For canned goods, I don't know the last time I ate a can that WASN'T well past expiration date. I always boil them to be safe on the botulism front though - as a precaution.

@@PraxisPrepper is this for store bought cans or home canned? I have not heard this before and trying to learn.

Do not boil canned food in its original packaging. The Plastic liner inside the can will mess you up if you heat it up in excess temperature. Take the food out and boil it as precaution if you deem it necessary. Also…if the food smells funny, throw it away, simple.

My Greatest Concern is what is happening with us, Governmentaly! That’s what we’re facing in the months… then, the years ahead. People are having real challenges and concerns with what’s happening going toward this Election year… Social Security, Medicare, Food, Utilities… and trying to supply our lives toward a World that are odds with itself even among Citizens😢

For food stock rotation we learned to use different colored stickers. One, were getting older and it's hard to read those pesky cans and two, it makes it easier. Like blue stickers for '25, pink for '26, and so on. As always great video!

Just using 1 WM can of potatoes and a large can of WM chicken, all kinda diced, and packets of mayo, I made a decent 2 meal salad. I added s&p and celery seed, that's it, for approx a total of less than $3 for 2 meals. I don't use the spice packets from oodles of noodles, but have mixed 1/2 packet into the same type of potato salad w/o the chicken, tastes pretty good. I save those spice packets of beef and chicken and they make decent broth on a cold day or if you need a pickup between meals. Don't add salt.

Relating to outdoor survival, tell us what you think of the KY highway shooter situation. He had survival training in the military. How long do you think he can last in the woods, especially if he is in a cave? I don't think he prepared supplies in advance.

PLEASE ANSWER ME... CAN I STORE MY FOOD IN MYLAR BAGS IN KEEP IN THE GARAGE? I LIVE IN SOUTH FLORIDA.... I HAVE THEM IN PLASTIC CONTAINERS.. IS THE HEAT TOO MUCH??????
@T-ElleCanada2 ай бұрын
I live in Canada. We get very cold temperatures in the winter and we can get very hot humid weather in the summer. I do NOT ever store any food, whether canned, in jars or in mylar in my garage or shed. Mylar bags are NOT insulated bags. Personally I think very hot temperatures can degrade the quality of the food, however it is packaged. I store my food in a basement room that stays cool but not freezing in the winter and gets air-conditioning in the summer. I wish I had another room like it. I think that houses in Florida don't have basements. I try to keep mylar-bagged food in a cooled room year round. Just in case, I also keep the room fairly dark. Do you have some storage space in closets or under beds in air conditioned rooms?
