Thanks for the recommendations. If you haven't tried Morcilla. GO DO IT. Spork is great, fig and ash i personally thought was meh at best. Those are the last 3 placea we have tried that were hivh reviews, etc. But Morcilla, especially for a romantic date night type evening, is as good as it gets. Wife and i ate there several months ago and we still talk about it a LOT. Best meal I've ever eaten, and i am not a young man, nor am i shy about eating out lol! Fantastic spot. Gonna try out a couple on the lsit you gave , thanks again.

@briansellspittsburgh tapas, then an absolutely ridiculous main dish. I had no idea what to expect for the main course, so we went down through nearly the entire small plate menu...then our main course came and each of our plates were literally enough to fill 2 people. I can't say enough good about the entire experience, I really can't. It's a small place, i know you said you lean towards a more vibrant atmosphere, so it is worth mentioning that morcilla vibe is more laid back, focus is on the wow factor of the food. The service was fantastic, vibe was fantastic and most importantly, the food was absolutely fantastic. I honestly can't imagine how a dining experience could be any better, I'd be very hard pressed to find even the smallest of a critique.

Hyde Park, Eddie V’s, and Monterey Bay don’t strike me as Mom and Pops. And while their food and service may be very good, these are frankly not memorable dining experiences. There are lots of restaurants like them. Anyone who’s looking for a very interesting menu and a truly memorable experience should check out Morcilla in Lawrenceville. One of the top 100 restaurants in the country with a fascinating tapas-inspired menu, a great bar with real Spanish cider on tap, and run by a true Mom and Pop.

Great place for sure. For me, I do not like tappas style so, that is probably why it did not make MY top 5 but may have made others. Thanks for the post!

The best pizza in Pittsburgh is Mineo's on Murray Ave in Squirrel Hill

hands down. my sister lived right by it and had her engagement get together there. Holy crap I was impressed. Best I've had in the greater area however is Gus Franco's in my hometown of Lower Burrell. Easily in my top 5 I have ever had. If you're looking for a twist on traditional pizza try out P&M in New Kensington. The cheese blend is out of this world.

Idk about this list. A lot of massively overpriced food, even other reviews say that online if you look these places up. The place in the casino is becoming a joke.

Well without going down the rabbit hole I think just about everything in this world is overpriced. We all know that the Foodservice industry is having a hard time getting people to show up for work and the cost of food and them has gone up.
