Man did anyone else notice the clatter it made? Sounded like no oil pressure! I still respect the HEMI to me it started the newer era horsepower wars and having owned a 06 and 11 HEMI 5.7 engines they're great engines. I think the 06 felt a bit more street friendly. I might sound crazy but the 06 had a more aggressive start whereas the 11 sounded lazy didn't the lower rpm' torque and bad fuel economy. For being down 45hp the 06 had way more street grunt. The 11's power came in strong at about 4k rpm up to about 6k rpm. The 06's throttle response and trans downshifts worked way better as well. But the newer 8sp auto's really liven up the later models so if you're thinking of getting one get the later 8sp's with the 3.92 rear in the trucks you won't go wrong.

Hypertech programmer you can set your RPM settings, power, fuel. Trucks been on a 93 gas tune for a long time it’s probably making 390hp 395hp I’m liking where it’s at a lot. The newer 5.7s make that power stock but thing is mine feels like much much more, when you want the power it’s there the truck will instantly downshift and pull its fantastic. Maxed out on the power system I’m guessing it’ll do a 415hp. It’s been a while since I touched it. I like what it’s on now so I kept it and drove the truck

I see all the bad comments and I mostly agree. Heads are not worth the 30HP however this 345CID is already making 400HP stock. Thats over 1HP per CI. Most hot rod motor builders are way happy when they get to 1HP per CI so to me that shows that the 5.7 is pretty much built and tuned to make as much as it can from the factory. Heads can only suck the air being demanded in other words they could have put on heads 5 times as big and it still would do anymore because the displacement is only pulling so much CFM however I would have like to seen a test where they plopped on a roots blower and run that against the stock heads vs the news ones. I bet the numbers would be way different and way bigger with the newer heads
@jd4403 ай бұрын
That's not entirely stock. The intake is way different from a truck style intake, or even a car style for that matter, and so is the throttle body. The ECU they are using is much better than a factory one too. So, there's where most of your gains came from. The cams they chose were small. (lift wise). Eagle heads, outflow the pre eagle ones and they outflow the 6.1 heads at some points, but between the two heads, they are nearly the same. The bottleneck, as with most engines, is the exhaust ports, and exhaust valve size. You'll be surprised what gains can be made by increasing the exhaust valve size slightly, opening up the valve hole, and giving the port some love too. Torque Improves quite a bit. If the valve can't be upsized, then duration and valve lift can be tweaked a bit to allow the valve to be open longer and higher to help airflow out of the cylinder. With these engines though, piston to valve clearance starts to be an issue for the exhaust valve with the higher lifts, so, care must be taken to have the space needed and still get a good benefit from it.

It'd do about the same for max horsepower (because that's basically about how much air/fuel you can pump) but it would lose out in power under the curve. Fuel injection can adjust A/F ratio at any point in the range, for any temperature. Carbs are limited in that regard.

also....delete the MDS system and replace all lifers with regular ones and tune the computer to always have the MDS mose on. this pressurizes the system all the time which helps to lube the lifters so you don't get lifter and cam failure like some get. you delete the MDS system by removing the solenoids(4 of them) and replacing them with cap blockers. I discovered that by replacing a, 2009 and new 5.7 Hemi oil pump with a hellcats oil pump, it helps with the hemi tick and at idle, it helps to continue to oil the lifters. at idle, the hellcat oil pump add about another 28 PSI and at cruise, adds another 38 PSI of oil pressure. and the hellcat oil pump is only 180 bucks. worth the price to help make sure the lifters get continued oil to not cause the lifter and cam failure. @thelasthallow5 жыл бұрын
yeah i think most of the power gains were from the intake and EFI, they didnt do a base run and they didnt include the EFI system and intake in the price of the build. i think that efi is like a grand by itself.
@TheMattc9995 жыл бұрын
thelasthallow more like $2,000.
@TheMattc9995 жыл бұрын
thelasthallow plus probably $800 for the intake. And I'm pretty sure they didn't include the cost of the Mahle pistons either. Probably closer to $5-6,000 total for the build for and extra 60horsepower? Ha...haha...hahahaha...nope.
@mattmoilanen38135 жыл бұрын
@@thelasthallow Dude did u listen to the video? They stated in the first minute that when it was torn down they replaced only the pistons, intake and installed the Fast fuel system setup. It then made 400 hp 50 more than stock.
@thelasthallow5 жыл бұрын
@@mattmoilanen3813 i remember now that you stated that, so yeah 2 grand for the engine and probably another 3 grand for the rest of the setup, 3k gets you 60HP lol thats really bad.

If I do the mds delete plugs on my 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland 5.7 liter Hemi and just leave the mds solenoids plugged in but not in the engine but some place under hood will the mds disengage and the warning lights stay off???? Maybe if I set them in a plastic coffee canisters sealed with some oil in it!

the more i watch what it takes in time and money to pull 425hp+ out of a gen three hemi...the more I realize how affordable a stroker 318 or 360 is. 392 or 408 cid and affordable aftermarket heads, just decide if you want Magnum or your valves on a shaft. The issue is finding EFI, since most V8s from the EFI era were trying to make torque in a truck. With a Ford Windsor, its easier to find a used EFI setup that out breathes a GM TPI.
