Weird. I used to love it but didn't laugh this time. Maybe I've seen it too much. The funny walk still cracked me up though. I do find fawlty towers overrated. This episode was great but some others were a bit average. Like Monty python really. Most of it was crap but there were some gems.

This was my father’s favourite episode of Fawlty Towers. He was a ten year old German boy when the war ended. Whenever we had our German relatives over, visiting us in Canada, Dad would pop in the video cassette of this episode, telling them “You’re going to love this.” He was right.

It was removed from the platform that has/had the rights to stream _"Fawlty Towers",_ because of the Major using the s.c. _"n-word" a couple times._ Such silly times we live in. The episode finally did get restored but with a disclaimer. I think that _"Little Britain"_ suffered the same fate. But instead of just removing a single episode, the whole show was removed. Stand-up seems to be the only niche left were comedy is still sort of free from wokeism.

I am Norwegian. I have friends in Germany. Some make the same jokes that I do, and some will not hear a word of it. I visited the homes of some of their parents, a father comes to mind. He said - I have been to your country before. All I can do now, is offer you a drink. In German, of course. He then poured me a glass of schnaps. We clinked glasses, and he said "may we never ever fight again". That man is dead now, but I saw in his eyes regret. He was a peaceful man, with no wish for war.

Comedy really does bring people together. My birth mother's family actually fled Poland during the war so I find this hilarious. I was laughing so hard I was crying though I didn't get the Poland joke until I started paying attention in history.

You know what makes this so hilariously funny? Is just how real those Germans are. Everyone else in this show is a complete over-the-top cartoonish caricature, but these Germans aren't acting over-the-top, or like comedians, or anything like that. They're acting like real people would. It's like a group of four totally normal people accidentally wandered into a comedy sketch hahaha

I once met a German couple at my local train station, who were going to London, and we got talking to each other. When the conversation turned to entertainment, they mentioned how they thought British TV was better than German TV. Noting this opinion, I took the opportunity to say "Don't mention the war", and they both started roaring with laughter. So much for Germans having no sense of humour.
