I have a Black Mouth Cur and I really feel like they share the same personalities with Rhodesians. My dog is super duper clingy.

Hi, I'm from CA and looking for an ethical breeder and would like anyone's help and recommendation please. I do not plan to breed or do shows. Just looking to have another RR in my life. It's been 3yr, RIP to my Nova she was 12.5yr and the best part of my life. I rescued her from my local animal shelter when she was 3mo. Would love to be a RR parent again

There is no money in dog breeding. Not a dime. You spend so much money doing it right. Showing and going to events to be around other Rhodie owners and breeders is expensive in itself. You have to spend a bunch of time learning a showing to have a chance of knowing what you are doing so you can make ethical decisions. I have done everything you can imagine with these dogs, but mostly just used them on my farm for what they are made for. That's something they really love. My family has shown all over the US, bred litters, and we still do a lot of breed rescue and just hanging out with them. Please I beg you don't get a dog from a backyard breeder. So many of those dogs end up in rescue is is a pitiful thing. Rhodesian Ridgeback Rescue of the United States is a great place to start if you want to get a nice dog and do some good at the same time. Please spay and neuter and don't buy dogs from backyard breeders or the Amish.

I have had two female and one male Ridgeback. There is no question for me that the male is easier to train, more loyal and protective and just totally easier than the more aloof female.

My wife wanted another dog. I said no, definitely not. She did what most women do, Yea you guessed it, emotional manipulation. You know, the stuff Eve did to Adem in the Garden of Eden. Two weeks later we had a little RidgeBack girl in our house. And in our bed. Now six weeks later my wife is upset that little Storm stole my heart. She accuses me of spending more time with 'my' dog than with her. Well, what did she expect would happen?

Shouldn't be about which you should get ,should be about what dog needs rescuing at that time shouldn't be buying from breeders to line there pockets

This was exactly how I felt when my ridgeback of 12 almost 13 years passed in February. I still feel like that honestly, she’d been in my life from 8 years old to 20 now 21, I didn’t remember a life without her. I’m still very hesitant about getting another ridgeback as I don’t want to look for my girl in another dog but every time I think about possibly getting another and do research on different breeds, I always find my way back to ridgeback’s. Truly such an amazing breed.

My father-in-law has a huge healthy RR who is 2. The dog is friendly and loving and food is everything to him. Now I live with my father-in-law, I want to help out with the dog and hope I can teach him new things especially as I like to run and want to take Moose (the dog) running with me. After 2 running sessions he knows if I grab my traininers we're going out for a run - so I know he's smart and can learn new things. Moose (the dog not my father-in-law) still lunges at other dogs and doesn't really listen. Sodo you recommendd clicker training to positively reinforce good behaviour and commands? Any tips would be helpful!

Just bumped into your videos and I'm so glad I did I went ahead and subscribed! My sister and brother-in-law have three Rhodesian Ridgebacks and they live up north and I will be making the Trek up north at some time and I am pretty determined now after learning about these dogs to get myself a Rhodesian Ridgeback and I do think my preference will be a female. No I would love to get a female from a different line and not the breeder where they get theirs from and they live in Wisconsin are you a breeder or do you or can you recommend a breeder that I can possibly look into? I may not be getting one for another 2 or 3 years give or take but I'm starting now on purchasing things that I am quite sure that I will need or will want for the dog. Also a question for your female penny do you put any kind of vest like a tactical vest on her or a vest for swimming the reason I'm asking is because I really would like to know what size you would recommend and that way I could possibly order one ahead of time LOL we'll look forward to checking out more videos and more information on these dogs... Question if I may, what size menstruation covers do you use on Penny I might as well get some of those too

