There are a lot of qualification to his "don't turn them off" argument. If you're not using them there's zero advantage to leaving them on so even a very tiny advantage to leaving them off means you should leave them off.

The biggest drain on your phone's battery is your mobile data antenna. Just by turning it off, I've extended my phone's battery life from a couple days to several weeks. Don't know if you can do this with iPhone but pretty much every Android phone should have this option built-in and easy to access from the pull-down.

In Italy the mobile connection is usually great, and very fast. Mobile plans are very cheap and come with hundreds of GB, sometimes unlimited, all under 10 Euros. So using WIFI is not really necessary and comes with safety problems. Better to stay with mobile data in you're not at home.

TURN THEM OFF FOR SECURITY REASONS. BUT REMEMBER…unlike Android, on iPhone you can’t dive into settings and turn off WiFi and BT scanning.
@ViciousZee
@ViciousZee 2 ай бұрын
Just to correct you, only if you are with de-googled android, you can have “some” confidence for bt and wifi not scanning in background. Because, while iOs it’s obvious, apple can do what they like, with android, ALL google apps are beyond admin-permission and they can scan and be active in background without your knowledge or ability to disable. Find some serious logging app and see what is going on with your phone ALL the time no matter screen on or off ;)

That's why I always buy a phone w headjack. I seldom use Bluetooth. I switch it off constantly unless I want to use it even though it consume not much power. Still it will waste you battery power not to mention it's a security threat to allowing an access point open constantly. You be surprised you have apps that switch on your Bluetooth without your permission. For wifi I'll just connect to it constantly because of messaging apps.

On all of the phones I’ve owned I’ve seen a very noticeable difference in battery life when I’ve turned off WiFi while I sleep. It’s no doubt all the applications phoning home for any new info. The more apps with background internet access, the more the battery is going to drain. Turn off Wi-Fi while you sleep and you wake up with much more of your battery.

so there are two things that could be going one: 1. You have something set to backup your device only when there is wifi and you are not using your phone. or 2. You have some app installed that is sucking up your data - this could be a legit app or malware. Look at your data usage and the apps and that could tell you which one it is.

I'm on T-Mobile home internet and T-Mobile cellular. Excellent coverage where I live. At home, if phone wi-fi is turned on, it automatically switches to wi-fi calling - and the call quality sucks! Why is that? I've turned off wi-fi and wi-fi scanning, as I have an unlimited plan for both services (no throttling) - unless I walk into a faraday cage (like a hospital) and can't get a cell signal and need "free" wi-fi.

Great answer and always love your information! A cautionary note though depending on the circumstances. I worked with a delivery company. I had my phone set to battery saving mode As a results because this was the software that the dispatching company was using, I would not get any dispatches. So I had to turn the battery saving mode off in order to be able to get dispatches from the software. So I would say about 98% right except in very rare circumstances. Without arguing whether you're right or wrong re Bluetooth power use, our local council uses Bluetooth MAC address logging for monitoring traffic flow. They have devices built into the traffic lights, which monitor the time taken for a Bluetooth device to move between traffic lights. That this system is in use and works, tends to refute your statement about how a Bluetooth device acts, when not in pairing mode.

Im sorry but this doesnt make sense!😇🤗Bluetooth and wifi-direct are all passes for your phone. The security risk is enourmous! And dont make me start on nfc.... Better to keep it off until you need it.keeping those services on because according to you it doesnt spend that much battery....🤔well...im sorry but i cant take you seriously!😅

ok where does one begin....firstly, this video is about BATTERY life. Then if you actually watched the video I...and get this...actually discussed security too. See? same feature can have two implications. One is battery and the other is security. In fact I have an entire video on why you should switch off wifi due to the security reasons and another video about car security and your phone and and and - But I do warn you: they require being able to listen, watching, and processing the info. Not everyone can do this. Clearly k bye

In a previous video you told use to turn off Bluetooth for safety and security; now it’s okay to leave it on?

It's simple; for security reasons, switch them off. But if you are doing it just to save battery, then don't bother as it doesn't really make any meaningful difference.

Thank you; I will stay with your original directive and keep it off for security reasons until necessary; thanks again for your immediate reply.
