I loved and love to visit Thailand in April and May. I knew it was hot, at least about 42°C or more, I even used go biking during the days and everyone in the village thought I was mad, but I loved the heat, just drinking water with a little salt in it.

Another great video Ryan! That pump looks like it'll help Damo's dad quite a bit, very kind of you. And thanks for talking about the heat! I lived in Vietnam for a few years and I eventually grew to enjoy the heat quite a bit. I've been back in Canada for a few years now, and I'm officially done with cold weather. I am planning on making my way back to SEAsia, specifically Thailand, in the next year or so. I hope my memories of enjoying the heat are accurate :) I'll send good vibes to your plants to help them get through the heat. Much love to you and the family 🥰

Good vlog Ryan. I was in Cambodia a few years ago and visited both the killing fields and Tuol Sleng the school where a lot of torture and killing happened. Cambodia was called Kampuchea back then. I have lived in Australia for quite a number of years so I know all about the heat you are going through but not so much the humidity you get in Thailand. Keep up the good work.

Songkran can be quite hot although last year didn't seem too bad (village home outside of Udon). Thankfully there is usually a thunderstorm to cool things down however briefly. We have an above ground portable swimming pool fixture for the kids to cool off, usual fans and air con, and seek shade whenever possible. Cheers.

Thanks again Ryan and family for a very truthful vlog. I can vouch for evry word that yousaid about theheat here in Isaan. I am now in my eleventh year here in Khon Kaen and can more or less cope with temperatures up to 38 degrees Celsius but find it difficult but have to find ways to stay cool above that. Fortunately I am an early morning person and gor for a walk in the cool around dawn. With regard to your baby rabbits, as well as the crows, snakes like the golden tree snake you saw the other day are quite capable of devouring a baby rabbit or two, particularly at night. Looking forward to your relaunch of The Naked Guru whilst the hot weather keeps me indoors. God bless you all and keep the whole family safe. 🙂🙏❤

If possible water any plants from the base making sure they are watered thoroughly so the water reaches the roots and is not just sprinkled on the top soil to be burnt off by the sun that would help Leave the hosepipe on drip if needed which means you don't have to hold it much you can put plastic containers in the soil and top those up to ensure roots get watered . If you put plants in full sun make sure they can handle it eg succulents

Another great vlog. Many thanks both of you. I think many people here in Thailand and overseas have discussed the issue of the heat. And there is no doubt it really is a MAJOR issue especially for newcomers. There is also talk about Thailand getting hotter. I can't comment on that but one thing I can say from experience is that I worked in Club Med in Phuket for a couple of years in 1986 and the heat was exactly the same back then.

Because avocado roots grow near the surface of the soil, mulch also helps trees manage heat by keeping the soil (and roots) cool. Cover crops also can aid in keeping groves cool. The cover crop can prevent water runoff, improve water retention in the soil, lower the air temperature in the grove and keep the soil cool. Wilting can be a sign of root problem and is also associated with excessing sun and heat. When you combine the two issues, it does point to environmental stresses. High temperatures above 90 degrees on young trees and plants can initiate wilting. How do I protect my avocado from the sun? Put on sunscreen. For avocados, Coppertone will not do. But white latex paint will. It doesn't need to be full strength: diluting the paint 50/50 with water will make a sufficiently opaque coating. Fortunately, avocado trees can thrive in heat well above 75 degrees as long as they're watered sufficiently. But there does come a point on the thermometer at which an avocado tree suffers regardless of how much moisture is in the soil. Apparently, above roughly 90 degrees avocado trees begin to function poorly. Avocado plants are best grown in containers in a warm, bright spot indoors. They can also be grown in a heated greenhouse. Move plants into lower light conditions or position shade cloth above them. Increase watering frequency slightly and water during the coolest parts of the day. Dark burns will not disappear, but burnt leaves will eventually fall off to be replaced with new growth.

Same issues here in Australia. I have worked in the mines here in the north west. It's not unusual for the temperature to hit 50c plus in the summer. It's a dry heat mostly but hard too get used to. Thailand is more humid which in its self is hard to take but it's just a few months to suffer. I have tried to save my plants in the summer here but it's just too hot and dry. You can try shade but it will only help a little. The inflatable pool is brilliant and a life saver in the heat. Enjoy the rain when it comes, all the best

Very good video! I don't think most people consider the extreme heat and humidity that Thailand can offer. And the rainy season is coming, which adds it's own complications into the equasion. I hope to return to the farm on the 9th of April. We are 100% off grid with solar and batteries. But since the new guest cottage was completed last week, the current system isn't keeping up with the increased demands. We have no a/c only fans. Obviously, keepeing them funning through the night is a priority that I will address upon arrival. There is no electric service within a reasonable distance so additional panels and batteries is the only solution. All things to consider if you want to live a rural Thai lifestyle. No, it's not all butterflies and rainbows. Rural life can be hard and is not for everyone. But for those that it is, something quite amazing can be found. I wouldn't trade it for a condo in the city, even with a/c! LOL Keep up the good stuff! Quite enjoy the Naked Guru as well.

I’m north of you in the Roi Et province… the highest I saw was 41C last week. This is my first year here and is definitely very hot. This week the humidity is making it feel worse… so I decided to add another AC unit. Well worth it for me. I’ve come to realize that while I would embrace some of their custom and traditions. Other things I won’t and I would try to make things easier for my family. While they’re set in their ways and changing them is just not possible, I will do what I think is best. You should do a blog about all the myths the local have towards modern comforts. I see it every day here (I’m the only “farang” in my village so I’m used to it 😅)

I have been living in Thailand since 2009 in Bangkok. The trick for me with the heat is to be careful and mindful of the amount of time you are exposed to it. There are plenty of opportunities downtown to 'take a break' in air-conditioning and you must utilize them. Don't go to places where you can't take breaks out of the heat. Yeah, out in the countryside the pools seem like a good idea but the A/C is the best so good to get a 2nd one.

Average Temperature in Buriram The hot season lasts for 2.1 months, from March 3 to May 5, with an average daily high temperature above 94°F. The hottest month of the year in Buriram is April, with an average high of 96°F and low of 79°F. 2.1 months is not too bad. Take heart that it is not 2.1 months of cold and 10 months of Sahara hot. Your children are beautiful. Otis is such a cutie. Anyway, I was going to say air conditioners and especially air purifiers need to have the door closed your front door. If you're trying to make the air clean, you need to shut your bedroom door most of the time or leave your front door closed You're just defeating the purpose and making the unit work harder than it should with the front door open. My dad sold these type of units .. anyway you have the best homestead and family farm Sooo Cuteee 🥰 love the animal 👋👍

Also I guess you have to get up very early and do animals before it gets hot and then later at night. 👋 Is the Rabbit Cage / area hard to keep clean ? If I remember they do poo a lot right ? Lol

It's also a good idea to invest in 2 good, not outrageously expensive, air purifies which the HEPA filters are easy to buy in plentiful numbers.

This comment might be dated but we visited Thailand this April 2024 and it was Hot! I have seen a few videos saying this may be one of the hottest months on record for South East Asia. Stay Cool!!

Heat period at the moment and unfortunately super pollution from burning sent so many people to hospitals in Chiang Mai ( most polluted city in the world these last days ) and Chiang Rai....it's a shame how nobody cares ( from government ) year after year since more than 10 years now.......otherwise the best drink during the summer season is fresh coconut water. :)
