Sensational video Chris & Jesse! It sums up the road trip & event weekend perfectly. We’re already itching to get back there ... See you at the ‘23 Snowy Classic

Thanks for having us guys. Next time don’t let that lead car drive off without giving me a tow up Beloka ☺️

Great video Chris - I’ve gone straight into training after that ride and will definitely do it again next year.

Love your drone shots. Shows the beauty of the Aussie mountains really well. A few weeks of targeted training to boost your W', FRC or HIE (it has lots of names, basically your anaerobic capacity above threshold) and you would have hung on with Jesse up Beloka easy! Great video.
@ChrisMillerCycling2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Phil, still getting my head around the drone but it sure adds some value. 100% the plan from here, I have a good base so time to start working on the intensity.

Was it the clouds or the two ugly white blokes in Lycra with their shirts off that was mesmerising 😂😂😂

Great VLOG - insightful thanks ! 18 months into this sport and loving it. Fab ride and fab weather ! Did 110k Challenge and ran out of gears on Beloka !! Need some dinner plates ! Going to get some hill climbing gears vs race gears. Definitely doing 2023 and probably 170k - got to do the whole course before as you suggest to know what to expect. New subscriber, Thanks

That looks like so much fun! Keen to try that one out next year! Havent done any fondo events yet, so far just riding in and around Sydney. Are there any you can recommend?

This is a great one, but does require some solid training. I would suggest the Mudgee Classic is the most accessible.

Nice 3000m's climbing! 34x32 for me all day. Although I can't push as many watts as you guys so no point riding anything bigger.

I rode that climb in the 39x19 as a junior back in 94😂

Legend! That’s bloody impressive. I reckon your bike probably weighed 9kg as well
@gac44602 жыл бұрын

Good vid, course looks tough. 39x28?? That's loco. Did you do that on purpose? Mis-calculate or simply overlook it?
@ChrisMillerCycling2 жыл бұрын
Little column A, little column B. Left my climbing cassette down at the farm in Berry, it just never got around to buying a new one. Honestly it was a pretty stupid move, I’ve been up that wall so many times, I should have known better.

L’Etape 2016, first ever fondo, naive and clueless…rode Beloka with 39x28. Cramped up before Perisher. Never made that mistake again. Now run 52/34 upfront - works fine and a 32 on the back. Spin all day

Have you put any thought into coming across to Kalgoorlie for the Goldfields Cyclassic? It has over 80 years tradition and is the richest handicap race in Australia. Would love to get you over for it!

Do you know why AusCycling cancelled The Race aspect of the Snowy Classic?
@ChrisMillerCycling2 жыл бұрын
I actually don’t know, but my guess (and it’s a guess) would be it will have something to do with the extra constraints and expense adding a ‘race’ wave brings to the event organiser. Having done some work with the L’Etape guys in the past, I know that adding that wave can add 6 figure sums to the overall cost of the traffic management, and given what a small element the ‘race wave’ is in terms of overall participation, I reckon it was just to prohibitive.
