People are surprised by how brutal Shanks is being but forget that since the very beginning of the series when he saved Luffy from the mountain bandits as a kid, that if you hurt his friends he will make you pay and with his future sight he saw how many of his friends were either injured or killed by Kids attack.

In that way shanks is just like roger and kinda luffy too. Roger was easy going normally but had a reputation to become a demon if you touch his friends. Shanks is the same way and he told us that since we first saw him. Shanks and his crew are usually easy going, thry don't pick fights for nothing, but when they do fight, they are ready to kill or be killed. Luffy is getting up there and we saw ut against saint charlos and in the first kaido fight, but he lacks maturity and power to fully turn into a demon

Luffy usually doesn't kill but if he was strong enough, he'd likely have killed kaido in their first dight with how angry he was, and he didn't care to send kaido flying off a floating island into a volcano. Neither of them are truly opposed to killing, especially when their friends are on the line

His goal was always doffy, now its switched to keeping his promise with luffy to beat kaido but mainly to learn more about history and "D". Giving the poneglyph rubbings to shanks would result in a heated conversation and potentially a scuffle, but since Law is far more level headed and has less of an ambition than Kidd to become King, even if it became a fight Shanks would spare Law.

Kids biggest mistake was going for the allies instead of Shanks. Shanks would have done a 1v1 or a crew vs crew and be mercifull and less severe but the second he saw that Kid would just kill all the weaklings under Shanks protection was the moment Kids fate was sealed. Since day 1 Shanks showed that he does not care what you do to him but going after his friends is where he draws the line. This also shows you how powerfull Shanks and his crew is, they have the weakest fleet of all Yonkos including Buggies but still hold their own and protect their territories.

In Big Mom's defence, the situations were very different. There is a lot of 'recovery time' in One Piece fights, and preparedness matters as well. Against Big Mom, Kid was prepared for a slugfest, and fighting alongside one of the best supports in the setting, so he could tank pretty effectively and have cover when needing a breather. Shanks hit him with a surprise attack (Spoilers: negating his Observation Haki with one of his own advanced haki abilities) when he was putting everything into offence, and then Dorry and Broggy double-tapped within a minute. Had Kid declared a proper challenge to Shanks, in a way Shanks would respect, I could see him putting up a similar performance to what he managed in the more-solo sections if his fight against Big Mom. He would still have lost, possibly quite badly, but he would not have been humiliated. Like T-Bone versus Zoro, this was not a standard fight of calls and raises, this was two people going all-in on the first hand, except one can see further into the future, can block his opponent's ability to do the same, and had better cards to begin with.

Shanks said "I love making fun of that kid" when Benn Beckmann tries to convince Luffy that Shanks isn't that mean. Shanks craps on Luffy's dreams, calls him an anchor, doesn't even call him Luffy, just "Kid" usually. When Makino tries to feed the homeless orphan Lufffy, Shanks makes Luffy out to be a leach. When Luffy eats the Gomu Gomu no mi accidentally, Shanks calls him an idiot. Shanks is the kinda guy that would leave a Makino's Baby lying around. He's never been shown to be "kind," he's just beloved by some characters, like the "dangerous arsonist" girl that was hanging on him in Elbaf. Luffy has a tendency to trust everyone too much. He trusted a Cerberus, a skeleton, a Mr. 3, a Buggy; and recently he trusted the sociopath murderer, Rob Lucci.

This just goes to show that both law and kid bountys were overestimated while luffys is DREaDFULLY UNDERESTIMATED. kid and law needed to work together to bring down big mom. Also kid and law both didnt train they just went straight ahead into the new world unlike luffy who got his training arc. This moment was pretty wild in the manga.

Kidd was concentrating all his power to one offensive attack and that moment is his most vulnerable 0 defense at all. Then suddenly out of the blue one of the most powerful character appeared in front of him unleashing one of the most powerful attack to Kidd while he was charging his huge gun. It was actually a big feat for him to still be conscious after receiving that attack. I think Kidd can put up a fight 1 vs 1 against Shanks if he was ready. But of course Shanks will still win.

Idk if i only saw that but this episode was also a good representation of what Zoro said a long time ago when Usopp left the crew in Water 7, he said something about, If the Captain goes down then the whole crew goes down, if the Captain of a crew cannot be strong, then the crew won’t be either, it shows that the Captain has great influence on their crew where Kid was excited, it was making his crew excited as well, when Kid was down, being the captain, the crew knew they were already defeated no matter if they try to fight or not

Here are some info about the subordinate captains of the Red-Haired Pirates like: - “Ball Fingers” Gerotini the captain of the Puddle Pirates, he tends to end his lines with or use frog related words which his crew notes is him flubbing his words, & is voiced by Yūsuke Numata - “Memorial Blade” Fugar is the captain / bandmaster of the Social Club, his epithet in Japanese is “Ireba” which can be a pun on dentures, “fuga” is the Japanese sound effect for someone who is struggling to talk, & he is voiced by Kappei Yamaguchi - “Trembling” Pururu the captain / “princess” of the Bourgeois Pirates, her name & epithet in Japanese is "Buruburu no Pururu" which sounds almost like a tonguetwister while as for just "Buruburu" it refers to someone who is cowardly & shaky while sounding cute & not very threatening, & she is voiced by Akane Yamaguchi - the woman who hugged Shanks in this episode is “Igniting” Linaria the captain of the Night Butterfly Pirates, her name maybe from the genus of flower or bird, she was introduced in an SBS with someone asking who is she which Oda says that she is very loyal to Shanks because when she was young he saved her thus becoming a pirate who tends to set fires hence her epithet along with her catchphrase "I will follow Shanks ♡", & she is voiced by Yuri Kimura - the thin old woman is Crone Oli who is a captain of an unnamed pirate crew, her laugh is “Hoahhahhahha”, her appearance & name maybe a reference to Olive Oil from “Popeye”, & is voiced by Mami Horikoshi
