Kid and his crew being dead would match what Shanks did in his introduction. He doesn't care up until you draw a gun and threaten the people he cares about. Shanks read up on his history, saw the attack incoming, and ended the threat to people he cared about. Kid had a higher bounty than Luffy when he was introduced because he attacked civilians. He and his crew are not good people.

The Griffins anime only larp, not canon. No aura like that exists in the story in reality. This scene was really butchered by Toei, its so much sicker in the manga. So brutal and quick, Shanks wipes out their crew in a matter of 1-2 seconds. Anime makes it seem like it took minutes, anime makes Kid still CONSCIOUS after Shanks' Divine Departure (wtf Toei, actually. In the manga it seems like Kid and Killer literally DIED from the hit instantly, neither were at least conscious ever again and sank to the bottom of the sea after the ship was destroyed). Anime literally downgrading Shanks because they wanted to milk the scene for more runtime lol.

@@nichescenes Story I'd say best in shonen but fights is nowhere near. Anime kinda ups with some extra choreo and good animation but manga overall fights are like Op's weakest. I'm a big OP fan and I don't hate the fights but they are def weak compared to some of the new gen shonens and stuff like bleach and Naruto. Manga fights barely got any choreo. Most of the time the fights are like a turn based rpg lol. One character does named attack and then the other does a named attack. Its just them taking turns shouting attack names most of the time. Even tho there is powerscaling in the story there aren't much impact from the power system for the fights. Its just whoever the plot wants to win, wins pretty much every time. Best example being the 2 Yonko fights in Wano. Also the paneling is kinda generic. The Katakuri fight probably had the best paneling in OP. Stuff like JJK, HxH, and newer stuff like Kagurabachi, the rules of the power system make a huge impact on the fights and is most of the time explained why this overcomes that or why this happens which kinda makes the fights more engaging and fun to powerscale and stuff. I know OP's power system is different to the ones I named cause it got more freedom to do whatever it wants instead of having set rules and limitations to powers and I personally don't agree when people say that its a good power system when there are rules and limitations cause OP's more free power system fits the story which makes it a really great power system for OP specifically imo. But all in all fights are not OP's strong point.

I think this episode showcases both of the captains' strengths, Kid and Shanks. Shanks decided to do that by himself only because Kid were going to (and able to) destroy all his mates, and he said "Sasuga" in Japanese to Kid right before he attacked, so he acknowledged how strong Kid is. That's why he took everything in one attack, he knew that Kid was so dangerous that could take all of his mates in one attack too.

2 details that anime-only watchers might have missed: 1 - Shanks used the "Divine Departure" which is the same attack that Gol D Freaking Roger uses against Oden. The difference is that Oden was only pushed back and had his pride hurt while Kid was zeroed. 2 - Shanks's observation haki is the most advanced one showed so far. He can instantly see around 10 seconds in future.

There is an interesting theory floating around, that Kid is one of vegapunks bodies. If you look at the gun he made before shanks stomped him, there was 07 on it… and the attack was called Damned PUNK. Plus he is from south blue just like vegapunk, and when strawhats entered egghead, one of the mechanical beasts resembled him way too much.

Like Shanks said near the start of the episode, his allies are famously weak. Like Luffy learned, you have to be strong to protect your weak allies. Basically all of Shanks' fleet are weaklings save for his main crew so he gotta be strong as hell to protect a whole fleet of scrubs lol.

I was watching the new episode really late at night and I nodded off right as Kidd attacked the Shanks Fleet. I woke up mad that I'd missed the whole fight, so I rewound and realized I oniy fell asleep for a minute. Shanks is TERRIFYING.

1.It's either Roger was going easy on Oden when he use Divine Departure. 2. Oden was just so strong that he managed to tank Divine Departure even when he got stunned by that attack. 3. Shanks mastered that attack and make it much more stronger. 4. Kid was just not on that level yet to tank that kind of attack.

You gotta remember that along with divine departure, Kidd's damned punk was destroyed and the energy stored inside it exploded and backfired on Kidd. So Kidd had to take his own attack which made Big mom stay down and destroyed so many fleets in 10 secs flat AND divine departure. No wonder Kidd and Killer both got one shot. Shanks plays strategically.

10:45 that was a gryphon because Shanks's sword is named Gryphon. People confuse it with Ace which is Roger's sword. But Shanks did use Roger's attack which you've seen used on Oden in the Wano flashback
