Eyeah... Now if the game was written and made to push back against that problematic stuff. I'd be more okay with the game existing. Sort of like how lord of the rings has been problematic in making the bad guys, orcs, dark skinned monster people. Felt a bit racist. The game was afraid to really get that out there. It was 2013 lol what do you want? And they made his story with Frank basically non existent, and seemingly a bad relationship. A "bury your gays" sort of style of story telling whenever involving gay people. It's a tired old trope. Can't have a gay character unless they are being phucked over in some way. Then the recent tv show comes along and does Bill and Frank SOOO much better with SOOO much more Justice and look at that... Probably going to be the best and most emotional episode of tv this year! And look. It's mega popular. They said almost as popular as hot d! Is this game trying to make Jks work not problematic though? Psh not really... You can play as a trans person apparently but that's just them throwing the trans community a bone... It's still a pretty anti-Semitic and transphobic and classist sort of a game. Being part of it by buying it and or playing it means you're contributing to a problematic culture in our society. The police have said that there is no evidence thus far that Brianna was targeted for being trans, even as they explore that possibility with their currently arrested suspects. To make this connection at this time is unfounded clickbait for your own gain. For the push-back to be effective we need to increase our numbers; we need broader solidarity. As long as we live in a democracy, an overwhelming majority could sway the leadership and corporations. The problem, IMO, is the compliance our population have been lulled into. Most people are either passified through oppression (living paycheck to paycheck) and/or through manufactured consent in favor of our oppressive status quo. Most people, either don't have the ability to rebel, and/or choose to cope with the horrors of profiteering bigots by ignoring or downplaying them or any hope for the future. What I hope to achieve, to a lesser degree by having these discussions (online or IRL) and going to protests (IRL), is an "awakening" of sorts (the term "woke" does have meaning). I hope that by increasing awareness of ongoing issues, down the line people, like me, start contributing to the movement, one way or another. One day, I don't know when, maybe we will have this overwhelmingly active majority that can't be ignored. We don't have it at the moment but every effort we make in opposition to bigotry is better than passively waiting for things to change of their own "free will". Every attempt, no matter how hopeless in the short-term, may still foster hope for the long-term.
