My brother, this is a good thing which God would like his people to follow, whether or not doing it is a matter of salvation. The non-shaver wants to please God. And if his conscious convicts him for shaving, then shaving is sin to him. In the spirit of the apostles, I do believe that we should not shave ourselves if we go into a camp of non-shavers. So as not to offend our brothers, but if we do it, then we do sin and not just by the law of conscience but by the perfect law of God. So please, let us all live in unity; and our brothers that want to eat kosher, follow sabbaths and feasts, wear tsit-tsit and long beards; let them do what our heavenly father designed for His followers to do to represent Christ's kingdom. YHVH bless you all
@JacobWilliams-oz2kj7 жыл бұрын
Some brothers may have ministries that they should care for none of these but for prayer and teaching the Word. But there are varieties of administrations, and all the same Spirit works all in all. When we speak in tongues, if noone interprets, then aren't we speaking what God wants to hear? The Spirit may lead men to follow Yeshua our savior and also seek to do wonderful, unnecessary to us, things of Scripture. These are our brothers and they are led by the same Spirit to glorify God. Do not forbid them. Yet, I understand you don't want them to be in bondage, and want them to feel Christ's grace. Which of them teaches it is necessary for salvation to avoid shaving? Let that man be corrected. But whoever teaches men to nullify the least of God's commandments, is least in the kingdom of heaven. Yet to reach others or live among others sometimes we have to shave, which is acceptable and preferable to not spreading gospel. Teach freedom from strict adherence to man's laws, and the importance of certain matters of torah over others. But don't throw out God's instructions. This is a very touchy subject that we must take with care brothers, so that we all can live in unity as Christ prayed for us. Shalom
@JacobWilliams-oz2kj7 жыл бұрын
I do agree with you, that is the heart that alone matters. But this Spirit of Christ does stir in many men's hearts to represent Him in many ways. They're trying to figure out, through Christ, how to live to please God in every way, and eventually you run out of instructions from the new testament. This video maker has a series of Christ's words called "Yeshua Says" and it is fantastic. The old covenant also led to Christ, but fewer were chosen to see it; and it benefits us all to understand what its truly saying and not the pharisaic interpretation. What better way to understand than to live it? I want us all to understand freedom and also to live to please God by His Spirit. But either way, let's love our brothers whole-heartedly as we are of all Christ. Lol one man says " I am of shavers", another " But I am of the torah too" and suddenly we've divided Christ. Let us not offend our brothers but edify, and love our family as ourselves.

It really gives me profound joy every time I find a teacher who seems close to Christ and His Word. But hearing you gives me special gladness because you teach Christ's word and Bible studies instead of focusing on debates like flat earth, giants, genealogies, etc. I hope I find more fellow believers like you and become one myself who relies on the Scriptures for his entire walk in this life. Everything contradictory in the world is evil. Thank you for teaching, please pray for my household (My wife, and 3 young children) to be given repentance. I pray and study seldomly but my heart is in slavery to sin still. I'm 21. I smoke and do some things that I know are wrong, but I haven't had the strength to overcome these. I work and try to do good but it seems that I've barely overcome anything. So please pray for His Spirit to take control in our lives, cleanse our hearts and lead us out of temptations. His Spirit is always with us, but we must repent if we are to be led by the Spirit right? I feel that if we take the next steps in repentance, His Spirit will want to dwell with us more. And I fear God's wrath, because I have faith but am I born of Spirit? I know when we cry out to YHWH about our slavery He hears, so please pray with us.

The prohibition of cutting the corners of the beard is not the hair. It is the face. The philistines would curt their face peel the skin outward and allow it to heal in that position. This was done to give them a more ferocious appearance for battle, and also to give the impression of gills, cuz their deity was dagon, the fish god. Most scriptures refer to anything that mars the skin permanently, such as tatoos as a no no. Shalom!

Isn't shaving the beard a fleshly matter? And eating pork and shellfish because we think it tastes good is fleshly as well. We have liberty in either case when there is a spiritual reason to do so (shaving for military/police/fire service where shaving allows masks to seal so you save lives). Eating unclean foods not for the sake of the flesh but for the sake of the spirit could be eating what someone has prepared when sharing the Gospel in a far off locale or with anyone who might be offended if you refuse the food theyre offering you.

