Also read Arkham City: The Order Of The World by Dan Watters, that finished right before Ram’s Detective Run started. They are friends and writing partners. Ram picks up where Dan left off in the Arkham book. A true descent into Madness, that Arkham boom was. And there is a lot of references and riffing off of Grant Morrison’s Arkham Asylum book from the 80s. Brits always elevate other Brits work lol

I’ve been picking these up in singles without reading any of them because I want to ensure as a customer it keeps going. Now this weekend I sat down and read them all in a row. And yeah, it’s so good! I’m excited that the next arc is going to be bi-weekly. Jason Shawn Alexander is doing the art for the new arc and it’s beautiful! Totally agree with you about the backups as well, they better maintain their order in collected editions because they’re absolutely essential to the main story!!!

💯. This run is great. I’ve been a Ram V fan. The Arkham series w/10 eyed man, his Swamp thing was fantastic. I’m reading his Vigil is cool.

To me, Ram V's writing is perfect for Trades. Not so much for month to month. This Detective comics run is way to slow of a burner to get excited while waiting issue to issue. (That annual almost made me drop the title) but just like Priest, he wraps up great. Just like his carnage run.

@@comicsaredope Nailed it. It's very boring as a monthly read. I was a huge fan of Ram's independent work and was super stoked to see him come to DC. So far, I have largely been unimpressed. Poetic, but verbose with poor pacing. Love your channel. Would definitely like to watch more long reviews like this. Have good one.

I absolutely love the gothic art of this run. The story is a slow burn but it is very very good. Kind of reminds me of 90s era Batman with Kelley Jones art

Ivan Reis been my favorite artist on the run so far. Chip’s Batman book was all shock and awe, and carried by Jorge Jimenez. The jig was up for me on issue 3 when I realized the story didn’t have any real substance, just a bunch of flash and empty references to Grant Morrison stuff. End of arc 1 was hollow, and now this second arc of Batman proves all of that. No Jorge, the book has tanked. The plot is so uninteresting, and the execution is flat. I’m dropping Batman. Better to steadily rise than rocket up, blow your load early, and crater back down to earth (like Batman in issue 5 of Chip’s run 😂). MESSAGE! 🤌🏾✉️

Ivan is also my favorite on this run, but I'm sure anyone could've guessed that. I feel like Chip's Batman is playing out like a summer blockbuster film in the Will Smith era. Some land better than others critically, but who really cares how good the story is? Is it fun? Does the star player feel like a star player? Was the popcorn good? Most importantly, did being in a cool theater keep you out of the scorching heat for a second? Bet. Mission accomplished. Jorge is back with issue 135 next month and I can't wait to grab the popcorn again.

@@comicsaredope I care lol. Shock and awe gets old. You gotta come down to earth sometime. Have some dynamics. Keeping the volume at 11 the whole time is grating and wears out it’s welcome. I personally go to movies for movies, not snacks. I go to feed off the film. In this case, I had to elevate my diet in respect to my health. Fast food comics stay to a minimum with me. I require more nourishment. And if the cook is doing their job, I’ll get a meal with health portions if everything I’m looking for, not just a bowl of sugary cereal every meal 🍽️. But hey, none of us need to justify our delights. Enjoy chip. I’ve been enjoying Jorge with a better writer over on Nemesis: Reloaded, where he has no restrictions and is letting his wings fully expand 😎
