I believe that your channel grows in conjunction with your skill level. If you get a bunch if subs from a shout out or viral video and your skill level is not there to maintain those subs your channel will suffer a sub crash and it will Kill the channel. I speak from experience.

Agree Steven and I have seen it happen. Some channels review other channels that they think might hit 1000 subs. It was a total of 3 channels, I looked back and all of them got stuck on this particular case. I also think it's a bad idea to "beat" the algorithm. If you get very good at what you do you will grow, there is now shortcuts! Hope it will turn out good for you Steve, stay safe!

Thanks for the reminder Peter... I've been on KZbin for six years and haven't missed a week during this time. I'm still a smaller channel but I'm enjoying the journey and waiting for the moment to pop. If you don't enjoy it, you won't keep uploading!

Understanding that around 60-80% of what you shoot won't be used has been a huge help, not only for KZbin, but for weddings and other video work. You helped me out when you said "show, don't tell". I always think "My god this video is boring" and it's because I explain too much, and don't get to the point when I do explain. Planning is VERY important, and something ad simple as writing down a few key ideas can help make a video make sense and flow well. Over 40 videos, and only 44 subscribers - it's tough - but with each video I'm learning and putting in the reps of using the gear, setting the lights, speaking more concisely, helping me with my business and personal growth.

great video, really spoke to me about the over thinking and the build up of an idea becoming too much to tackle, and rather creating from the initial spark. i def still copy my favorite creators, it allows me to have a solid jumping off point, but i def be trying to play into my strengths rather than try and fit my message into the style of someone else. the second draft is always where the moments come together, literally without the buffer that existed in the first draft.

I did the same audio mistake a few days ago. I visited a tuner shop to record a new video, and accidentally had the TRS to TRRS adapter input into my camera. Was disappointed when I got home, after a long video, I realized it was Audio-less 😅 Ended up re-recording the video with the people working there. They were pretty chill about it :) (only regret is, the first draft had a lot more action)

All very very well spoken information. Yet I do want to add just one thing to it. I edit for a Good friend that owns a KZbin channel called wild Wild West. We noticed that our audience actually enjoys when we drag out the videos (length wise) while still keeping it concise… so the note I’m adding is that the overall length shouldn’t matter too much but rather if you are continually pushing the footage along or just dragging on talking to the camera. Idk if that makes sense but just a note I thought might be useful:) maybe a more in-depth response to what you said. Good video tho!
