Ram V is my favourite comic book writer. As a Catwoman fan, I'm so grateful for all that he did for her. He elevated her to the stature she had under Brubaker.

Love that you did a spotlight on Ram V! Not only is he an amazing writer, but it's great for people to read from a diverse collection of writers. It's so important and enriching to experience something created by a person who has a different worldview than you. Ram V handles dark and emotional stories so well, but can also dish out a fun superhero book too! Would love to see more videos like this, where we get to see different creators.

Awesome video Robbie, I've been looking forward for your Ram V recommendations. I just purchased Gravitiy's Wall after you recommended it on your Sunday live show. I fell in love with Ram V's style reading Many Deaths and will get all the titles from this video. I can't get enough of Ram's writing he really is at a different level. Station!!!

Even Ram Vs Silver Coin issue was dope, and different from his usual work. He’s so flexible and talented. Just like his homie Dan Watters from the White Noise crew.

Guys if you are unaware of his original Indian works then find a copy of complete run of Aghori written by Ram V and published by Holy Cow Entertainment... Absolutely stunning work....I became an instant fan of his after reading Aghori and he went on to write some fantastic books for American publishers as well

I only got into comics this year and The Many Deaths of Laila Starr was the book that hit me the hardest. It's such a beautiful book and it'll be hard for anything to top it in my opinion

I'd love to see a video that takes a deeper dive on the analogies and allegories in These Savage Shores as well as Swamp Thing (so far.) There's clearly a lot to pick apart from those works.

Thanks for this list. Of the three books on it Im familiar with, I can honestly say each is at the top of the comic book form. Blue n Green hurt my feelings at the end, something about the characters arc came out more bitter, nihilistic than I thought this kind of human balladry depended upon--and who says my interpratation of the end is even correct? Such deep ambiguity and range of feelings--that it could hurt my feelings in the end--is synonomous with better literature. It must be read again. And the way V works with certain artists---that visual jazzy life and terror and fragile hope playing making the notes on the page a whole performance and score, I so agree with the thoughts expressed here! These Savage Shores. One of the most powerful horror books I've ever read--and one of the most beautiful and somehow life-affirming. So good I almost could have lived with a subtler last issue--didnt need the "payoff" (otherwise stunningly realized) of the explicit horror monster-mashup--so content to linger in that exquisite, twilit darkness, to feel the heat of life and passion and mysteriousness amidst the earthy, pungent jungles and studies slowly subsuming themselves into the death and dark only somehow more vivified. Must read the other ones on this list that I am not familiar with. Thanks for continuing to do goog things like this for good people (besides me, I mean) to read and engage with to their better infomativeness and wonderment about today's comics.

How did you get your hands on Black Mumba? I can’t find it anywhere, except this website that is selling it in pounds I think. Can’t find it digital anywhere either. I’d like to buy it to support Ram and the rest of the creative team.

I'll have to be the first to admit that I REALLY didn't like Savage Shores. Sorry, but if your lettering on all the captions makes my eyes hurt I'm not liking the book. Even after listening to the audiobook version an Audible, which was an important, I still found it quite impenetrable, so I guess it's just not for me. Blue in Green though was AWESOME! Not being a horror fan I found that book and Red Mother from the same year to be the best offerings the genre has in any medium. And now I've read the first 2 issues of Laila Starr and that one IS... EASILY his best work yet. You are absolutely right, it's poetry in comic form. This is why I push comics as an art from that SHOULDN'T be disbursed like it is...Nice one!

Is Paradiso finished? feels like it could use another 2 or 4 issues. But it did say something about ending before the end ...?

From the man himself: "Paradiso was intended to be a 5 arc story. Sadly, we managed to get 2 arcs done before single issue schedules and sales proved unviable. We are currently looking at a way we can put out two more arcs that's viable for the artist, Dev, to continue working on. Looking at some interesting format options. So, yes, I want to. When that'll be is something I've still got to figure out! I've got some interesting ideas." I really enjoyed the second arc (particularly the art), hopefully this can continue somehow.
