Not the fault of Greeks, or Bulgarians, the former self-identifying ethnic Bulgarians of the former Yugoslavia hide their actual ethnic heritage. And now that half the country claim to be apparently antihellenic founders of the Hellenistic period, it is not the fault of Greeks that so many foreigners unethcially try to hide their mistake of recognizing them as "Macedonians"", Greeks warned everyone in good faith not to engage in ethnic engineering. Now you see the results
@mydogsbutler3 ай бұрын
Real credible how nearly everyone that bizarrely recognized them them as "ethnic" Athenians... um...Macedonians plays stupid as they violate the Prespa agreement by continuing to ridiculously try to link themselves to ancient macedonians. . One wonders how the modern British would react if everyone starting claiming the western French as "ethnic" English their language English, Republic of England, as they claiming Queen Elizabeth 1st their national hero and insisted the modern British were "occupying" England. Lame.

Let's examine the Greece-Macedonia issue which is often overlooked. In 1923, as a result of the population exchange between Greece and Turkey, over 1.2 million Anatolian Greeks were forced to relocate to Greece from Turkey, primarily to Aegean Macedonia (now Northern Greece) part of Macedonia that Greece got in 1913. Prior to this, the ethnic composition of Aegean Macedonia was primarily Macedonian, with Greeks constituting a minority. Following the exchange, the Greek population in Aegean Macedonia and Greece grew significantly. Many Macedonians were killed and expelled from Aegean Macedonia (now North Greece), so Greek settlers from Anatolia can be resettled in the vacated homes and lands where Macedonians were living, resulting in a shift in the region's ethnic makeup. Interestingly, many of the Greeks displaced from Turkey did not speak Greek as their mother tongue, yet they now claim to be the true descendants of Alexander the Great and Philip II. About the name, when Greece took Aegean Macedonia in 1913, it was renamed to Northern Greece. However, in 1988 in anticipation of Macedonia independence from Yugoslavia, Greece reverted to calling the region Macedonia, so they can create further tension between our countries, to make problem about our name and history. Here is what Dr. John Shea sad in "Macedonia ang Greece", 1997, p.282 "Greece did not refer to any part of its current territory as Macedonia, until 1988, when Papandreou's government officially adopted the name Macedonia, to replace that of Northern Greece. This point added weight to the notion that the dispute with Macedonia was MANUFACTURED one".

When 1976 we travelled Skopje area we were amazed when seeing very same wooden houses like in Finland. Afterwards we got the inform, those were send there from our country`s aid, for the families of Jugoslavia people, after the big earthquake in the area. Also driving on the bridges which had huge holes, where our car could fall down! "Safety" for the traffic was only big rocks placed around the holes... ;) ! Quite an adventure for us 4 young guys, aged around 20 years more or less, to drive around Europe first, but not last time!😁

Thank you visiting, creating this beautiful scenery, and sharing the history of 🕊🔆Macedonia🔆🕊 I suggest you watch "The Macedonian", a Polish Institute documentary on KZbin about how Greece got hold of the Macedonian region - Aegean Macedonia. Our people were forced to flee to the mountains of what they now hatefully refer to as North or Skopje, and us as northerners or skopians. Those who had no choice but stay, forced to change their names to Greek names. The Macedonian language prohibited even within households with Greek millitary patrol and punishments such as tongue cutting and death. The problem Greeks have isn't with us but with their black and white mentality. In their mindet, we cannot be Macedonian and speak a Slavic language. In their (and Bulgarian's) world view, all of our 2 million grandparents lied to us about our ethnicity. That Tito magically erased whatever we were before. It's simply deeply rooted racism. But in this land, the sun shines and we endure. Our grandparents endured physically. We will endure the psychologically. Even when the numbers are against us.. They always have been anyway The Macedonian children will once be free to be! Macedonia Timeless ✝️🔆🕊

@@Oblivium Macedonians were majority in what is now north greece (historic macedonia as you say) until 1923 when greeks from asia minor were brought and settled in this region. Macedonians were forcibly “helenized”(their names were changed, they were banned to speak their mother tongue and forced to speak greek etc.) and those who refused were killed or expelled ( most ot them ended up in today north macedonia or in bulgaria’s capital Sofia). The northern border of Historic Greece was mount Olymp, Macedonia was never part of Greece
@Oblivium3 ай бұрын
@@carli2302 Quite literally no census supports your claim. But for the sake of argument, let us pretend Skopians made up the majority, it still doesn't make them the descendants of the Ancient Macedonians. They are a Slavic people, who, with the help of genetic studies, proves they are the descendants of Slavic tribes that settled in the Balkans and aren't the descendant of the Ancient Macedonians. Skopians speak the Bulgarian language. The so-called 'Macedonian langauge' is just a Bulgarian dialect. No one in North Macedonia claimed to be the descendants of the Ancient Macedonians till 1920s. Before that, they claimed to be Bulgarians. The fact that Skopians speak a language different from the Ancient Macedonians is another proof that they were a different people. Alexander the Great himself identified with Greece. Even saying: "Your ancestors came to Macedonia and the rest of Hellas and did us great harm, though we had done them no prior injury. I have been appointed leader of the Greeks, and wanting to punish the Persians I have come to Asia, which I took from you..." - Alexander's letter to the Persian King, Darius, in response to a truce plea, as quoted in the Anabasis of Alexander by Roman historian, Arrian and... "Holy shadows of the dead, I’m not to blame for your cruel and bitter fate, but the accursed rivalry which brought sister nations and brother people, to fight one another. I do not feel happy for this victory of mine. On the contrary, I would be glad, brothers, if I had all of you standing here next to me, since we are united by the same language, the same blood and the same visions." - Alexander addressing the dead Greeks of the Battle of Chaeronea, as quoted in the Histories of Alexander the Great by Roman historian, Quintus Curtius Rufus

Very few people in the west understand what this country is all about. Historically, ancient Macedonia was located on the territory of today's Northern Greece. There were also regions with the name Macedonia in what is Turkey today. Macedonia is also called Pirin Mountain in Bulgaria - Pirin Macedonia. Modern Macedonians are historically Bulgarians. History knows no Macedonian nation or state during the Middle Ages or the Renaissance. Such an ethnicity never existed. These people have the same history as the Bulgarians, speak the same language, and most Bulgarians and Macedonians are related. After the collapse of the Ottoman Empire, they fought endless and fanatical wars for unification with Bulgaria, but they did not succeed. After the second world war, they were divided and a new Macedonian nation began to be formed - then a new Macedonian language was invented - which is actually Bulgarian. The whole story with the ancient Macedonians is an attempt to hide the reality that they are Bulgarians. In the last two years, part of the population in Macedonia, Kosovo and Albania dared to identify themselves as Bulgarians, and massive repressions followed - all Bulgarian cultural clubs were banned by law, some of the clubs were set on fire, other were shooted with guns, and the members of clubs were severely beaten. At the last Eurovision, the Macedonian representative had the stupidity or the courage to admit during an interview on KZbin that his grandmother is Bulgarian and has Bulgarian citizenship - what followed was 400 death threats and the politicians in this country created a commission to review the his participation - a Bulgarian cannot represents Northern Macedonia. It became an international scandal that reached the European Commission. The discrimination and terror of the Bulgarians and the real history of this land is cruel. The EU set conditions for starting negotiations for the accession of this country - inclusion of Bulgarians in the constitution and guarantee of their human rights. Two years later the politicians in Macedonia refuse to recognize rights for Bulgarians. The history of this country is very ugly and has nothing to do with the ancient Macedonians but with the Yugoslav communists. All those statues are just a facade for the communist repressions and fake history.
