Why you shouldn't mod of a 392 or 5.7L Hemi? In this video we will go over 3 reasons why you shouldn't modify your 392 or 5.7L 345 & just keep it stock. Most will disagree with these 3 reasons to no mod your car which I totally understand. If you would like more charger, challenger, Ram, 300 or Jeep content make sure to subscribe!

If you pay a car off and then trade it in you take a beating so now you have a new car and a payment then if you mod that car then your really in the hole. Just get a car you love and mod the piss out of it. Everyone says you should buy a hellcat well if you trade in on that your pockets are screwed as well as high insurance. Just pay it down then mod. Even if you get a hellcat it will still depreciate.

Mod. Most people that mod their cars dont really worry about these reason (other than finding a good shop). It's the people that just want to buy a fast car to say they have a fast car that this video will really hit home for. Like I have a neighbor who keeps talking about buying a hellcat. Says he isnt gonna race it or take it to the track. But he wants the status the name will bring him. I want a car that is built for me the way I want. Recouping my money doesnt matter. Warranty doesnt matter if you got the money to go dummy under the hood. I think finding a good shop is key. That one should apply to everybody. Even warranty work needs to be done at the right dealer or you still get shotty work.

Disregard everything in this video. 1. If you buy a car for the warranty go buy a prius. 2. There are many great shops, reach out and talk in forums. 3. No Dodges outside of 60 B body cars are worth money. Dodge did this on purpose.

Money is funny. We need it to live and have options to do things. When we die we can't take it with us haha. You should also talk about debt when modding, a lot car guys ignore this topic because it's very sensitive and they dont want offended people. Bottom line is, modding cars is expensive. If you go this route make sure you are being financially responsible (not negligent with your family/life/work responsibilities), and enjoy the journey. There is pride and joy with customizing your ride. For me I have to pay for power. So I'm a "bought" type of guy. I'm not at liberty to mod cars heavily due to my large family size of 6. Maybe when I'm a empty nester I can go crazy with a unquie build which would be madd fun!💯

Very cool comment and you nailed it. I made that mistake when I was rebuilding old 70s honda CB motorcycles and I had a young family. I had too many irons in the fire and was on the verge of not being able to pay my real bills. Eventually I wound up having to work so much OT to pay off the credit cards, I didn't even have time to do the bikes and it took me over a year to get back on track without filing bankruptcy. It made an impact on me though and although I still buy goodies from time to time, I will usually wait a few days or weeks to make sure I really need that item. It's really easy to overspend online, but I liked how you made your point. Modding is a ton of fun but it comes with a price. Oh almost forgot. I actually finished the two motorcycle basket cases that I turned into Cafe style racers. One was a 73 CB 200, and a 76 CB 350. They were so fun to ride it was like cutting off my leg to sell them.. but that was the whole point from the start and I wound up making several hundred dollars profit on each not including my labor. If you count labor I lost a small fortune!

I put a tune ,underdrive pulleys long tube headers, unlock computer, and my 392 made 40 + horsepower more at the wheels then stock, for close to $4,000. It was a 2018 Scat Pack Shaker 6-speed Challenger. I bought it brand new. I ended up pulling out the parts and trading it off on a Hellcat. Way happier now. But I lost my butt. Just get the car you want. Don't waste money trying to make a 5.7 as fast as a 392 or a 392 as fast as a Hellcat. The Hemi tax will kill your wallet in the end

3 valid points. However... if your car is out of warranty... that much better. If you have a reputable shop, go with it. Never get your money back? With all those mods... why on earth would you sell it. If it's worth modding, it means the car has a forever home. It's unique, it's fast, it's fun and it's all yours. Im so glad you made this video! I bought my rt bc its what i could afford and i kinda knew what i was getting into (i had never been in or driven any charger until i test drove my rt). I just wanted a v8 charger and the rt was the least expense option. Scats were going for $13k more than the rt so why pay the extra for a daily driven car? If you want a car with a certain amount of hp or speed, id say just save up for it or wait til you can afford it. Dont settle for something lesser, regret it, then try to mod your way to that next level. If you’re someone that just likes to mod and do something different, thats fine bc thats your goal from the beginning.....ive had my rt since July of last yr and its still bone stock and i still love it. I decided that I didn’t want another car payment, so I decided to mod. # 2 on the list is probably the most important. I did some extensive research and found another shop that was more knowledgeable and had great customer service than other shops I was looking at. While I was at the shop they were fixing a tune from another shop. My suggestion is call around, look at reviews, look and see if they want to charge you for unneeded parts & labor.

