I think intermediate players should already be familiar with these things, but great advice and thank you. My goal for now is to get better in lyrics writing (not really a guitar goal) and secondary goal is learning songs.

thanks for the video. do you have a resource you would recommend for learning the fretboard? i've put it off for a long time but would love to pick it back up. i'm a fairly advanced guitarist, but im one of the guys who can do a ton of stuff but has no idea what that stuff actually is haha

Thanks for watching! Like I mentioned in the video, if you focus on the 6th and 5th string notes and learn the two octave shapes, that will help you to eventually “see” the notes on the fingerboard. A great thing about being able to know the fingerboard as well as notes that are in scales, chords and arpeggios is that you don’t have to be locked into “shapes or position” playing.
