I've always had self-confidence and no confusion about my sexuality, but there is so much I've found about godly masculinity that isn't innate but taught. Sometimes it's perspective, sometimes it's understanding what an appropriate expression is, rarely is it actual behavior modification for me, but all of these things are necessary and it's astonishing to me to look back and see, the more I learn, how little I was given in my upbringing.

It really is amazing how easy it is to communicate, and yet baffling how hard it apparently is since so many of us never received it. I keep thinking, what's the excuse? Is it that the older generation didn't know, or that they assumed it didn't need to be taught, or that they were too afraid to teach it because they had become emasculated as well? I will make a difference, I tell you that

it doesn't say "lest they lose heart." It says do not provoke them to wrath, but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. In other words, if you are an inconsistent disciplinarian, you exasperate your kids by making them subject to the whim of your displeasure instead of helping them to be governed by God's law

Col 3:21, not Eph. Did you find that diagnosis for yourself, or did someone tell you? As someone else who didn't have dream parents, I became a parent myself. I didn't let my parents' perceived shortcomings settle my future for me as well. They were only in charge of my past. Becoming a parent myself opened my eyes to how hard parenting is, and so how much mercy I hope my children will give me, and so how much mercy I should also show my parents.

If you appreciate Lewis, you might check out G. K. Chesterton. He was Roman Catholic, so probably some theological perspective to bear in mind, but had a keen grasp of both the intellectual and cultural issues of his time. Noted, and rightly so, for great wit as well as intellectual acuity. The "issues" of his time developed into the trends of the 20th century (he was a bit older than Lewis), so it is of more than academic interest towards understanding what has happened since the "great war".

Ehhhhhh this is good for the ever shrinking dogmatic community. It's not BAD Uncle Doug, I think it's just late. Atlas has already fallen. What is bad will become worse. What is good will become more distant. The women have been effectively conditioned to selfish independence and the men have been corralled into the pens. Now I'm all for trying to revive the culture, but I suspect and observe that God's wrath is still very much at play. And that says something. If his hand is not being TRULY seen, we need to keep asking why. And again I agree with this, I just think the roots need to be cut more in this.

so redeem the word "use" as it differs from "abuse" and redeem the mantra "act like men" as it differs from "happy wife happy life"
@jjmonty8090
@jjmonty8090 2 жыл бұрын
Perhaps one should also consider redeeming the phrase happy wife, happy life. There is nothing objectively wrong with having a happy wife. It does lead to a happier life. The reason we don’t like the phrase is because it means to everyone that we should give our wives everything they want. Yet our wives are most happy when we are godly, strong men and in our place as leader of our homes. This way makes my wife happy, thus, “happy wife, happy life”.
@scottmacdonald5170
@scottmacdonald5170 2 жыл бұрын
@@jjmonty8090 I think the deeper meaning is men avoiding the wrath of their wife by keeping them happy. That's a bad goal. Sure it could be redeemed somewhat to mean that we want to contribute to our wives happiness. But overall, I'm not a fan of even a partially redeemed phrase because it undermines the covenantal nature of marriage. If falls off the horse to one side so to speak.
@jjmonty8090
@jjmonty8090 2 жыл бұрын
@@scottmacdonald5170 I understand your point and agree that usually, that is what the phrase would mean. What I am doing is fighting back against the "other" side of the ditch, that is, where men here on this thread (and anytime Wilson posts a man/wife video) take it too far as far. Some of the posts show despicable men gathering Biblical ammo to use against their wives, forgetting that their wives are the other part of THEM. (Eph 5)... Forgetting that the marriage is a representation of Christ... Forgetting the man's role of dying for his bride...if they ever knew at all. Yes, feminism is rampant. Yes, men are cast in a negative light. Yes, the scales should be just and balanced. Yes, wives have done wrong. But why should we allow the pendulum to swing, with severity again, this time toward men's rights and exaltation? May it never be. May we disciple our young men and old to know that they carry the weight of leadership, authority, responsibility, kingship/priesthood etc. AND teach them the beauty, royalty, wonder, intoxication of love (Prov 5) etc. of the wife of our youth. She is the most precious gift one could ever receive, outside of the grace and Salvation of our Lord.

