Scatpack 6.4L 392 or 392 Stroker R/T? Dodge Charger & Challenger 5.7L 345 build or 6.4L 392 Scatpack powered by SRT engine. In this we will talk about doing a stroker kit on 5.7L 345 making it a 6.4 392 vs trading in for a 392 Scatpack Charger or Challenger. This is the age old debate of built vs bought performance. Better to build a 5.7L or trade in for the extra 100hp for the 392. If you have a Charger R/T or Challenger R/T should you do a 392 stroker or upgrade to a Scatpack 392?

Agreed. Also its important people purchase what they can afford and build. I don't know if you are in any of the Facebook groups or not but the amount of posts where people are buying Hellcats/Scats they can't afford is sickening. There is pride in building your ride and keeping your finances in order. It is about to get worse with it being the final year. Fingers crossed I can snag a plum crazy purple or sublime green Hellcat.

I don't know if anybody mentioned it or not, but there are a lot more differences and improvements in the 392 over the 345. Just doing a stroker to the 5.7 is not the same. The 392 manifold would be better for him than the 6.1 intake especially ported. 430 whp he’s making stock 392 power…..I rather start with a 392 and go from there because you don’t have to worry about stall or the trans. The scat trans will hold 650 whp. Hell a 392 with cam heads and forged pistons will put out about 120+ more whp than he’s making now N/A
@FranksGarageOfficial
@FranksGarageOfficial Жыл бұрын
What's up bro? You make a good point but the 6.1 intake manifold was better because the car is getting supercharged. The trans mission is built for around 900 whp. If you look into it the 392 dodge makes is actually based of the 5.7 so all the parts are interchangeable. I'm the owner btw lol. Everything you said was on point tho 👍🏾 just for my goals and budget this route made the most sense.

This true 5.7 6.4 6.2 all have similar parts hell a 6.4 and a 6.2 share the same bore but are stroked different with different pistons. So yes all these hemi are very similar. But yea the 6.1 intake is definitely better for forced air 392s better for high compression. I get what you’re saying though about price especially when 392s are 50k plus now. Not mine got mine low 30s in 2018. Hell I make 510 whp and 500 torque N/A with money I put in it with mods I still doesn’t total up to 50k with the cost of the car.
@RTLife
@RTLife Жыл бұрын
The R/T, 392 & v6 all use the same 8hp70 trans. That said I understand your point, a stock 392 makes 420-430whp. But the point is on top of the increased purchase price (scatpack) you have to now drop in forged pistons/rods so you can run similar boost as this built 392 stroker. You are correct a cammed 392 with ported heads & other smaller bolts on will drop 500+whp N/A on dyno. With that said, it also has much higher compression - many (myself included) lower the compression on a built engine because it handles boost better.

5.7 is great for the guys who want the custom build. 6.4 is the middle of the road with decent stock hp but you can’t add boost. But a tune and bolt ons wheel have you close to 500hp at the wheel.
@lb9355
@lb9355 Жыл бұрын
Wrong. 392s can easily take up to 8 psi of boost if they're built after 2018. That will put you at about 600 horse at the wheel. Swap the internals out and you can go up to 14 psi.

So i know what I have to change on the car and ppl would say get a hellcat or something but I’m tired of car notes and I’m not spending $700 to $1000 a month on a dodge I’ll go German for that price, but I want to pull at most 725-750 HP out of the SRT-10 swap but yeah that the plan

It's not expensive compared to what you'd pay for a stock scatpack. It could get out of hand if you don't do research but it's actually simple to do. The easier rought is a clean 5.7 with proper ring gap, cam, forced induction, and a custom tune.

Rings without enough gap on a n/a motor that boost was added to close up when the extra heat from more power boosting expands and the ends touch. It breaks the top off the piston. Then every one thinks they lost weak internals and try to blame rods or some other BS. People are to lazy to pull the motor apart to add more gap to the rings for boost. Don't even have to buy anything. Just the time to pull out pistons file the stock ring ends and reinstall everything.
