I had never heard of artistree before but it seems like a really good commission platform! thank youfor the recommendation, I will try it out when I start taking commissions again!

It really is imo! I haven't been using it for long but it's just perfect for me! I highly prefer it over Fiverr because it's tailored for artists only as well

As far as TOS, my understanding, Fiverr was designed for people to use the works professionally, so it's assumed that people who have small businesses are looking for those commissions and commercial use is supposed to be part of it. For example, using pictures as your logo, using pictures for your project, etc.
@artyreby4 ай бұрын
The thing is that on Fiverr they give sellers the option to checkmark the "commercial use" option, which then I assumed it would imply that the work you'll do will not automatically be owned fully by the customer.

as far i know fiverr takes 30% of each sale and make the client pay more...
@artyreby3 ай бұрын
@@randowmnmae2401 Fiverr makes the client pay a service fee of 5.5% (as stated here help.fiverr.com/hc/en-us/articles/360049646033-What-is-a-service-fee), and takes a cut from the sellers between 5% and 20% of the total amount :)

I am planning on making art commisions then I saw this. I heard someone say that fiverr has 20% fee which shocked me. Hearing this website is a first for me. Once I made my mind I will choose this website as my first website to work for😅

How is your experience of this site. It my first time using artistree
@artyrebyАй бұрын
It's been quite good for me for a few reasons. First of all, I didn't have to spend extra time calculating how much extra I should charge per commission to also cover the fees of the website, PayPal etc... as Artistree does it for you by simply adding those extras for the client to pay. I've also noticed that, since Artistree doesn't have a system that allows customers to make their own account like Fiverr does, all the people that I've commissioned me so far came from my social media pages and were specifically interested in my art style (they weren't looking for the cheapest artist they could find). With that being said, I personally didn't have a good base of clients on Fiverr so it wasn't a loss for me to switch up to Artistree, but I can understand that if you are already an established artist over on Fiverr or any other platform, it would probably be more beneficial to keep using them. Another small thing that I personally like about Artistree is the fact that is tailored to artists only, so it automatically gives you all the necessary tools that you would need to set up your commission page easily (lets you add a TOS, any extras, wip features...). Fiverr on the other hand can be more "professional" looking and it's probably the first place where people would go to find an artist for their project, but it has already quite a lot of established freelancers, and not only in the field of art. I've personally always struggled to get clients there, and again, most of the people that used to commission me on Fiverr came from my Instagram page, so I wasn't really getting discovered on the platform itself. With that being said, again, if you are already established on Fiverr or on any other commission platform, I wouldn't reccomend switching. I would say it's important to evaluate where your clients are coming from (the platform itself or somewhere else) and if you like the experience you are having with the website you are using to set up your commissions form :)

Hello! I love your art! really nice work ^w^ I dont know how long you've been an artist on Artistree or if you are in the Artistree marketplace, but if you are I would like to ask how many people commissioned you from the marketplace and not your social media, like how many new people saw your art the decided to commission you simply from finding you in the Artistree marketplace. As it's a very new website not many people know of it. I waited months to get into the marketplace and jet now its been more then half a year and I still havent gotten any commissions from there yet. I do get commissions from Fiverr tho.
@artyrebyАй бұрын
Hello! I've been using Artistree for 10 months now and I've only been in the marketplace for a month or so. For now, all my clients have found me through social media. I must add though that when I used to use Fiverr, only 1 person ever found me through the website itself. So while I agree that Artistree is new and not many people know about it, I've never had much luck with any commissions websites marketplace ever xD I would say that if you have no trouble getting clients on Fiverr, you might as well keep using that as it seems like it's working better for you :)

Hi! Just curious, can you still get clients if u dont have any/or large following on any social media? Currently don't have one, or have a large number. So i was wondering of its possible
@artyreby5 ай бұрын
Hello there! Unfortunately I doubt that it's possible to get clients ON ARTISTREE without ANY social media following... But you don't necessarily need a big one to get a commission. I don't have a big following and still managed to get a few commissions requests from people that found me through Instagram. I would say that Fiverr might be better at first if you don't have any social media at all because it already has an established list of clients that have their own account on there.

Hii, thank you for the video! I'd like to ask how you get/attract clients to commission you? It's my first time opening a commission and I'm very inexperienced in this topic 😭
@artyreby3 ай бұрын
Hello! I'm glad the video was helpful! I wouldn't say I have a strategy to attract more clients, more so I try to get my name out there (and the fact that I'm taking commissions) as much as possible. For example, I would make sure to write down in every bio of every social media I have that I'm open for commissions. I also used to add a second slide to every single Instagram post, which would serve as a "promo" slide (telling the viewer that they could commission me and other useful things). Also (this depends on what you would want to draw for the client), I would specifically make fanarts/illustrations of certain subjects/themes (such as fanarts of Baldur's Gate 3, or D&D themed illustrations) to attract a specific audience that would want a commission of that. Lastly, I would say it's good to try keeping the social media/portfolio as professional as it can be; for example, I like to have a specific structure for all my descriptions and bios. I would want my viewers (and potential customers) to know who I am, what I do and where else they can find me/commission me. And that's about it... Although you could also try to promote yourself through "artists support" videos/reels, but I don't think that does much considering that the main audience of those videos are all artists who are also trying to get commissioned... So I wouldn't even consider that a strategy personally. Either way, I hope this can give you some ideas of what you could try and I wish you good luck for your first commissions ♥

See, I've been using Artistree for a couple of months, and I still haven't been able to get clients. It's hard to tell if my work is actually showing up anywhere in it. Plus, the red dot on my profile pic is very misleading. I keep thinking it's a request, but it's not. My autistic brain can't handle this confusion. 😓😓

Does Artistree have an existing user base of clients? Or just artists? Because that's what Fiverr has edge for, I think.. But Artistree has the advantage for clients not needing to create an account to avail commissions..

I strongly suggest looking at Art Mentor's video , I looked up after this video because like most things that are too good to be true , this one is one of them.

From what I could tell indeed there are just artists account on Artistree cause clients don't have to make an account. Sure, I can see how Fiverr can be beneficial in that regard though :) I am personally fine with that, especially considering that all my clients always found me through social media and not through the commission website itself.

From what I can tell, the website lets you use either PayPal or Stripe. You can read more of that here artistree.io/faq

But dont u have to link a paypal for artistree? You’ll still have to pay fees because of Paypal, or does artistree take care of that?
@artyreby2 ай бұрын
According to their website, for some non-USA artists, it is possible you will be paid a bit more, or a bit less for your commission (usually within 1%) since It’s difficult for them to calculate PayPal fees exactly, due to the variance in interchange fees on different types of credit cards. However they apparently have a system that will automatically alert them if that happens. I personally never had this issue and always got paid fully since it's the customer who gets charged more automatically from the start to cover PayPal fees as well (at least from my understanding). I only noticed the PayPal fees when customers would leave me extra tips of €5 and I ended up receiving around €4. If you want to learn more about this, Artistree explains everything here artistree.io/faq .
