Love it bro. I have a two catch for each side. ...so 4 catch in total and run the hose across the back of the engine so the oil can cool down. I did use an fitting - heat up the an fitting and tap the an fitting into ends connecting to the engine. Love your work

@@AutoLust appreciate your work bro, what did you use to seal off the bottom drain system it has, would like to know as im working on setting mine up now. i see you used the drain valve that came with it to lead it to the bottom of the catch can if im correct. Thanks
@AutoLust
@AutoLust Ай бұрын
@@TheRealEvo That's exactly what I did and i used e6000 to to make sure it didn't come out. You have to make sure you have something holding the drain pipe up until the e6000 hardens so it doesn't slip too far in or out before it hardens in place.

That flapper is not to prevent oil going through. It serves 2 purposes.1) It has a hole in it to meter air into the Case while the intake manifold is under negative pressure, 2) Under positive pressure the valve swings open allowing the crank case blow by into the intake of the turbo to be burned off. To properly put a catch can on these cars, you need one for the Positive pressure side of the vent system and another can for the low pressure side of the system.
@AutoLust

BMS and a lot of other companies have this same setup available you speak of and it NEVER catches anything but a little oil filmed water vapor every few months. Not taking away what you said about the flapper valve (that's why I still have it) but my goal is to eliminate oil and oily vapor from going into the intake (dropping octane) as I use my car for drag racing. VTA setup with a crank case breather (one way ball) valve in place of the oil cap is the best way in my personal opinion (from my personal needs). I really don't care about catching any oil as long as the pressure is released and my intake air is clean.

@@AutoLustyour 100% right i have bms catch can setup for my f10 m5 it barely carches oil and oil still gets into turbo inlets and intake manifold i have seen it when it was off. I was looking to do somthing like this but your video poped up thank you sir 🙏🏽 function over looks

Trans cooler upgrades are something I would like not for racing but I tow a lot and that is far harder on trans. I got all my stuff from fcp so when I make a big trip I order it up and replace all my fluids and filter when I come back.
@AutoLust
@AutoLust Жыл бұрын
A transmission cooler upgrade is a must for even around town driving especially if you live in hot climates, because the thermostats open way too late and it takes forever to cool it back down so it will diminish the transmission life.

I was hesitant to buy and install 2 open vents catch cans on each pcv hose because some people said that anything with a vent (including the engine oil cap) will change the pressure and vacuum of the system and that’s gonna lead to more problems in the future
@AutoLust
@AutoLust Жыл бұрын
That's big untrue. My buddy's been running open vent to atmosphere for over 2 years. And I've been running the oil filter crankcase breather for over 2 years with no problem.
@anasmalaika
@anasmalaika Жыл бұрын
Great to hear that! But what about the suction from the oil filler cap when taking it off during idle? I’m guessing that it’ll affect the crankcase by constantly sucking air into it.
@AutoLust
@AutoLust Жыл бұрын
@@anasmalaika it has a ceramic ball valve inside so it only releases when it's supposed to and seals when it's not I have a video on the X6M playlist that explains everything with a link to the actual cap.

Hey bro just a quick question. Are you still running this same setup for your catch can or you changed anything around? Im looking to set up my catch can but im seeing some people say that you should connect hoses for in and also out for negative and positive pressures.
@AutoLust
@AutoLust 3 ай бұрын
I'm still currently running a similar setup but I eliminated the catch cans all together and just running breathers on the end of the crank case line keeping the flapper valve in place. I also run a one way crankcase breather valve in place of the oil cap to deal with positive and negative pressure as well.

I see you removed the catch cans, were they not catching much oil? And the new set up won’t it saturate the engine bay with oil? Do you have a vid of the new set up?
@AutoLust
@AutoLust 12 күн бұрын
The science between catch cans and the S63 engine is very complicated. The only way to truly stop oil from entering the turbos and the intake is to delete any avenues that lead to the intake and Turbo that carry oil or oil vapor. The way I have my system run now in conjunction with a oil cap valved breather has worked the best for me. I can't say how it will perform in any other situation or in any other car, But for me I've had no oil in the intake or turbos as well as no oil in the engine bay.

If you want to eliminate oil into the intake and turbos then it's a good thing if done correctly, but they won't catch much oil.

This is not a criticism of any sort as i admire your work on the x6m But the pcv valve has a one way valve which (opens or closes) and operates strictly on (vacuum or pressure) in the intake pipe you closed. 1) During open throttle conditions. There is vacuum in the intake pipe and the cleaned blow by gasses are sucked into the intake pipe thereby opening the valve. 2. During close throttle conditions. The pressure in the intake pipe shuts the valve close and blow by gasses are discharged through a secondary valve attached to the oil separator into intake ports via holes in the cylinder head. So with your installation there is no vacuum in your oil catchcan enough to draw the blow by gases out as it is vent to air.
@AutoLust
@AutoLust Жыл бұрын
Thanks for supporting the channel and that's totally understandable, but I'm more concerned with keeping oil and oil vapor out of the intake track completely as I will be running extremely high boost. Even with some of the best catch can set ups oil will end up coating the inside of the turbos intercoolers and various other components as well as dropping the octane of the fuel. The main purpose of this kit was strictly to prevent oil and oil vapor from mixing with fresh air.

Why even use a can? Why not run hoses straight down?
@AutoLust
@AutoLust Жыл бұрын
That would cause oil to drip onto the track and cause me to be expelled from the track. The baffle system under the valve covers does a great job for a factory system but it's not perfect, hence the reason for the catch cans to correctly separate oil from air. Now, if you mean run the breeders from the sides of the catch cans under the car I could do that, but I like the look of the triple breathers under the hood.