@@jjmonty8090 "But why should we allow the pendulum to swing, with severity again, this time toward men's rights and exaltation?" You've got a problem with men's rights? And if by exaltation, you mean 'bringing up from a low position,' then yeah, if they have been downtrodden wrongly, they should be 'exalted.' Not the word I would use, though. It was your word choice, which I think is unhelpful. I'm with you on the premise of not falling into either ditch. I'm a little wary of whether your methods accomplish that, so if I oppose something you say, read it that way.
@jjmonty8090

I have multiple questions that I desire to have unraveled. First, you make almost no case for men who would be considered to be more "emotional" than most others. Second, in your eighth video you mention that you shouldn't tell the girl you are taking out anything big about your personal life. I thoroughly disagree with this point. I am not going to take up this wonderful young woman's valuable time and not let her know what she is getting herself into with me. Now, I am not saying that I don't have a lot to offer, I do, but I believe with all my heart that a woman deserves to know what kind of lifestyle I plan on leading her in for the rest of our existence sooner rather than later. What happens if we go on all these dates and I have told her extremely little about myself and I have made a good impression on her, as you said by my following your advice, when she asks me where I see myself in ten years and I say at a pulpit somewhere in Japan? She had no intentions of ever leaving the U.S and now all of a sudden we have a major issue at hand. We went on all these dates thinking we might work out only to find that our plans for the future are drastically different to the point that we can no longer be together? Now we are both left with a sad reality and heartbreak that could have been avoided on day one if I had only shared the path of life I planed on leading this entire time.

@@horrificpleasantry9474 Oh that's interesting. I hadn't thought of it that way. I know what asserting oneself looks like and I've definitely seen some men out there who carry themselves like whipped dogs when their wives are present, I was just clarifying that asserting oneself as a man isn't some sort of exercise in "two eyes for one eye," if that makes any sense at all.

First time watching this channel, had to watch twice to realize he was talking to married men in the church. Expected a few verses from the Bible to support this edifying advice. I was wrong, just like the time I thought I married a decent Christian woman. Salt please, got a plate of bitterness here! Live for pleasure, laugh at others misfortunes, and love yourself. On the contrary. Paul's view of not getting married seems more peaceful, but then my argument for masterbation would have made me blind. Guess I was the idiot for believing that old saying. Realized when I said "you fool" I bit off more than I could handle. Life seems to be dangerous, should I not worry about tomorrow? Jesus has the keys and he is the one we should seek. I didn't hear much about him in the video.

@@robertfishter2862 thank you for the suggestion. Romans ch 1:26 God hands them over to shameful lust. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. The verse prior to this tells us why! If you take this video as just this video you may not be getting sufficient nourishment on marriage and how Jesus and the Church aren't too different from a man and a woman in a relationship or marriage if you will. And now for that verse... Romans ch 1:25 They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator - who is forever praised. Amen. Genesis ch 1 we find out about the Creator right off the rip and John ch 1 will bring you to an understanding of why Jesus is so important. God's amazing plan unfolding before mankind's eyes.

Key phrase is "in Christ." In other contexts, such as marriage, the most important identifiers are male and female. Is there some utility in calling my brother the Hispanic spouse, or his wife the black spouse (or whatever)?

Wow. Another title showing the rather salacious cast of DW's mind. Seriously, what is the obsession with the constant sexual imagery? How many men in your audience upon seeing this title immediately "go there" in their thoughts? Go ahead, I know you're going to delete this post too.

@@cosmictreason2242 It's not an argument. It's an observation. DW is being deliberately provocative with this title. I'm sure many of his fans chortled with approving delight when they saw it. Does he ever consider Philippians 4:8?

@ChickenHeart he’s deliberately getting people’s attention with the title so they’ll click? The horror. It stands out because the thought of making your wife a lesbian is strange and obviously counterproductive, so one wonders what they could possibly do to accomplish that. And then he tells them.
