Parents are responsible for childs students loans to payback. Son or daughter called into show previously for debt free scream. If my parents were struggling in part due to my loans I wouldn’t be able to sleep at night. I definitely wouldn’t be doing a debt free scream.

Look at your life as a blank slate no matter your situation. Know that you can walk away from anything. You are not committed to a decision just because you made it. Write down on paper what your perfect life would be if you could choose it. Then on a separate piece of paper write down what it would take to achieve that life. Then on another sheet of paper formulate a direct plan to achieve those things and that will be your guide. Pray and ask God to guide you and help you achieve this plan. You may need to adjust your plan but keep all three sheets so you can see how far you have come. One day you will achieve everything on that first sheet.

I have a rental property in another state(PA). Rent pays the mortagage but thats it. We usually take $500/monthly towards pricinipal. I have about 27 yrs left on the mortagage :( . We live in NYC and rent here because we dont have enough for a downpayment. Especially now. Does anyone know if it would be a good idea to go "debt free" on our investment property and pay it off? or should we just save that $. We can potentially send $2K-3K/ month towards that principal.
