In this video, Adam goes over why RHYTHM will help you improve your golf swing. The backswing is not a race, so there is no need to rush it. Think about it like a bow and arrow, pulling back the tension until the arrow is ready to be released. We do not hit the ball in the backswing so why rush?

I “fired” all my other KZbin instructors and went with only Porzack. I had information overload and now I’m finally seeing progress. Thank you. P.S. the Set and go drill is absolute money.

Ha- this was the very thing that I was working on today. Slow back swing and pausing at the top got my swing back into a much better place. I’m so glad you’re posting all these little nuggets for free. It’s made such an incredible impact on my swing.

Great post. Rhythm, rhythm, rhythm. When I start getting quick when I practice, I take a break and see how slowly I can swing at the ball. The staying connected piece is huge, and like you say, with great rhythm, you have more room and can stay connected. Besides SJ, which golfers do you recommend watching for great rhythm. Snead comes to mind. SJ is so money. Can't believe that guy hasn't won more than he has. As a tall guy (6' 5"), I like watching a tall guy really striking it so well. #Goals

Amazing timing, moved across the country and had a bunch of time away from the game. Came back and was/am super steep and quick in transition.

I see a lot more room at the bottom looking at the Before/After toward the end. Great looking move.

Great lesson as always! Any chance you or Mike could do a lesson on issues with the hand path in the downswing? I don't understand how his hands go towards the ball at the beginning of the transition, my hands fall too much vertically down (trying to start my transition with my hands), I get a bit stuck but more importantly my hand path is too inside my body, e.g. 1-1.5 inches inside my set up hands' position.

Big Question .... I've been badly injured in my shoulder and ankle for some time and noticed that my path has gone all wrong cause of manipulating things to be able to play somewhat of a golf.... NOW when all is better I've notice i changed nothing back but the right amount of knee bent in setup for everything to naturally go the right bath .... so here's the Question..... how much knee flex is the right amount in setup and WHAT happens naturally if standing too straight or too flexed?!?! Thx for everything ... all the best from Iceland ... love your content ;)

Yep, I think this is my missing element. I tend to rush leading to all sorts of problems, especially a truncated follow through. Slowing down like this allows my body to sync up, almost forcing the follow through to happen naturally. Thanks for another really helpful video.

I've been slowing my take away and back swing way down. Smooth and deliberate. It has helped my swing tremendously. Better contact. More club head speed through impact. Improved accuracy.

@porzak been hitting thin and blad-ish lately. Could be the reason why i think that i am putting so much force and power in back swing that my hands become slow at the top and my chest already rotated with me "throwing" or casting or lifting up resulting in losing that L completely

This is why I’ve never understood a lot of stuff recently that advocates a faster backswing to get a faster downswing. I can tell you for me it just creates problems. I’m about medium, but when I do this type of drill or even play this way, it stays better connected.

Adam I couldn’t help but notice “and it surprised me you never mentioned it to this student” but the gap between the thumb and index finger on his right hand look very loose at address in that I would expect to see no gap between them consistent with most top players and more on top of the shaft I would hazard a guess that this contributes in no small part to his waywardness allowing the shaft to drop at the start of his downswing either that or his grips are to thick and he cannot close the gap .your thoughts ?

UGH!!!! My driver is a dumpster fire. IT is killing me, I need distance and consistency so bad, I can not seem to figure it out. It should be so simple to stand up there and see what the ball does and make the needed changes, I just can't make it happen which tells me there is something terribly wrong in my settup or takeaway or BRAIN!!! Trying to dig through your stuff as much as I can to clean this up. I love this game but am in a horrible place right now. It slowly seeps into the rest of my game as well.

Well -look the swing numbers on pga pro and long driving. Hand speed is fast the first part and then slow down halfway down. Also long drivers take it massively fast back to recoil. How do you throw a ball for a long throw? You would never take it slow back and then be able to reach maximum length. You would swing it fast as possible and then recoil your body and throw it

Take a look at PGA tour pro Cameron Young. He pauses at the top and still hits it a MILE. No problem at all with a slow backswing, a pause at the top, and then fast hands in the downswing.

@@krejjsi Overall there is no swing that are the same - just as I would say swing like Jim Furyk because he is a major winner. Overall there are very few who slow down their backswing to swing faster

Yeah you are absolutely right about long drive guys.... But for the amateur golfer form and distance helps distance + accuracy. Alot of us need that reassurance that you wont loose distance by slowing things down at times

The average PGA tour swing only takes 1 second. 0.75s for the backswing and 0.25s for the downswing.
