Loved this one Ryan and great to see the excellent manners "Tis" has when he stopped for the Tourists taking photos on the Bridge. You and Damo are great parents and it is showing in your children and family. I agree Travelling is the best education for Kids and I am confident you will achieve your "bucket list" with your family.

seeing you and tis double up on the scooter reminds me of me and my son in the 90s whilst we lived in Taiwan. My son was able to somewhat drive by the age of six. No Cell phones so no distractions. lol

"The Bridge on the River Kwai" (1957) is one of the few that focuses not on larger rights and wrongs but on individuals. Like Robert Graves' World War I memoir, Goodbye to All That, it shows men grimly hanging onto military discipline and pride in their units as a way of clinging to sanity. The bridge on River Kwai worth visiting as The construction of the train line over the River Kwai toward Burma led to the death of many workers, who were mostly allied prisoners or forced asian labourers. Today the train operates everyday curving along the Kanchanaburi river with its amazing views, this is well worth the visit. Bridge over River Kwai was a true story by Although the suffering caused by the building of the Burma Railway and its bridges is true, the incidents in the film are mostly fictional. The real senior Allied officer at the bridge was Lieutenant Colonel Philip Toosey. Some consider the film to be an insulting parody of Toosey. The River Kwai bridge is so famous as 'The Bridge on the River Kwai' is now the best-known site on the Burma-Thailand railway but its fame is due more to a fictional film than its significance in World War II. Spanning the River Kwae Yai in Kanchanaburi, the bridge was built in 1942-43 by British prisoners of war based at Tha Markam. The bridge depicted in the film is most definitely real. In fact, there were two: one a wooden railway bridge and the other a ferroconcrete structure built using imported bridge sections from Japanese-controlled Java. It's this structure, Bridge 277, that still stands and is a famous local tourist attraction for the reason why the bridge on the river Kwai are still standing. And the final is the reason for the bridge over the river Kwai destroyed is Neither bridge crossed the River Kwai (which the Thai pronounce “quay”), but rather the Mae Klong River. Both were bombed by the Allies and destroyed. While the steel bridge was not repaired until after the war, the Japanese forced POWs to repair the wooden bridge, which the museum sign says remained in use until 1947. That's all about the history for the bridge on the river Kwai, Kanchanaburi. Including enjoying happily to see you and Otis with a wave of smiles too while walking through.

Sounds similar to Taiwan, There is a railway and road in Taiwan's Taroko gorge which was also built by forced labour under the Japanese. They have a memorial/temple/shrine called "Eternal Spring Shrine" in memory of it.

When I was in kanchanaburi, we talked to a longtail boat driver at the bridge and he took us down the river to a cave temple and a war cemetery, pointing out landmarks on the way. Well worth doing.

Priceless! You are a great Dad. Taking time to teach the history of the bridge/railroad, even though it’s unpleasant, was great see..

Ryan. That bridge is not the original Bridge over the River Kwai. There is just a little bit left of the original, which is further down the river near the old steam train.

Been to Kanchanaburi 4 times previously (Last time earlier this year) and always drive there in a rental vehicle which is best as can explore further afield. Just when you think you have seen everything then many other places appear! from temples, historical war sites, elephants and countryside come into view. We travelled from there all the way to Pai this year in a 3 day relaxed trip seeing so many beautiful places. Tis is a lovely young man, beautiful physically and spiritually, a testament to her parents and you can tell that he is loving time with his Daddy :)

Great vlog today Ryan. So nice to see Otis, a boy only six years old, show such respect and consideration for someone taking photos. Manners like that are in short supply in the past couple of decades, at least in western society. Fun fact that I don't know if you're aware of based on what you explained from your knowledge of the bridge: it's not the original bridge built by prisoners of war. If I remember correctly, the original bridge was demolished. I think it deteriorated due to lack of maintenance, so it was replaced.
