The problem with any TVR will be the electrics and they can be very hard to diagnose. Basically because of the fibreglass body it's all earthed to the frame (not always logically) and these many earthing points are prone to wear/corrosion so you'll spend half your life chasing down which point has failed, aside from that they're fairly mechanically robust but parts can be difficult to find if/when it does go wrong.

Roland Faroe depending on where you live, emissions will still be lower even when the majority of your nations electricity supply comes from non-renewable sources, because burning coal in a power plant is more efficient than burning fuel in an ICE. For me in Aus, where we only generate 20% of electricity through renewables, an electric car still only makes 70% as much co2/km than a petrol engine. This is of course only 1 small part of a complex question which includes heaps of other factors like fabrication emissions, vehicle lifetime, etc, however raw usage emissions for EV’s is still lower for most cases and will only get better in future. (The article where these numbers came from - theconversation.com/climate-explained-the-environmental-footprint-of-electric-versus-fossil-cars-124762. What you are describing with those 3 minute charge electric cars are hydrogen fuel cell cars. They should be the future. The thing is the electricity comes from somewhere, and that somewhere, even once petrol cars are no longer sold, will be mostly fossil fuels, as Gareth said. Plus there isn't the pollution involved in making batteries with hydrogen cars, and lithium doesn't have to be mined. People seem to forget that lithium will run put eventually. Anyway. Apropos young person insurance, I feel for you peeps. Even in my early 20's back in the 90's I found it hard to push monthly insurance payments above 30-40 quid a month. Bike insurance was even cheaper, even with nine points on my license. Times have changed. Today at the righteous old gammon faced age of 53 I roll around in a 2004 Volvo S60 2.5 turbo diesel and pay 18 quid a month. In fact my last car before an articulated lorry swiped the front off of it, was a 1998 Honda Accord Coupe 3L V6, the insurance was around 20 quid a month. Sure, not the fastest thing to 60, but it pulled to multiple license losing speeds once you got that thing going. But Alex and crew's advice is good, get a couple of bangers, put some dents in them (but throw away/don't claim/fix yourself), and build up your no-claims etc, after a couple of years your insurance will begin to come down, unless you live in dodgy bits of Manchester or Brum.