The reason for the itch when growing a beard is from dryness. The oils that are used to keep the skin moisturized are not able to be produced in enough quantity with a beard, which also requires oil to moisturize the hair of the beard, so the skin starts to itch and can become flaky from being dry. Adding a small amount of beard oil by rubbing it into the beard and onto the skin after washing the beard each day will take care of the itching problem and supplies the skin with the necessary moisture to not dry out.

Interesting fact: The verse in Leviticus 19:27 uses the word "shahat", which means "to destroy" and is first used in the Bible when God talks about destroying Sodom and Gomorrah. So there's no word "shave" in the original text. Instead of shaving Egyptians did a full epilation of the beard hairline, which gave men a feminine look. This commandment may talk about this particular kind of beard destruction. Facial hair is what God gave men, and in His eyes, it is good. Destruction of what God gave to people, especially of what differs men from women, is terrible in His eyes. People who fled from Egypt with Moses still carried some Egyptian customs, and this commandment was put to end one of them. There's a chance that rabbis of early history have forgotten this fact about Egyptians and started looking for other ways to interpret this commandment.

Good video, I don't have a wife, sadly she died 7 years ago, I do now have a nice bushy beard, it's 3 months since I last shaved, I binned all my shaving stuff so I would not be tempted to shave it off. Only the second week I was just a little itchy. Now at 3 months it's getting very thick and bushy, I don't trim anything off, the beard starts just below my 'Adams' apple' linked to the hairs on my chest and the top part stops 1 and a half inches below my eyes, that is what I call a 'full beard', the only place I trim (I have to do this once a week) is directly around my mouth, more for hygienic reasons so that no hair gets into my mouth and right next to my nose so that no hairs go up my nostrils.

Thanks for the interesting video. I am about 3 months with no trimming or shaving, almost 2 inches long. Really didn't want to shave neck and your advice that a longer beard covers that anyway is what I needed. I'll trim or shape it slightly after about 5 months but pretty much plan on letting it grow as He intended. I think balls can help keep it neat and softer. As far as itching, that only lasted about 2 weeks then got less and less. My brother says it itches at first because you have been shaving causing each hair to be like a little sharp spear that pokes you as it curls back a bit or your skin moves around. Wonder why some comments are so degradating towards God and scriptures... maybe because they are trying to convince themselves there is no creator and Redeemer.

+The Health Watchman, I do believe that there are some contextual errors in this video. The verses that are being referenced here are strictly and explicitly stating not to shave the sides of your head, beard, forehead, or cut yourself for the dead. The Torah states this a few times I know of; twice in Leviticus (19:27-28, 21:1-6) and once in Deuteronomy (14:1). In all cases it says do not do this to remember the dead because that was a common ritual in that day among other religions. The heathen/pagan would do this to morn for their dead.Now, do I believe that there is anything wrong with growing out your beard? Absolutely not, just as long as you aren't doing it to bring attention to yourself or to show off. Do I believe that there is anything wrong with not growing your beard? Again, absolutely not. There is nothing saying that you have to grow out your beard or not shave it unless you take the Nazerite vow, which are commandments for Nazerite's only. There are times where we are required to shave our beards and that is when we have a skin infection that causes the hair to change color or die. As far as I know, that is the only commandment that says when we HAVE to shave. With all that said, we have to make sure that we read everything in context to get what Yah wants us to know or hear. We must read the before and after verses to understand the complete picture. Thoughts?

I am having a real problem with that one as we are not allowed to wear a skullcap to be confused with a Jewish person, yet any other style of hat is just too hot in Hawaii with hair underneath it. It was much cooler before when I would keep my head shaved completely bald, then there was airflow that could pass through the mesh style flat cap that I wear. But with hair now, I feel no air through the mesh of the cap. It is very uncomfortable and is going to come down to one of three options; 1 I wear a skullcap which is cooler. 2 I shave my head bald to be cooler. 3 I just stop covering my head because of the heat.

