i dont know if you ever inteded for it, but from someone who has recently lost their ridgeback, these videos mean alot. just seeing something that resembles my dogs and seeing their characteristics in other dogs genuinly takes me back to so much happiness.

Excellent, I adopted 2 older rhodesian brothers, and they quickly took over the couch. Sometimes all 3 of us are on it and they usually take turns laying on me. It's a great feeling though....except when my uber beautiful woman comes over and can't get a snuggle with me 😂😂😂 She sits on the other couch...looking, shaking her head, yet smiling. They are warming up to her, told her, it's in the secret of the treats🤣🤣🐕🐕

Oh, as always, your videos are so sweet and heartwarming... and also completely relatable for fellow Ridgie family members! Your Penny is so much like my Hunter... seeing her is a relief to know that my big boy might not be quite so weird after all ❤️❤️ They’d make the best of whacky friends :) All my best to you and your family.. and your furniture/blankies that are never truly yours :)

Marking Our Territory We’ve said for ages that we regret having not named him Dozer, as it would be much more fitting. He’s either snoozing or ploughing through life with no concept of space or size. When there’s a cone involved, the carnage is even worse... but hilarious! Different Dogs are the best.. for All The Reasons, but especially because they teach us a special lesson in patience, I think. :)

Hi I am curious to ask, we are in the middle of adopting a 6 month old dog and the shelter isn't sure the breed and the ridgeback is what I keep finding. Seeing what you think if this could be correct? I'm attempting trying to add the pic but don't know how!

What treats do you use for training

I like freeze dried treats. I usually buy whatever I can find on sale since they tend to be more expensive. Stella and Chewys/Stewarts both have good options

Not many realize just how strong a male Ridgeback can be. Was at a coursing trial where it took three grown men to bring one male Ridgeback to the line. Think about it.

Another great video! I have to ask, what do you use to cover the couch cushions? Is it just a regular bed sheet or did you get something fitted for the couch?
@MarkingOurTerritory5 жыл бұрын
We looked into pet-friendly fabrics, but they were all absurdly priced, so our current solution is to just by a standard robust weave and cover the bottom with these plush blankets from Costco. Big, good quality, inexpensive, easy to wash and they keep away the worst of the wear.

How much exercise daily does a RidgeBack need on avrg?
@Tubby33075 жыл бұрын
G'day mate, Ridgies generally need alot of mental and physical stimulation. A one hour brisk walk at least. Best exercise for them is off leash run and play with other dogs. When they are tired they are at their happiest imo. Great dogs. Cheers

Thanks so much for the feedback, Ridgebacks are the Perfect dogs for my family and the only thing that scared Me was that they maybe need lots of exercise, but 1-2 hrs a day is no problem :)

@tessafox13293 жыл бұрын
We bred these in SA your pups are underweight! With their energy and fast metabolism you need to feed them better! I have ever seen such thin ribcage or loose skin on a ridge back
@MarkingOurTerritory3 жыл бұрын
They're not underweight at all, though it's a very common misconception that a dog whose back ribs you can see is underweight. It's extremely important, especially in large breed dogs, to ensure they don't carry excess weight. Visually, that means they should have a clearly defined "tuck" at behind their back ribs and only a thin layer of fat on those back ribs. Every dog is structurally different, but this rule of thumb holds consistent. Too many Ridgebacks are overfed and end up with barrel bellies that people call "all muscle" when in reality are all fat. This is coming from someone who was guilty of that in the past so I want to make sure others learn from my mistakes!

So is everything dog breed/animal species on the planet. As long as it wasn't a stolen pet, most don't care as there is nothing they can do about it.
