They're both genius on their own regard. Rin has an affinity for all the elements while sakura has an affinity for the imaginary number both of which is impressive on their own regard, the quality of their Magic circuits are also on par and while sakura can siphon a person energy and mana, rin can store said mana in gems allowing for the on the demand call of greater magic also her magic control is incredibly high being able to rebuild a heart given she has the mana supplied to her... I could go on and on but even with training rin wouldn't really fall behind and if she did given her personality it would only lit a fire under her and push her rather than bog her down.

Sakura's strength in Heavens feel is so absurd because she's acting as a psuedo grail due to black grail infused crest worms. She doesn't have *infinite* mana but she has more mana than any magus could spend in several lifetimes due to her grail status making her powers absurd, but without it it's said she and Rin have comparable levels of Od

@@AmbivalentRay The Shadow is born from Sakura herself, making it an extension of her powers. In Ataraxia she can freely switch to her Dark appereance and use the Shadow. Even in the original story, the Shadow answers to Sakura's desires, if she wanted Rin dead it would just whip her in the back and kill her like it happened with Shinji And even without that, a completely normal Sakura with no true training has the exact same magic power as Rin does. Of course due to her lack of skills, Rin would always win.

Not a total lore nerd but Sakura and Rin are both prodigies and have unique potentials. Rin can use all 5 elements while Sakura can use the imaginary element which is different from the 5 normal elements. The shadow’s attacks seems to use this imaginary element so it’s power comes from Sakura. The grail gives Sakura infinite mana but she has power to be able to use that mana effectively.

Nasu I think realized that Imaginary Numbers was too broken, so Sakura was used to fulfill a role in the narrative, rather than being able to go ham herself. So many instances have shown the great things she could do. Which makes it even more unfathomable why such interesting powers weren't explored more. One other interesting thing is Imgainary Numbers gives you access to another dimension for you to traverse, intrinsically, like, at base ability. Though originally, it was used by magi to preserve artifacts because it can do something else, time flows differently inside that subspace Imaginary Numbers users have. What happened with Rin in Femme Fatale is she essentially got something to the equivalent of a lotus eater machine on steroids, where she was put into a holodeck and actually made to live life from Sakura's childhood, living as Sakura. Essentially if you think in shounen terms, its a better version of Mangekyou Sharingan, as its actually happening and not a illusion, but a reality recreation through a magus' personal planar subspace. Nasu likely got scared that he gave one of his heroines a power like that, so she had to immense restrictions because how could the main character feasibly lose with a partner like that? So he wrote her being used as a magical experiment that effectively makes it so that she'll have to work her ass off to get back to where she should be as a magus due to Zouken messing with her body. Yet, she should effectively be crippled by now, Zouken even says multiple times by Zero and in FSN proper, that she should have died and he didn't actually spare her at all when doing his experiments. She just survived through it all. One particularly powerful scene which I lament wasn't in the movies, Shirou asks her a question, if she hates the Matou magecraft. She answers this way: "That's like asking me if I hate breathing" She had told Shirou in a stoic, matter of fact way, that it didn't matter if she hated it, if she couldn't endure it, she would have died, period. One quote that just encapsulates her realist, fatalistic mindset perfectly. And also, her power effectively requires her to face herself and her inner demons each time, and keep composure at all times. That was what that bit from Hollow Ataraxia was about, it requires her to bring her sealed id to the surface, and fighting it means essentially using your psyche as a blade. So basically yes, she needs to activate her Persona to use her powers for fighting. But Imaginary Numbers can be used for transport, storage space is infinite due to the connection to Imaginary Number space where time flows differently and so it can be used to detain things, there are applications in FGO where it was used for a printer that instantaneously finished several doujins in seconds through time fluctuation BS. Nasu says that Tokiomi was unable to teach Sakura how to use her power, while he could teach Rin just fine, that is how broken it is. And we STILL don't get to see much of the wholesome relationship between her and Dilo, her new mentor post FSN, an archbishop from the Church. The only really positive male role model she had in her life and Nasu barely writes anything about it, that's the true crime. It robbed us of seeing interactions with a wizened actually good person from the Holy Church, shepard and take under his wing a girl the Church probably would view as a heretic. How freaking wholesome is that?

I really hope in FGO we finally see her as an adult, and Rin as well I want to see how far they come as mages so badly. And with FGOs timeline starting 8 years later this would place them in their midtwenties, unfortunately that's around the time shirou becomes Emiya in the counter force so I doubt we would get all 3 unless Heavens feel is the canon ending, but God the saber fans would lose their shit. We've seen characters like Gordolf from Apocrypha, and Sion from Melty blood become main characters in FGO so it's totally plausible.

The only reason she's able to toss around servants is because she's functioning as a holy grail due to black grail infused crest worms implanted in her, she has a psuedo contract with Avenger (angra mainyu) and can absorb servants because she is essentially a grail, the thing that allows them to exist in the first place.

I grailed Kama to 100 before the 120 cap existed and I have no regrets for that in particular! I prefer her over Parvati.. Admittedly Skadi-Looping with both of them was it's own sense of cathartic..