It wasn't until about age 26 that it finally grew into a full beautiful beard. I am curious if trimming the mustache is considered wrong. The mustache gets in my way and I keep it trimmed shorter so I don't consume so much hair lol. The context in Leviticus 19:26-28 is not about not being able to shave or cut your beard, it is about NOT doing it for THE DEAD, same as marking your flesh with tattoos or cutting yourself for the same purpose. It was a pagan ritual so God said not to do the same. So we can shave and trim our beards no problem, as long as we do not do that FOR THE DEAD, according to the context of the Scripture. In fact the method those pagans used was by burning and ripping off their beards and hair in a satanic/crazy way. Context is everything.
@EvansCollection8 жыл бұрын
All of Leviticus 19:26-28 is not "for the dead", but only the first part of verse 28 speaks of doing things for "the dead". The other verses and partial verse (second half of verse 28) are stand alone instructions that have nothing to do with the "dead". Neither does the passage say anything about them being a "pagan ritual" that must not be followed. The LORD just said don't do them. No difference than verse 29 where we are told to not "prostitute thy daughter", which was a pagan ritual at their temples all over the ancient world. Are we allowed to do so now (that is, to "prostitute" our daughters) if we're not doing it for that pagan reason, but for another reason? You see, handling of the Word of God in that manner is dangerous. We will end up allowing any and everything so long as it's for a "good reason/motive/heart". And thus, we understand the downfall of the churches.
@moisesg.v.15758 жыл бұрын
+EvansCollection Not doing it for the dead is following the cutting the edges. In Hebrew there is no comas or full stops. Then, the verb used here in Hebrew has a meaning of destroying with violence, like pulling or ripping off, just like the pagans did for their dead. In Hebrew there is another verb for shaving as we understand it today. Not the case here. Actually there are passages where shaving is necessary and recommended, so, is te Bible recommending to sin then?
@EvansCollection8 жыл бұрын
I was not addressing the issue of shaving, but your handling of the Word of God. You posted a statement that [all of] the verses 26-28 were "for the dead" -- which the passage does not state that anything but the "cuttings in your flesh for the dead" was connected to the "dead". You inserted that into the understanding / interpretation for all verses 26, 27 and the final part of 28, and then rejected the commandments found in those verses based upon what you inserted. So, what is in those verses you rejected because of what was not actually in them (or applied to all of), but just what you said. And I was addressing the principle by which you did away with these commandments by saying that you can break them if you do them for another "reason". That is also a very dangerous handling of the Word of God. No moral or practical teaching in the Bible will survive if a person/group/culture uses that method. This is exactly what many/most of the "churches" have been doing for centuries. If they don't want, like or understand passages, verses, commandments, examples, etc, they just exempt themselves from them by saying they're doing them for another "reason", or for the "reason" that we live in "another time". Yet, it's the same principle of disobeying the Scriptures for some "reason" that such does not apply to us or anymore. Thanks.

Funny thing is that most modern hairstyles for men is shaved sides of the head, not only a trim in the back. And what peyos / peyot is concerned, it's the haredim chasedim their interpretation because that's what the Rebbes told them. You can Google the specific areas that aren't allowed to be cut. (5) And yes mainly it had to do to stay true to revise in his image and stand out among the goatee Pagans. Fact

Facial hairs growth at different rates, so its best to grow for at least 6 months to one year to get a realistic idea of what there is to work with, then its time to determine its character and shape. Patches could fill in nicely during that time. Ideally the neck line should be trimmed up about one or two finger widths from the adam's apple in a horizontal line all the way to the end of the jaw below the ear lobes. This creates a strong masculine beard when grown all the way back to the ear lobes. Do not follow the angle of the jaw line, establishing the beard's own line for best results.

One time, I was waiting to be let into an establishment and I was holding a beverage. An employee of said establishment came out and spoke to the doorman and pointed to me. I thought he said "He's next, with the full beer." Politely, I replied "It's just a soda." To which he replied "Oh no, I said, 'full beard.'" That was a proud moment.