I commented on this video ..although I swear it was longer than 3 years ago...but at that time my rhodesian pit mix was still a baby turning 3. I love animals so.much and growing up with a dog...she came home when I was 5 and died when I was 19....and it devastated me so badly...I decided not to bring one into.my adult home....because the loss is more than i can bare. I enjoyed my friends dogs, I had dogs stay for weeks or months like my sisters dog...knowing that ultimately that dog would return home. I made it issue free until 6 years ago my boyfriend brought home my little diggy without asking, without regard for the pain my love for him would bring sooner than later, my boyfriend even claimed he would scoop the poop, potty train, and be the parent....he knew I wasn't trying to be What men say and what they do....I had to Google potty training, I got so sick of a yard full of poop I shoveled all of it up and chucked it in the bed of his truck, I taught digger all his fabulous tricks. Bang!!play dead Speak Roll over High fives I could go on 3 years ago this video reminded me of all the reasons we have to accept their short lives and live with all that love and the.blessings they are. Today.... I had to hunt down this video.... Because less than a week ago... I sat in the vets office ..thinking we needed nothing more than an anal sac drained... Never had issues before...but...the scooting, bloody farts, just all this weird stuff happening overnight. I couldn't have been more wrong. My joy...my reason to live....my little son....my best friend...THE LOVE OF MY LIFE.... has an aggressive cancer on his anal sac...that Is already too big too fool with....and even if I did...statistically the cancer returns within 6.months...and chemo ...seems like such a mean thing to do to an animal who doesn't undetstand...why he is so sick....and even if all that worked...his life would statically still not mKe it beyond 12 more months. I love.my dog more than myself. I cannot feel good watching his suffering to cope with my grief. I love him so much I will lay him down with a heart so broken...but filled with so much love...and let him go. I am 50 years old currently on hospice for heart failure. My heart is so bad a transplant is out...and my issues don't have any electrical fixes. My boyfriend is long gone. I get up and keep going each day because of my digger dog. Medicine is all that keeps each day coming..outside digg. I'm gonna see my diggy through this...and find your words I need to hear for my personal comfort presently. And...decide....if the medicine is worth it...after he goes. My everything.... Is about to leave me and remind me...I am nothing without him My heart is broken. 6 years....and it comes to this?!?!

We went to buy a female. A make ran after us and we just had to take him as well. Not good to get litter mates but U was not informed. They lived with us for 14 years when Venus got kidney failure Pluto was suffering from bad spondilosis. I sent them to again bow bridge together. He would not function without her. He ducked her ear all his life they were always together. I miss them dearly even though it has been 10 years. In our pack Lucy the little Fox terrier was the Matriarch. She was bigger than them when they arrived. She socialised them and they always respected her as the boss.

Best dog I ever had was a female ridgeback / lab mix I got from a shelter at 3/4yrs but she was jacked for a female at no less than 40kg. Took me 3 years to socialize her enough for friends and family, but other dogs was never possible. Whoever had her before broke that part. Wish I could've let her maul them lol

We just got a ridgeback pup simba is 6 months old he is a wonderful dog considering he didn't have a name for 5 months he was worked with but after we picked him up 3 weeks ago he is very stand off of other. He is like velcro to me and my wife. Any ideas how to break him of this . He'll or high water we will never give him up . Our last ridgeback was given to us by friends whose aunt had him and she passed away. Buddy was a year old and training sessions got him so he could be my wife's service dog he was a great loss. Simba is a very loveable dog . I just need some ideas. To reverse what ever is causing his anxiety.

I’m in the Philippines. We moved here from Colorado. Our close friend is a ridgeback foster parent and we fell in love with the breed. We have found listings here in the Philippines, but we are unsure of their ethics and our standards which is what brought me to this channel. It is July and one bedder stated they only sell their puppies at 14 weeks. That’s convenient, they just happen to be 14 weeks old now. Great video, not sure where to turn.

I’m so glad I my girlies when we lived in some somewhat crappy rental properties hahaha there was absolutely ZERO chance either of my dogs would’ve kept a diaper on when they bled, so we just cleaned up behind them as they went. To be fair, neither ever bled THAAAAT that bad, so it wasn’t terrible, but we definitely had to clean up the walls and wash some throwaway sheets plenty haha 😅😅

Damn this is deep but so true. I lost my male Ridgeback, Moe over the winter and have a female beagle. She was so lonely along with me and my wife. We visited our breeder with a new litter to allow our girl blue to visit with some Ridgebacks and just dogs in general. However one just pulled on our heart strings and we ended up getting him. Gus is his name. Boy I forgot how much work it was to train them lol. You forget after they get good for so many years. They are such good dogs. I've never owned a female RR just males. Meanwhile having female beagles. The two breeds get along great. They are family. You made a great video man.
