Such a great teaching on forgiveness and bitterness… reminds me of a time when I was at CFNI and Dutch was teaching on forgiveness… A girl stood up defiantly and said “I will never forgive my father and what he did to me!” Dutch thought a bit before responding and then said, “I understand…. Would you be willing to pray 3 times a time, "Lord help me to be willing to forgive.” She agreed that she could do that. Nothing more was said, but the next week the girl stood up smiling and said after praying that daily she was able to forgive and release her father to God! Powerful!

I first read this book for the first time in 1997 after I saw John Bevere teach on it at the Brownsville Revival. It changed my life. I later did a Bible study using it and the companion study guide. It was life changing for many people. In fact, one person I know of went into the ministry working with ex-convicts using this book for a foundational study on forgiveness and the work of the cross. It should be required reading for every new believer and Christian!

I know a man whose business partner left him holding the bag on six figures of debt. About 2/3 of it was from the business partners line of credit. My friend declared bankruptcy on the whole thing. It took him about five years to work through the bitter unforgiveness. He finally forgave and released the partner. Fast forward, the business partner ended up losing another business, a marriage, and a 1.5 million dollar home. Forgiveness released this man to bounce back. He is now serving the Lord. Forgiveness releases both you and the other person from bondage.

So much is based on fear. Fear of the person who hurt you generates a self protection frame of mind. If that hurt is from a family member that you see daily and you are hurt daily over and over and over again you can never heal. There is no escape, you know you must forgive them but the struggle is real. Then comes the guilt of feeling you're outside of Gods word due to the anger and fear you feel towards your tormentor. I work in a deliverance and inner healing ministry. I have my client read Matthew 18:33-35. It is probably the meanest thing that Jesus ever said. " If you don't forgive, My Father will throw you in prison and let the tormentors torment you." You are the only one who has the keys to get out of prison. It's a freewill choice. You choose to take them off your hook and put them on God's hook. Along time ago, I had 2 people I couldn't forgive. Jesus said to me "if I stand in front of them can you forgive them through Me." The answer to that question is always yes! Do the work, you will feel a lot lighter and free. Blessings

I try not to change the words in the Bible but the Lord’s Prayer in Spanish does not suggest that God leads us into temptation so I appreciate the way NLT has translated verse 13. I am not a fan of the Pope but, maybe because his first language was Spanish, he translates this part something like “Deliver us from temptation and also from evil.” It even works in the song and is, I think, more accurately expressing the nature of God. Opinions?

Thank you Dutch for the post this morning. As Saints of the ekklesia of Father God we will NOT TAKE THE BAIT. Lets forgive others who has hurt us because really we are he one who is hurting which will lead to resentment and sun has caught us. Show love and forgivenes to then and you will be healed. I have been in this situation and prayed for themand forgave them. It took about a year for the other person to get in touch with me, no they never apologized but they needed help and our relationship grew from that point.. God was in it and I'm so happy He did. I thank Father God for His love He has with me and l share that love with them. I pray and bless them when l go to see them. God worked it out in His timing, it's been over 13 years ago since the healing. See you tomorrow morning Dutch and saints so we can continue to pray and agree together. America is saved and bilions will come to know Jesus as Lord and Savior. I pray in Jesus' name.Amen and Amen.

I have been listening to sermons of Pastor Sierra in the Canary Islands. His sermons in Spanish are very good but the woman who translates does not have the level of English I think he would want, judging by the excellent Spanish he speaks. The English of the woman who translates is also a poor model for others trying to learn standard English. If you know them, let them know I would be glad to edit her translations before she records them at no cost.
