Hi Greg, A bit late but it comes from heart. Herzlichen Glückwunsch zum Geburtstag. It’s more formal and mean ‘Happy birthday.’ Another expression is Alles Gute zum Geburtstag. We have a similar expression in German to ‘Break a leg.’ Hals- und Beinbruch. That’s ‘Break your neck and leg.’ Very strange, isn’t it?

In Italian to say TODAY IS YOUR LUCKY DAY we say Sei stato baciato dalla fortuna(you have been kissed from Luck, the translation probably sounds this way in English, probably.... I hope! 😅) to wish good luck to someone in Italian we say IN BOCCA AL LUPO( In the wolf's mouth... More o less) To indicate how lucky a person is we say NATO CON LA CAMICIA=born with a silver spoon in his/her own mouth... More or less the meaning is this)