All that you said is true, I found out the hard way by modding a car I had years back. Bolt of the supercharger fell into the engine and it cost me my warranty plus another $1500 to get it fixed. Lost the money for the mods when I sold the car. I originally planned on using that car for fun races until reality sunk in one day when I barely bumped by someone that didn't stop at a stop sign and it would have cost nearly $2000 to fix if not for insurance, after that and then the bolt a couple months later, I realized on a daily driver how stupid of a mistake I made.

I totally agree. Dealing with selling modded vehicle's is a tricky market. Your case is the best case with the receipts and documentation you have. Also not certain mods aren't for everyone and others may not appreciate what has been done to the car regardless of workmanship or documentation. So yeah selling it today, you would probably take a hit! Cars like yours with tasteful mods, MAINTAINED, and not gutted like a racecar usually win out down the road long after they are no longer available and people wanting to get back what they had or what they always wanted but never had the chance.

These are by far the biggest reasons, but there's always been 1 that stands out to me. - The cars NEVER drive the same as they did stock. Some people see it as a good thing, others a bad thing. But the minute you start tuning suspension, adding exhaust, the cars just feel "odd" in a way. You get little sounds, rattles, etc that just drive me nuts. Regardless, it is fun to do, especially if you aren't always driving the car. I would never daily drive my car how it is now
@RTLife
@RTLife 4 жыл бұрын
yah as you continue modding the car becomes more & more rough around the edges. It's not my daily so that stuff doesn't bother me. I'm usually in it for fun & not really long stretches of time. I will say this thing drives super nice & smooth almost stock when you're not in sport mode.

People put cheap products on. That's the main issue. Price point for something good is usually double the price of a similar product that's cheap Chinese crap. Then there's the calibrated hands and wrists instead of a torque wrench. I think if you put the right mods, at the correct specs. You don't end up with those rattles. I will never take my truck to someone to mod, except tuning. Mechanical, I'm in it myself.

Imo, modifying personalizes vehicles to the owners! Someone said that "to prepare for the long haul," and that's great advice... Modders aren't looking for a quick sale! Whether for the everyday driver, weekend warrior, or both, it's a different mental animal in effect here! An expression of well being of the owner! Not something to be looked down upon, but celebrated! Just don't expect a whole return of fortunes spent on your masterpiece! Modifying the vehicle at least for me was one of the first things I did to get rid of that problem with the MDS I did MDS delete kit and I actually took out the variable valve timing also and put a regular camshaft in it with upgraded parts should last hundreds of thousands of miles

Honestly the only mods I’d do is either for making the car last longer or mainly ricing the hell outta this car. Like a demon hood, wide body kit, tint, and whatever else makes it into the dream

You should get a 20-25% slight stretch on your tires to get them responses up. Falcon or hankook with the white lettering would look good on that thing! And yes definitely mod, life's too short so why not 😁

Good point don’t mod unless you plan on keeping it and the warranty has expired cause the cost of repairs is crazy I know i work at a dealer. Big tip cheaper isn’t ever better. You build spend the extra money for good parts and professional installers who back up their work with warranty

I can understand why people get apprehensive about modded cars. I'm a master Auto technician and I'm the same way, and don't want to touch anything heavily modified, unless it belongs to a friend, or my personal vehicles. Personally when I buy a car I'd rather purchase a CLEAN and mostly stock vehicle to start with. I'll accept some basic bolt on's that are already done, but that's about it. Taking on a heavily modded vehicle is big gamble, and also I may find that I don't like the mods either. What works for the previous owner may not work for me.

Mopar Action talked about the computer. Just buy a pre programmed unit from Diablosport. You just keep your old computer and re install it before you go to the dealership. .

@@RTLife Hmm. Where there's a will there's a way... Still. I wouldn't be inclined to buy a new car anyways. It would just make my bank account scream and my girlfriend irritable.

I liked it when if a dealer installed a MP ECU they'd back it up. Now Mopar Performance is just a skeleton.....
