Happened to my brother months ago when he just started to sell beats too. They target new creators probably because they never received any payment from PayPal before so they wouldn't have any clue what's going on. Glad he asked me if I had the same problem with PayPal before. They prey on those people posting on facebook groups or reddit. Makes sense because most people who share beats there are new creators, not thinking that the other people there are also producers. I explained to my brother every red flag I saw - the sender's email which ends with just gmail, the wrong punctuations in the email, how they didn't address him using his name in PayPal, etc. I told him that anything that requires you to pay first before you receive money is most likely a scam.

Thanks for sharing, I got plenty of those scam emails. The fake PayPal email address is always the biggest give away. Also logging into your PayPal to see if the transaction actual went through works as well. If these scammers spend as much time doing legitimate work as they did scamming, they can actually make legal money.

This happened to me a few weeks ago. I let it carry on for entertainment purposes until I got bored and finally decided to call them out on it all. That got me blocked but it sure felt great to waste a scammers time!

Last week 2 different scammers reach me with the same scam, one for exclusive beat other for an custom beat, but as soon as I go in my paypal account to confirm the transation I realized it was a scam...so Producers gotta pay attention on the details and know the music business rules to avoid those m/f round there!!

I've received a scam DM like the exclusive beats one. Instantly blocked the guy. Then I also got a placement scam, where I was supposed to "invest" to get a placement on Future's Mixtape Pluto. Haha, these scammers are insane😂

Just a few days ago i got an email from a producer complimenting one of my beats and he said he "work with Future under Epic Records and did one of his biggest songs, Low Life" Long story short he said "The Label just requires a small Placement Fee on your part, which ensures that the Beats make it on to the Project." The email looks legit but that seem like a scam to me so i ignored it

@@DJPain1 Yes, it was a fake message telling me to send $200. After learning it was a scam, I called the PayPal team and then they phoned me. I explained the problem to them. And I made a screen shot for the fake message. But it took 20 days for them to give me back the money.

I build exclusive dancehall beats using AI that i'm not ready to release as yet, but i had sent out some samples to some artists from from homeland who don't have any intentions of buying beats, they told me that if if want to get my name out there i have to release beats for free or get about 2 artists to sing on my beats for free to let people know that i can build beats, i did'nt release the beats & stop sending out samples now they saying that i don't build beats & i'm just capping & don't have beats just because i stop sending them anything..
