I don't what to tell ya folks, I tried it all today and eventually had to settle for this shamble of a guide... 0_o You might be thinking that what I showed wasn't correct and that we still need to actually chase it down THEN re-aggro it but I'm telling you, neither scenario works for me. Annoying but it's whatever I guess, it's not like I'll be going out of my way to even kill this boss really as to be honest it feels worthless currently... perhaps even once it fully launches to as I for one don't see what they can alter without literally altering everything about it... Things should still be viable in solo play, I can't tell you how many people I know play DST solo still. That being said, the issue isn't the boss itself but rather the mechanics needed to compete with it - the sailing is horrendous in DST.

I love the Malbatross's design. He looks so sleak and awesome with his feathers and webbed crest on his head. Also I love the idea of a giant bird boss fight. In Hamlet there is a big bird, but we can't kill it.

I'm so sad with how the sailing style turned out for DST. I've been having the same kind of luck as you Beard, and it just makes me miss shipwreck so much. I keep wondering why they didn't just update shipwreck sailing and add it in instead it would have been such a cool nod to the history of the game and WAY more enjoyable to use exploring all the new features they've added.

one person steering the boat and everyone attack it. Abigail is useful in the fight if you are soloing with Wendy and all you have to do as a Wendy is steer the boat get Abigail to agro onto boss since boss barely fight back.

Maybe they could make a harpoon gun you attatch to your boat and once fired at an enemy it sticks into it forcing the boat to follow. This way you could keep up with it. To balance it out they should probably make it a one time use thing or maybe 2 or 3: who knows.

It'd be cool if it approached you if you held fish, and you could feed it, and it would help you out. It could even let you ride it or help you in fights.

Beard, I think in this fight a gang might be advised. Whether having a few crews of boats or one well manned boat to accurately make chase while others attack. But hopefully they fix it , I would like to defeat as many of the bosses as possible

Did you not watch the video? I literally show myself using the flute and say that it wasn't working for me. Furthermore, I do happen to say that it wasn't working FOR ME and that others have had success so of course these methods are known and being used.

Maybe you should make guide when new features/content are fully completed and fixed? Rushing guide that would be outdated and not accurate after patches won't be very helpful for future

Yup! You still need to outfit your boat with sailing gear though, so you need to be careful with placement
