you know every thing you said in the video is spot on i leaned to fish from some great guys one of the thing he told me that you should always know what that bait is doing in the water and that you should expect to get a bite every cast so staying focused is very important and watching rod deflection it so much that goes into it is crazy i remember people used to ask me why am i so tired after fishing its because i am so in tune when i am fishing it does drain you at times but its no magic bait the magic is in your mind that is why i say no one can beat you its a war between you and the fish and not making mistakes

Great video Rix 100%, Funny Mike mentioned about knowing what the lure is doing (100%) again. I had a friend out one day and I was really catching them. He didn't understand how we could both be using the same baits and he couldn't catch any. I said " You have to be the lure" kinda like that old Kungfu show lol. He started doing exactly that and started catching them. We laughed and laughed. I call him Grasshopper now when we are fishing and jokeing around heehee.

@ Lol ! Cool story. Yeah it’s such a mental game and alot of the time that is the part that is over looked. Most folks want to know about a secret bait or color or something like that…. Thanks for watching! 👊🏼🔥

Good video. Everything you said was spot on. I'll add that back when I was in my 20's I fished my first local bass club. We had about 20 teams. There was this one guy who was in his late 50's and he won almost every tournament we had. This was a team club so he had 2 or 3 different partners during those years we all fished that club. This guys name was Jim. He was one of 3 people that were the original owners of Bandit crankbaits when they made them crankbaits back in 70's by hand... As time went on I got to know Jim and became neighbors. So one day I asked him how he became so good at fishing bass tournaments. He said come by the house later that evening and he would tell the answer. Man I could not wait to see him and chat and find out what special bait or pattern won him all those tournaments. So I got there at his house and walked in and sat down and we chatted awhile and I said Okay Jim what's the answer. He said there's 2 things you need to do. So me sitting on the edge of my seat I could not wait. Jim said 1st is learn the 4 seasons of bass. What they should be doing in any of the 4 seasons. Bass usually follow the same patterns each and every year. 2nd, Jim said start taking notes and put then in a journal of every trip you go bass fishing and write every thing. Wind, temp, bass caught lures used everything big or small write it that journal and do it every year. Go back to those journal in the future and may help to remember places and what you used on a particular lake at around the same time. So I have keeping journals going back to 2002 and every year till now. And I have them on all the lakes around me. Murray and Hartwell and Clarkhill and all the lakes. 7 lakes total. It works all these lakes after awhile trying to remember every little thing on each lakes get harder to do over all these years.... My trophies and plaques on the wall prove it.... Hope this helps you or someone. It did me....

@@joeyTR21X awesome story man!! Very cool! Back in the day I kept a journal too for years. I still keep notes on the boat that I sometimes go back to. That was definitely some good advice! Thanks for sharing and for watching !! Much appreciated! 👊🏼🔥

From someone that just turned 57 and I still get out every chance I get. I have noticed some differences in my fishing now versus 10 years ago. 2 that stand out most are my reaction time and the amount of feeling I have in my hands now compared to then - but I get your point, I have made some adjustments and I do alright

One thing that can help you with your hands is using lighter rods... I crank with the Bass Pro Shops cranking sticks and they are really light rods that have a good feel and response time. Im 56 and do alot of push ups and also things to strengthen my hands and fingers as well. The more things you can do to make yourself stronger and healthier it positively affects your fishing. Good luck to you and thanks for watching!!!

@ your doing great work and having the confidence and mindset is what we need when going out on the water. Your techniques do help with confidence in what I’m throwing. You were in Poplar not far from my house last year. I learned something from that. Thanks good luck this year maybe I get to fish with you.

Technology and fishing don't mix imho.

To a point i agree, but its not going anywhere. The cool thing with fishing is you can choose. Choose to fish to your strengths or develop new strengths and improve your skills or embrace technology and learn to use it. To this point I have decided to fish without it but I do see ways of using it to help in on the water decision making. Thanks for your feed back and thanks for watching!!!

@@rjcornett179trx FF Sonar looking at a video screen instead of the water isn't fishing. An old school depth finder is fine. plus in tournaments it gives the guy who has the money for the best electronics a distinct advantage. Take that awy from those guys and they would be lost. But yes I agree that technology really can't be stopped. I rather look at a map. Find a point or weedline or whatever with my own eyes.

@@christopherwood2290 Yep all valid points. Its not typical old school fishing the way its been done for decades as we know it. I do think tournament trails will have to make decisions on whether it will or wont be allowed. Time will tell how all this technology stuff plays out. Thanks for your comments man I always appreciate viewers input!!
