Nice video bro! I've never ridden an EUC in my life and don't know anything about what the current statistics are on crashes and most likely injuries but coming from motorcycling I think second most important thing after your helmet is a spine protector. That's a really scary life long injury I'd do anything to avoid. Maybe look into a chest/spine protector or even the full mx tops that have shoulders and elbows as well just because they are fast to put on, it's just like a jacket. Anyways good video, it's always nice to see people encouraging the use of safety equipment. It's always important to be prepared for when shit hits the fan.

Definitely agree, went down on my back going 32mph on my Lynx due to wobbles in my first 80 miles on it. Glad I had my Merlin Riding Hoody on with a CE2 rated back protector, though lesson learned about snapping the anti-ride up strap to your pants. Had some road rash which cleared up quick but I was feeling it for a couple months in my back. Can't imagine how bad it would have been without my gear on: Scorpion Exo AT950 helmet, Demon Flexmeter wristguards, Slide rated riding pants, Lehtt Dual-axis knee pads, and a Merlin Riding Hoody with CE2 D30 back protector and CE1 shoulder and elbow. Lynx held up great from the crash, just some scraps on the pedals and some mild abrasions on the kickstand and handle on one side. Luckily the past 1600 miles have been free of high speed crashes. Just low speed mud bails. Had the same experience with the Dainese Drake Super Air Tex Pants built in pads. I ended up just wearing the Dual-axis over them, the mesh textures makes them slide down way less then on jeans.

I wear a Lazyrolling Armored Jacket for back, elbow, shoulder and scratch since it's lined with kevlar. One with reflective upper body and one like a hoodie for summer. Ofc very easy to put on. On really warm days I use only elbow no jacket.
@floatypiet12 күн бұрын
I‘d love to have one! But they are so expensive! But it must be amazing to just jump into your protecting normal looking jacket and go for the ride 😍 and in the summer, just go faster and you cool down again 😛😂

Thank you for this articulate and thoughtful discussion of safety equipment - and the beautiful scenery. You are an engaging presenter and an experienced and capable EUC riser. You put effort into making your videos and I want to learn as much as I can from them. At about 05:35 + you recommend that riders not listen to music etc. when riding in traffic. I agree: The traffic sounds are the important sounds and the music or podcasts and etc. are not essential and are distractions. In communications, there is a concept called Signal-to-Noise Ratio. For clear and effective communication, one should maximize the signal and minimize or eliminate the noise. During your video, I wanted to hear every word you spoke so that I could learn from you. It was easier to understand your dialogue In the sections of video that did not have any background music; a bit less easy when there was background music. Your dialogue was the important signal. The music did not add useful information and from a communications effectiveness point of view, it was just noise. It was a practical demonstration of Signal-to-Noise Ratio. You make good videos and I hope you continue. Your videos could be even better if you entirely eliminate the music during the portions when you are speaking.

Thank you for your feedback! Next time I’ll make sure that the music will be more quiet :)

An other helmet tip. FASTEN THE BUCKLE. I was just in a crash with my helmet on loose. After the first hit to the ground, it came off and rolled down the hill. Next my head bounced off the concrete at my temple. RUINED my night. I'm relatively okay tho. Just fasten that damn buckle, people.

If you really don't like helmets, get the Bonehead Dynamic or Aero (depends on your head shape, call them before placing the order). You have to wait for them to make it but it's amazing in a lot of ways, being designed, built, and tested for skydiving. Zero wind noise inside the helmet and the isolation from outside is really good - I have a hard time understanding anyone with it on while I can hear all the outside road noises and things happening around me fine. Yeah it's not DOT rated but for most people terminal velocity is about 120MPH/200kph so even in a DOT rated helmet I'm gonna be pudding in a cup if a smack a bollard with my head. However, a REAL carbon fiber weave helmet is night and day performance compared to plastic/polycarbonate helmets. I've wrecked several times with it now and man having a super feather light helmet really saves on the whiplash and the carbon fiber barely has a mark on it because it's springy and resilient - but since it's super light and form fitting my head does not hit the ground near as hard or as damaging given the same crash as when I have my old big motorcycle helmet on. I can drink through the front of the helmet lol when its on you can't see it - really. The visor is impossible to fog; I've had condensation dripping down it but it refuses to fog. No idea how they did it but I'm getting a couple extra windscreens because this one is starting to get scratched up (the helmet looks basically the same as when I took it out the box, though, it doesn't seem to pick up scratches). The entire inside is customizable and they have all the inserts for you. It's a little more than a TSG or lower end Predator (440 USD) but it's definitely less than many helmets and it's built for you. :-) Again, for the people that don't like helmets, this is for you - full face but invisible and almost as light as a regular hat :-)
@TheVFXAssault2 ай бұрын
That helmet isn't a helmet tho. It won't serve the purpose of a helmet in case of a crash. It was not built to do that. It's just an expensive face cover.

Thank you mate! It may be that I rode over 10.000 km on EUCs already. Do you use Powerpads? I’d say they are really important. You can adjust the angle of the pedals (that’s still on my To-do list😄). And you can also try to carve more. Always try to keep one leg pressed to the wheel (like skiing, I never skied though). I remember not feeling comfortable on my Lynx when going faster that 55 or so. I think it took me around 1000 km to feel really safe on it, but I’m still learning to control it better. I hope anything of the tips helped. Also, I can always recommend to ride off-road. Not fast, but tricky single trails. You’ll always need to adjust your foot position and wheel. I think this is a great training as well :)

Because I like sound quality. I find even the SENA Harman Kardon doesn’t sound great. So I prefer spending no extra money and have better sound quality. And having a louder speaker hanging around I find embarrassing. I don’t want even more attention on my wheel and blast my music or navigation around.

Was it a cutout. What happened
@floatypiet3 ай бұрын
A cutout (or cut off) is when you ask for more than what the wheel can deliver. Meaning the power of the motor is not strong enough to keep you balanced or the battery is so low that it can’t provide you with the power. The result is that your EUC turns off like it did in the intro. To prevent it from happening you can set your PWM (safety margin) at 75 or 80%, so your wheel starts beeping and gives you a tiltback (brakes you) when reaching the limit. I hope this was understandable, if not feel free to ask :)
