Hi Martin, hope you're doing well. Thanks for the videos and all of the info you give us through your videos. Also, I like to know if you are completely off the grid, I mean, you are not in any way connected to city power? I saw your solar system and I was wondering if what you have right now is enough for your home?.... I'm wondering because I've just bought 15 acres in Texas, Red River County and want to sep up the same system for my new home there.

That was going to be my suggestion as well. He will just need to measure the trim and assure it will cover both sides if he does that. Wise that he has not put in all the screws yet.

One thing you could have done to possibly lessen the issue was adjust all the panels left an inch. Then instead of one flush end and one bad end, both would be off by an inch and it would be easier to cover up with the edge piece.

Mister Johnson it looks like to me from the piece that was leaning up against the truck that you have more than one rib on it. You can put it upside down and put it over the rib. It looks like it might be big enough

As you have already stated measure twice cut once, however safety Sally was shaking her fist at you for standing on the top of the latter. I try not to be a critic of what other people do but being on a published video we all should be showing good examples. I been watching your video's for a long time, and I appreciate of what you all been doing for your family. Work safe, God Bless.

i miss those moose! i built a house a few miles west of Sandpoint starting in 2004, and started by sleeping in a tent, but discovered i had put it right next to the moose trail. they would walk by each night, probably on their way down to the river. so much wildlife in that area... moose, bears, elk, turkeys, bobcats, all on our 5 acres

You should have run the roofing barrier up the wall at least a foot. Maybe even installed ice and water shield. Snow accumulate at the wall and the roof. If you have a leak that will be your problem

"Measure twice, cut once.": I've found working out from the middle helps but sometimes you just can't avoid being a few inches short. When you have to scab on another piece to squeeze out a few more inches you need to bite the bullet and let the new piece overlap a rib or two to keep it stable. Your roofing looks good to me and Santa Clause is the only one who will notice any minor things but he doesn't exist so it's no problem.

I had the same roof problem. The siphon ridge was not bent accurately so each panel was 1/8 narrower that spec. You can move the whole roof ONE inch to the left and have just 1 inch at each end to cover with the end fascia/gable trim. That plastic cover is not to prevent scratches in transit. It is to prevent scratches when the flat stock is sliced and bent on a bending brake. I covered the gap with gable trim that had a longer top dimension.

Hi Martin, love the videos! I've done alot of metal roofing and always ordered extra sheets and found myself with JUST enough. A 36" sheet is is the steel before the the profile is rolled into it. The finished product ends up narrowed. Your measurents and order were probably correct. It was likely a communication error with the supplier. Keep up the good work!

You may want to add a snow guard rail to your roof over the driveway, Fabral "SB Snow Break". This can keep the snow from dumping in a big pile blocking your path out of the garage.

If you don't know if you have enough roof sheeting, it seems to me that you have to divide from the center to both sides. You can also shorten the projecting roof on both sides.

tip on removing protective films altogether; heat it up a bit when its cold and as you peel it off do it in the way of stretching (think of an obtuse angle). Its natural t us to do the opposite (think of acute angle). The glue on films is applied at an angle, if you find that angle it comes off with the film, leaving no residue behind. Thank you for your channel, you guys are great!

Martin it Looks amazing! Terpentine should remove the residue. I just started watching your channel so have to get caught up. My wife and I are building a Timber Frame Cabin on our "off-grid" property near Flagstaff Arizona. I milled the Timbers myself. Made the tools to do the Timber Frame Mortise and Tenon joinery. Three years from forest to frame. Just raised the frame last month. Started milling the roofing lumber last week (2"x6" T&G). I'm hoping now that the frame is up it will go a little faster. I have to do a shed roof design for both the side addition and the covered deck. Tim (Blacksmith and Timber Framer)

Your gloves look like mine, the fingers are worn out. lol Looking at your chimney in the background, I couldn't see any support bars helping hold it on windy days. Maybe I just couldn't see them but if there aren't and supports you might think about putting some on. Just a thought. As far as the roof being short, I wouldn't worry about it to much if its going to get covered. You have underlayment on there to protect the OSB. :)

Man I just watched ur every video from time u came to this place... I have a few suggestions for u.. I lost a few old cattle last month I thought it was because of cold and the new feed I stared.. Later I lost a good cutting horse.. That got me worried.. So I did some research talked to a few doctors.. Later found out it was a flee that was transmitted from the deer and moose that graze on the same land.. So I am just suggesting every homesteader this.. Put up a fence around ur property and then put a fence around ur grazing field... I few 100 dollars on fence can save u 10of thousands of dollars

Safety Sallie messed up. I spent many years using ladders in my job an a University in Wisconsin, I also trained student employees to help me with my work. It was a complete violation to stand at the top of a step ladder. In fact we had a safety dept. at the university that monitored employees working on campus.
