifference to our actions. Say you are walking to the bus stop and it unexpectedly starts raining. You shouldn’t be upset at the rain or the fact you are now wet, but you should still act rationally and seek shelter from the rain. Someone steals one of your possessions - your happiness should be unaffected but you should still rationally pursue the steps to try get the possession back if it would be worthwhile to do so. Indifference to our happiness, not indifference to our actions.

Two things: Firstly, I've really been struggling with this lately so thank you! Much appreciated. Really and truly. Secondly, I've listened to every one of your lectures (a lot of them more than once) and I'd like to know: Do you find that there is a point where or when Philosophy and Metaphysics (my specialty) intersect? The reason I ask is because you often mention a lot of the same points that ring true in the realm of Metaphysics. The only thing I've not heard you mention directly is the concept of energetic frequency and how it applies to essentially everything we know and experience in our lives. Beyond that, I would go so far as to say they're "companion concepts" in a way. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this if you're willing to discuss the two concepts a bit further.

As a person who find her life during the 4 years in a good way, I'd like to say that the definition of happiness has various types of ways to elaborate. What we can imply in our lives about the happiness from all of these stochastic philosophers or other thinkers like Marcus Aurelius told us 2000 years ago Life may not give you what you want, but it will give you what you need. Life is yours, not anyone else. What I infer during these years myself is utterly giving the ultimate importance to myself by my hands rather than waiting for external factors. Greetings.
