The Razer Blade 16 is supposedly "new" for 2024 but because of there being a lack of innovation on new laptop GPUs and processors, Razer might have a hard time pretending this laptop is actually new.

The 4090 mobile may be AD103 same as a desktop 4080, but that's where the similarity ends. Slower GDDR6, significantly lower power targets, and high thermal constraints in this mid size laptop. The 4090 mobile at best case scenarios performs equal to a 4070.

Razer... never again. I bought a Razer 15 in 2019 and I had a lot of problems with it. Among them a bloated battery and the screen definitely stopped working just before the end of the warranty period (fortunately). And if you have to open it, just make sure you do it once or twice at most because these tiny screws just can't handle more. But the most annoying part is the customer support. Even though they talk to you like you are their best client ever, they are just inefficient. I managed to get my laptop replaced after three months of endless discussions. One advice if you go RMA and they replace your unit: do not accept a replacement unit with worse specs than the original one, just insist until they offer you at least the same laptop as yours. I finally ended up with a much better unit than the original one because they did not have mine in stock anymore so I was really happy at the end. Except... yeah, the screen of this very new unit is also defective. It's a 360 Hz screen but it's flickering at this frequency, so I can only use it at 60 Hz.... Razer is just deceptive marketing and defective hardware in my opinion, only good for the wow effect of short term reviews.

Starting at $3000 for a 4070 is insanity since that GPU isnt even that great relative to last gen. Razer isnt even that thin or sleek anymore either, since 5.4 lbs is like average size for a gaming laptop. Only Razer fanboys would pay for this

Razer is SUPER proud of their products. The fact that they think they can justify charging $1,000 more than comparable laptops is insane. And if Razer was concerned about the top IO speeds, they would have implemented USB 4 or not gatekeeped Thunderbolt 5 to the 18. This is a joke, and there's no defending this laptop

Actually the Blade 18 with the same CPU & 4090 as tested by Notebookcheck costs $350 cheaper than the otherwise nearly identical Blade 16 SKU ($4,500 vs $4,850) Trading in an 18-inch MiniLED 300hz display for a 16-inch OLED 240hz *IS NOT WORTH THE EXTRA $350*

@@handlemonium if you're going to 'um, actually' someone, make sure you are correct first. 1) the new Blade 18 with a 4090 has a base price of $4,499, without increasing the RAM, storage, going with the mercury edition, or taking the $300 "upgrade" to the 4K 200hz panel. The 16 with the 4090 has a base price of $4,199. Discounts excluded. 2) the only reason why I mentioned the Blade 18 is due to the fact that it is available with Thunderbolt 5 ports in the 4080 and 4090 configs. I didn't discuss the price of it, or compare pricing to the Blade 16. The comment about Razer charging $1,000 more than comparables was referring to competing models, like the Zephyrus G16 and the Legion 9i/7i.

I will say I have had the Razer 15 from 2018, the first year they offered this new chasi (I believe) and I will say the build quality passes the test of time with flying colours, after 6 years everything is still top notch, nothing falling apart and still looking like a million bucks, back then I felt the price hike was worth it because of how far ahead they were in terms of build quality and looks, but in today's market I really cant understand this pricing. Still using my 2018 version often, although thermals struggle now a days if your trying to tackle anything heavy.

I think the performance figures might be better on the 2023, but there were reports of people needing to undervolt the CPU because they would overheat, so I think in the 2024 they fixed it. They also improved the thermals just in general and it runs a lot cooler, and the oled screen is supposed to be a big improvement over the mini LED. For those reasons alone I probably wouldn’t consider the 2023 and I think the 2024 improvements are really welcome.

All these skins in all different kind of styles and colors for up to 10 different styles. For example a carbon fiber optic skin. This is worth mentioning as I also dont like finger prints on my device. Btw: Gaming Notebooks are not suppoed to be thin! You have to get rid of the heat and its not possible with thin notebooks. You guys gotta stop with the expensive weak performing laptops. Just get a desktop.

Ikr For 3000$ you can easily get a solid laptop and another desktop PC with a 4070 And that 4070 will be much more powerful

For work, I, and many of my colleagues have 16 inch intel i9s with 4000 series GPUs because we all travel a lot, and need computers that perform... there is absolutely a legitimate use case for powerful laptops. If this was a niche use case, then major manufacturers like HP and Dell wouldn't have entire product lines committed to this, let alone smaller brands. Whether or not this particular make/model is value for money in that space, I'm not going to say, as I've never used Razer laptops. Maybe try to have some perspective about who would use such laptops before commenting...

@cerealport2726 Of course there's a use case for powerful laptops. The point is this is beyond diminishing returns. Those products lines are low volume high margin by design. The CPU and GPU in this are crippled due to it's power and thermal limitations. You are paying for just the 14900HX / 4090 names. This laptop is designed for the more reasonable configurations that are offered, and sell much higher volume, even with inflated price.

Bruh Is my legit reaction for the Razer Blades. Should've have at least 32GB RAM and 2TB Base. The Keyboard sucks.