Just use beard oil or face moisturizer when your beard itches... Smells great and makes it alot more soft and manageable.

I do not grow my beard for my faith (as I'm a Christian) but I'm not here to discuss religion, I'm here to offer a tip to those of you who are growing yours because your faith calls for it. I offer this suggestion to help you manage the itchy phase when it is growing out. Keep in mind, I do not know if this is allowed or not, but I don't see why it would be. When growing a beard, it tends to dry out your skin, this is why it itches like crazy when it's growing out and why it'll sometimes itch when it's fully grown. Think of your beard like a plant you're growing. You have to keep your plant watered. The same goes for your beard but in this case, water isn't enough. But you DO need to keep it hydrated. I have a beard as big as big as Paul in the video above. When I was starting it, during the itchy phase I actually did something that may seem silly but it almost COMPLETELY relieved the itch. I simply bought some hand lotion that was for dry skin, gathered a healthy dose in my hands and worked it into my face and beard. Yes, it does seem silly but it works brilliantly. I did it each night for about a half hour before bed then used a towel to get as much as the excess out as possible. Don't wash it out of your beard, just get as much dried up as possible. Let it soak into the hair and your face over night. In the morning, shower and clean your beard using shampoo and conditioner (again, as long as your faith doesn't prohibit such products). After you've bathed (or at the very least, cleaned your beard) get a beard oil to use on your beard. Now you don't need any expensive fancy oils that are JUST for your beard. You can actually go to your supermarket and buy many different oils they offer there. Avocado oil and Jojoba oil tend to be the best for itch relief but honestly, you can use just about any oil. I myself don't bother with canola or olive oil. They're used so frequently as a frying base that it just isn't the smell you want on you throughout the day. I like almond oil myself. You can also add essential oils to these carrier oils (the oils I just mentioned). Essential oils tend to have a very strong fragrance and are a great cologne of sorts. My personal recipe: 1oz Almond oil to about 30 drops of cedar-wood essential oil. I love the woodsy smell. After the itchy phase has passed, it would continue to shampoo, condition, and oil regularly. It keeps your beard hydrated and looking much healthier. The lotion will no longer be needed unless you have very sensitive skin. Oh, btw, if you use oils on your skin, be careful. Essential oils naturally irritate everyone's skin which is why you only use 15-30 DROPS in 1 ounce of regular oil. But some people can't handle regular oil either. Use discretion. The Health Watchman, I simply stumbled upon your video. If any of this is contradictory to the faith, please, amend my suggestions.

I've been letting mine grow, but trimming the length back with a electric trimmer type thing. But I am close to letting it go. I enjoy obeying to father's commands, knowing that is what he wants for me is enough reason to change to doing his way. Yahuah bless you friends

I can grow a full beard now. I don't have a wife, so thats not an issue. I do have a girl friend. She is o,k with it. No way I am getting rid of it especially at the moment, when it is going below freezing, in the U.K. Doesn't itch now, about 1/4 1/2 inch long now.

could you make a video of what Torah laws Christians are required to keep because its confusing.. like in the ecumenical council they Peter or Paul said gentiles dont have to abide certain Jewish customs like being circumcised. There is also one of the laws in the Torah that says a raped woman who bears a child should marry the person who raped her.. is this something you would expect people to adhere to today? thanks

I shave my beard off every day because it makes me look stupid and unattractive and I didn’t want to have one at all in my life. So I rather be beardless than have facial hair because having no beard makes me look cooler, younger, and more attractive. Also I find the reason for men having beards and needing to keep them forever unsupportive with no good reasons as to why.

Started growing my beard and hair out because I wanted to know what "I" look like without modification. Had a little more incentive, having been asthmatically allergic to the fumes of most shaving creams and aftershaves. Lol Haven't trimmed either since I took this profile picture, 3-4yrs ago. 😨

Thank you so much for this much needed teaching. The way I see it, Women have curves and men have beards, and that's just the way it is because that's the way our Creator wants it to be or else he wouldn't have made us that way. When Torah says a man shouldn't dress like a woman or a woman like a man, that includes how we "dress" our faces.
